What's going on guys, my name is Wade with tech daily and in this video we are going to be taking a look at the complete lineup of Letterbox cases. For the Samsung Galaxy note 9 in the realm of smartphone cases, I think Letterbox is probably the most widely recognized brand. They make some of the toughest cases for all the major flagship devices, and they've been in the business for forever I like checking out their lineup every year, because they continue to improve on their cases and really have a little something for everyone, whether you want total and complete protection for your phone with something like the Defender Series or a decent amount of protection, while still being able to show off with a clear symmetry case. The folks at Letterbox were super generous and sent over a sample of each of their different series of cases for me to take a look at and compare, and they even included a couple extra variations of the cemetery series, which I'll talk about too, and if you're interested in learning more about these cases or perhaps picking one up for yourself. I'll have links to all the products featured here at their lowest prices down below in the video description, so be sure to check that out. First up we have the Letterbox Defender Series, and this is the case for the person who wants the maximum amount of protection for their device.
This is the thickest, toughest and most expensive case Letterbox offers, but with that $50 price tag, you're getting essentially the best of the best inside the box, you get the case and Letterbox is well known phone clip which you can attach to your belt and keep your phone holstered to your side. If you're into that. The case itself, though, is that very familiar thick rubber and plastic design that separates into three pieces that offer different layers of protection. The thick rubber outer layer is really flexible and will help absorb and dissipate some impact. If your phone drops on a hard surface, the two piece plastic, inner shell, is rigid, and it too has a bit of a foam layer on the inside for even more impact absorption.
Obviously this is a hefty case, so it's gonna certainly add a bit of size and bulk to the phone which you'll notice right away in the hand around back you've got a proper cutout for the camera and fingerprint sensor. All of your side. Buttons are completely covered, but still usable underneath the case and on the bottom, the headphone, jack and USB-C port are protected from dust and debris by a couple. Rubber flaps, the Defender Series dropped that included plastic screen protector they used to have years ago, and they now have a screen 'less design. But the case is screen protector friendly and Letterbox sells their alpha glass bird glass screen protectors to ensure that you can have total protection even for the front of the phone.
You don't necessarily have to use. Otter box its own tempered glass here, but I think they make a good product that works. Well. All in all the Defender Series has long been the go-to case for folks who want to ensure the safety of their thousand-dollar device and there's really no better option for that. In my opinion.
But if you aren't really about that bulky case, life Letterbox has a few other slimmer options that might work better, the first of which is the commuter series which is a bit sleeker but is still equally tough case. That's a little easier to install and handle, but that still offers a crazy amount of protection for the phone. This case is a two-piece design with a thick, flexible, rubber, inner layer that cradles your phone and absorbs all the impacts and a hard plastic outer shell. That sort of holds everything in place. When it's on the phone, you can see that the case is a little thinner, but still noticeable in the hand.
You still get the same covered side buttons here and the same rubber flap to keep debris out of the ports on the bottom. There's a thick outer edge to keep the screen off of any flat surface, but you can use a screen protector with this case two and side by side with the Defender Series. You really can tell the difference. Things are just a little slimmer with the Commuter Series, but you can see that you really aren't sacrificing any protection at all. I personally prefer the Commuter Series, mainly because of how much easier it is to install and remove compared to the Defender Series, but either way you go you're getting a really solid case.
While the defender and commuter series are both great options. My longtime personal favorite and the Letterbox lineup is the symmetry series. Otter box actually offers a bit of variety with the cemetery series, not to say that the commuter and defender don't have a ton of fun color options they totally do, but with the cemetery series, not only do you get some color options, you also get a crystal clear variation, or you can go all out with some designs and patterns. The cemetery series case is a really simple single piece design. That's made from a combination of plastic on the outside and rubber on the inside.
It's pretty rigid and the rubber inside has this crisscross pattern that acts as a shock absorbing material for drops. It'll certainly protect your phone just fine, but you can see that it's easily the slimmest and thinnest case of the lineup, and that's personally, why I like it so much it's a very simple case, but you still get all of your side. Buttons covered with a nice rubber edge and your ports and S Pen are easily accessible. Underneath the standard commuter series is a great case by itself, but I know a lot of people might prefer to show off their phone a bit more and Letterbox offers some really nice clear cases to do just that. These are built the exact same way as the standard symmetry cases there's still a thick sturdy and rigid hard plastic with a rubber edge for shock absorption, and if you opt for one with a design, you can sort of feel that the pattern here is embedded inside the case.
It's not some like cheap paint or sticker that'll, wear down or rub off over time, which is really nice on the phone. Once again, you get a really slim profile that feels good, even using it with one hand and that totally clear cemetery case really does a nice job staying fingerprint free. So everything looks nice and your phone can show through really well. The buttons on the sides are still covered. Your ports and S Pen on the bottom are right there when you need them and no matter which symmetry case you end up, choosing I think you're, really getting not only a great slim case for the phone, but that well-known Letterbox protection, if anything were to happen to I.
Think most people's biggest gripe with the Letterbox brand is the price of their cases and that's totally understandable. They fall in that forty to fifty dollar range, which is a lot of money for a case, but you are essentially getting the best of the best here to protect your valuable smartphone and I. Think it's a sound investment that makes a lot of sense in the long run. So hopefully you guys enjoyed this video.
