Samsung Galaxy Note 20 vs Motorola Edge - Overall Comparison, Part 2 By DanieBoy's Tech

Hey guys and gals Danny boy here, and today I have part two of my overall comparison between the Samsung Galaxy note, 20 and the Motorola edge. Okay, so in part one we discussed the speeds, displays, builds and camera setups on these phones, and I'm going to continue this discussion with the other categories here in this video again, full retail price of the Galaxy Note, 20 1000 999 literal edge, 700 bucks 699. , so that's kind of where we stand uh price wise. Of course, you know these phones have been on sale at times. I've definitely seen especially the Motorola edge. Okay.

So but that's kind of you know where we're at price wise, so that you can keep that in mind as we kind of go through these categories. Okay, so let's discuss software here at the filming of this video here in late 2020. Right now I got android 10 on both of these phones and uh. You know software wise, we're going to expect that the Samsung definitely has uh significantly more software features. That's just the way Samsung is it's got the bells and the whistles software-wise.

We got one UI. You know 2.5 here, I believe: okay, so definitely a good experience software-wise from Samsung. Okay. If I look at these different categories here, um, you know, we've got a lot going on uh and pretty much uh. You know whatever you consider.

We've got different themes and wallpapers. Okay, definitely like this lock screen, you got an always on display. You got advanced features. Just being the note 20 you got the s pen, you can customize the side key. You got big speed.

You just got different things here, guys that you can do uh on the note 20 here. This phone has a sidebar here that you can customize. Okay, so perfect software set up here on the note 20, like the always on display there, okay, guys so definitely good here, Motorola edge. I would say it's good. It doesn't have near the software customizations, and you know that, in my opinion, that the the Galaxy Note has, but it's not bad.

Okay, it's definitely good um. So you know if I get into the settings here kind of see what we got going on. It definitely has more of a stock vibe going on here guys, but we do have. You know a fair share of stuff. We got edge panel or edge lighting and edge.

We got an edge panel on this phone um. Furthermore, we do have. Oh, let's see here. Um got some sound customization. Okay, you've got that on the Samsung too, but I think more on the Samsung um.

You know it's just not as much going on here it really. If you want to get to the settings you have to launch this Motorola icon and then this kind of takes you through the personalization of the phone. Okay- and you know you can kind of see what we got going on here. Um, you got a peak display, so no always on display kind of what she had that here. But you don't.

You do have this little sidebar here, but that's about the extent of it. You can customize it with different apps and I think you know you got your software tools here, really not near as much going on here, guys um, but it's good. Furthermore, you know I could definitely daily drive the Motorola edge for a year here. I's got enough. Software features that I could but me personally.

I definitely prefer the more customizations of the Galaxy Note 20. So now, let's talk about unlocking the phone and what I mean by that is how we get into the phone with the screen. Lock. These phones are pretty similar in what they offer in that both of these phones offer a know, face unlock and both of them have an end display fingerprint reader. Okay.

So if I demonstrate the face unlock here on the note 20 uh, you can see there, it's its pretty good, okay, it's not the fastest I've seen, but it's good fingerprint wise. This one has not been as good for me on the note 20. You know. Sometimes it works perfect. Sometimes I've had a lot of misses so generally, I have that turned off.

I've been trying it again recently, and it's gotten better, I would say, with software updates, but it's still not where I would like to see it. On the other hand, guys- and in my opinion, Motorola really shines here- they've got a good face unlock now you got to kind of hold is closer than the note 20 for that um, but it is reliable and good. Okay and then uh their fingerprint reader, in my opinion, is just it's just a lot better. Okay on the Motorola edge here, gets it every time, no matter what scenario I'm in, I don't have a problem here with the fingerprint reader. I leave it on all the time and, in my opinion, the edge beats the note 20 in this category for sure.

So, even though this phone costs less, I think it's unlocking is better speaker wise, again uh this one's interesting. Now. Both of these phones have dual speaker, setups uh, unique to the note 20. Are they put the speaker here on the left side on the bottom instead of the typical right side? So that's unique. I definitely like that placement for sure now.

Loudness wise I'd say it definitely goes to the Motorola edge. I mean I've discussed in other videos how the edge here really has flagship level dual speakers set up here I mean it's really amazing that you get this quality of speakers for the price clarity wise you could say. I think that the note 20 is a little clearer and better sound, but if you're looking for loudness, I think it definitely goes to the Motorola edge here now. If you want a sound test refer to the other video, I did compare these speakers more in detail, because this is just the overall here guys um so interesting there and finally, let's discuss the batteries on these phones guys. So we know we got a 4300 William hour battery here versus a 4500 William hour battery on the Motorola edge.

My usage wise, I was getting about five to ten percent less battery at the end of the day here on the note 20, so five to ten percent more here on the no on the literal edge. Now, of course, the note 20 has and always on display right. So that's going to hit the battery a little, however. The edge does have a 90 hertz panel, a 90 hertz display, and I leave that on 24 7. As a matter of fact, at the filming of this particular video.

As far as I can tell Motorola has removed, via software update the ability to toggle the 90 hertz on and off. I can't find it now. So, as far as I know, this is stuck on 90 hertz, don't like that they removed that. But that's besides the point. The point is this phone was always running at 90 hertz for me um, and yet it got that better battery life 5 to ten percent.

So my experience on this on between these phones is a better battery experience here on the Motorola edge um. So, interestingly enough, uh- and you know part two here uh- I think software wise. We definitely have a better experience. Note 20, but these last three categories unlocks speakers batteries. I think it is.

You know the Motorola edge is better in those categories. At least that's what my experience has been guys so kind of interesting how that works out, considering we're at your know, 300. Less here on the Motorola edge. Now, of course, charging wise. If you want to discuss that, you got wireless charging here.

You've got a 25 watt fast charging brick here versus an 18 watt here, no wireless charge on the Motorola edge, okay, so charging wise definitely goes to the note 20 um, but as far as battery performance, my experience has been better on the edge so guys you know that's kind of uh yeah. That's part, two um both of these phones are great phones, guys I mean you know, speed wise. Your notes, going to win camera wise, the note's going to win um build wise. I think it goes to the note. Um displays.

That's definitely more of a debatable issue. If I had to pick one at the end of the day. I'd probably pick the note, but that's definitely more close. I think uh just because the note that super AMOLED I mean this is AMOLED too, but it's just how Samsung calibrates the display, it just seems, perfect uh. You do have the 90 hertz here and that's great, but if I had to pick between them, I'd probably go with the node on the display, but you can see here guys how these phones are pretty comparable and the Motorola does really, really well here, considering it has the 300 less price tag so guys.
