Hey everybody David and David here from payetteforward. com and uppphone. com, and in this video we're going to explain what to do when your Samsung Galaxy won't charge. Don't automatically assume that this is a hardware problem because it could be a software problem. Software is what decides when your galaxy is going to charge or stop charging. So first thing we're going to do is the restart force restarted uh, it's possible that the software crashed in your galaxy screen on black.
It's actually charging right now. You just can't tell because the screen's black, and it's unresponsive right so to first restart your Samsung Galaxy. This is the s20. It is the power key and the volume down button you just press and hold those simultaneously for uh. You know 15 20 seconds, there's a software problem.
It might be a little longer just wait for the Samsung logo to appear on the screen right. We're not doing that because we're doing a screen recording right now, because we want to show you some other features. So yes, otherwise we would do that. Yeah, just keep pressing and holding, and eventually it'll restart and for a lot of people that will fix the problem yep. So let's talk about the other number one problem: yeah, it's uh number one and number one! No there's a clogged charging port, that's what it is so grab a toothbrush that you've never used before or an anti-static brush if you're, a real nerd and brush this charging port out yeah.
This is a pretty much a brand-new phone. So there's not gonna, be anything in here and I can't even get in that. Well, but you have to smash, it doesn't be afraid, don't use metal stuff that will you know short something out or damage the components. But if you use sort of a medium toothbrush, you can really get in there you're not going to damage anything. That's what you used to use the Apple Store, yeah, toothpicks, don't use those wood will splinter off right, tissues, tissues, anything! That's going to leave a residue yeah anyway.
You get the idea right now and then just try plugging your cable back in a lot of time that will fix the proper people right. But one of the issues that we talked to a cable company wants is that people are just requesting new cables and new cables and new cables, and if you just tell them to clean up the charging port, you know with all that pocket lens up there blocking the connection. That's what it is yeah a lot of the time, but it could be something else. So the next thing could be is the actual charger yep. So lets um talk about chargers with galaxies.
You can use wireless charging using one of these crazy things or a smaller QI charger, or you can use USB. So my thought is: if you're using wireless charging, try it the USB and if you're, using the USB and with the power adapter fry wireless charger, yeah, or you know, try it in your car wall charger yeah, reverse wireless charging an option on this phone, it's the same as wireless charging yeah it's just, but it's yeah, oh with a different device. Yeah: reverse wireless charger: yes, yeah interesting, yes, so just to try different chargers, I'll try also try different cables. You want to inspect your cable. This one is brand new, but if it's frayed on either side or some discoloration just be wary of that yep definitely different cables.
Different chargers, you'd be surprised yep. So, if you rule all that stuff out, one thing you want to do is check for a software update and if a hard reset- or in this case a force restart this isn't an iPhone right. If a force restart fixes the problem, we haven't actually addressed that software issue that caused the problem to begin with. So a software update check for one of those and if one's available install it yeah we'll go to settings I'll swipe down to the right hand, corner of the screen and tap on the gear icon, and I'm going to scroll down to system updates check for system updates. Samsung Galaxy is up-to-date.
I just did that necessary at this time. I did it yesterday, oops. How dare you can't show you how to do that? It's possible that you've installed a bad app that is interfering with the charging process. There are a lot of third-party apps out there that promise to improve your charging processor, make it charge faster, preserve the battery and not necessarily a great idea to use one of these apps they're, not magic, yeah, let's charge it the regular one but fast charge 2.0. What more do you need fast charge? 3.0, but let's not go crazy. So if you installed an app that is supposed to optimize charging uninstall it yeah, let's show them how to do that yep.
So, let's go back to the main page of settings. It's gonna! It's gonna! Go there. We go tap on apps, and we just installed one. I think this one actually has pretty decent reviews. I don't know how, like we're, not going to knock any specific app, but this one's called fast charging.
There are a lot of these yep and then just tap that uninstall button at the bottom of the screen. You want to uninstall this app. Okay, yep might be worth turning your phone off and back on again. If it's not charging that could very well solve the problem yeah. So now, we've exhausted all the options, pretty much yeah, so just contact Samsung support if your phone still isn't working yeah, maybe an older phone, and it's on its last legs check out phone.
com yep upfront. com phones is the best place to compare prices on every phone from every carrier in the US. So we built that website. It's pretty awesome. We think you'll, like it yep thanks for watching this video.
