SAMSUNG Galaxy M51 Unboxing – Quick Review By HardReset.Info

Welcome from the Samsung Galaxy m51, and today I'll go over unboxing along with an overview of the device so getting started. Uh box typical of Samsung uh above we have some paperwork and the symmetric tool as well per usual. So let's just quickly pop it up and see if there's anything extra but per usual, nothing extra, some warranty card, uh, quick, start guide and that's about it. So I just dropped all that to the side. Then we got the device itself, obviously set up to the side for now and charging cable. Now it looks like Samsung, with the m51 moved to fully to the USB c to USB.

So that means that the charger will also have an USB port and that it is so now. Unfortunately, the charger still keeps that puny, uh 25 watt, charging, speed, um and honestly. I would really like to see a better charger, but I will also touch on that a little further later on and give you basically the numbers and stuff like that, and apart from the charger and the cable, we have something that I haven't seen and budget versions of Samsung's for a couple iterations, which is the headphones. Let's see it looks like the device actually has a headphone jack. So that's a nice thumbs up for that now.

The headphones themselves aren't AKG as we've seen, and plenty of the other Samsung devices. For instance like the s series or the note series they're, just the typical Samsung buds and look quite mediocre. They might sound okay, but I wouldn't expect anything super significant out of them. I probably won't be blowing your eardrums away, so, as you can see, that's basically all we get in the box here. So I'll drop that to this side and then move to the phone itself um, let's pop it out there we go set it up here now, as you can see, the device already has been set up.

So this is kind of post setup, and that is also so. I could check out some features of the device and actually have something to talk about. So obviously you can see um, probably the biggest part of this device is the display right here and that's a 6.7 inch super AMOLED 1080p by 2400 display. So this thing is fairly nice, actually really nice and for a mid-range spec device a little of a higher price tag. I really like the display here.

It's fairly minimal, takes the majority of the front of the device itself, looks really modern and on par, basically with flagship devices. The only grip that I have right here is that a little like a circle around the camera and the black one, so it's not necessarily as minimal as on folds or the note series is where the lens was basically the only thing visible in the display. So it's like I'm saying basically a little bigger, uh drop here. Uh whole then some other flagship devices have- and apart from that, when it comes down to the screen to body ratio, it's an 86.7 percent so really respectable, especially for a mid-range device with a 393 pixels per inch, and that is just kind of what we are used to now. Nowadays, basically, every device does come out either either either a flagship or just a mid-range device come with that 1080p resolution and they all kind of come out to have an around 400 pixels per inch.

That's just kind of like the standard right now and manufacturers decided to uh step away from trying to have the highest resolutions possible. So this is basically the standard at the moment. What I would call it and then um the last thing about the display uh, the disappointing part. It has gorilla glass, 3, so a little behind. I assume that it's just so they could save on costs, even though the device is already a little more pricey for a mid-range device than I would honestly like.

So that's a little of a shame, and that also means that your device front glass won't be as durable as it is on other devices nowadays, because most of them are using gorilla, glass, 5, even the mid-range devices, so that's basically the display. So now we can move on to the camera section and, as you can see, hopefully uh this cutout here, that's a 32 megapixel wide sensor. So I fairly have the sensor right here now, unfortunately, even though it has a high pixel account, it's not going to be anything uh amazing. In terms of video. It only captures at 1080p 30 frames, which is a bit of a shame: uh considering uh, oh smaller sensors, that capture at 4k and primarily meaning Samsung.

So I think, like 20 something megapixels on what was it thing like the s20s? I could capture at 4k 60. I might be wrong. Furthermore, I don't exactly remember. Don't have the paperwork right here to back that up, but I remember it was something along those lines. So the front face the front sensors.

There were fairly nice honestly, but I just open it up and actually see how the front facing camera works, so I'm going to switch it around and well there. I am obviously so, let's see, if that's going to change anything, it looks like it's going to make it worse. So let's keep it on. I'm going to move it a little to the side, so I'll get rid of this here. That's a video, not really what I wanted photos there we go.

It looks like it's dealing with HDR. Actually, let's make it a little harder for the device. As you can see, there is the light right above here and that is going to make well capturing a photo, a little harder for any device, but it looks like it did a perfect job. So let's see the gallery for now and see how it came out. So this is like I said before: a 32 megapixel sensor and honestly, it's doing okay, uh, it's not going to be winning any awards honestly, it kind of- although this is really some end, so honestly it does do the job.

Well, um! You can see basically threads my hair. It doesn't do any kind of like both effect, as you can see. So the background is basically as sharp as it could be for a background object. Um. The light has a little of an orangish tint to it yellowish on the photo.

It's not really accurate, but then considering the fact that this is a light that is blasting really bright honestly and this completely dark environment the photo has enough detail and quality to it. So this is a really nice photo, considering the conditions that it had to be captured in so yeah. Now, let's also see the video. So this is the video and now not very long uh, but it already loses on quality. As you can see, uh it's a little less detailed.

It has also a little of grain but, like I said, the uh, the quality here or the environment that it has to shoot in. It's not necessarily the most feasible environment for any kind of phone, so by all means I did okay job, okay, so moving on to the uh back of the device, we have quadruple camera setup. So we have a main sensor is a 64 wide sensor. Then we have a 12 megapixel ultra-wide 5, megapixel micro and 5 megapixel depth. Now I'm also going to mention I'm really happy that they didn't uh go for the 2, megapixel counts, uh, just to increase rack up the account of the cameras here, which majority of the mid-range devices are nowadays doing so just to stay kind of relevant.

They decide to add something like a depth and macro camera, but they're like two megapixels, and they're out of garbage. Now here we have more than twice as high megapixel accounts, so this is a five megapixel uh. It's still not necessarily the greatest. I will show you comparison of, for instance, the table that I captured photos of in, for instance, macro, and you can decide it for yourself, but it's still way better than the quotation mark fake cameras that manufacturers add in they're not really fake, but for all turns and purposes they are literally useless. They are considering the main sensor- skin capture, for instance, better macro shots than the macro lens itself.

So let's flip it over and see how it deals with photos, so flip it over and get the plenty and focus here. So this is the normal one, and I must mean that's going to be the 64 megapixel, I'm going to quickly check it. If I actually can, so that's a video. So it's not fascinating me. It looks like I don't really have options here: let's go to more panorama, pro focus, let's go to pro and see if we have actual options here, nope, not what I'm interested in.

I don't really see an option to change the sensor right here, um, so I'll assume that it's capturing with the 64 megapixel, hopefully um. So this is going to be the 64. , hopefully crossing my fingers. Then this is going to be the ultrawide. Obviously you can see the difference in how much it captures now.

These circumstances right here for the photos, are not necessarily the most optimal uh for the camera, so the photos might not come as good, for instance, as they would go or come out while taking them outside or in actually more open environments. This is just a recording studio, so a fairly crap um environment for camera. So this is the ultrawide and let's also just kind of capture a video and see how it does in terms of stabilization and things like this, so this is again on the normal sensor. There's also the ultra white, if you want to, although the ultra it kind of looks wonky and the zoom of it is significant, as you can see just as a comparison, this is basically taking almost the entire screen, and I'm quite far we switched the normal one. It does take significantly less space, so I assume there's going to be some uh image stabilization.

That's why it's taking zooming in so close. So right now it's recording, so I'm just kind of trying to go around and see how much jittering there is in normal circumstances, without any kind of significant image stabilization. The video would come out kind of shaky because of my hands, so it came out okay and there is detail. Obviously um. Ms stabilization is nothing really significant, but it is here.

So that's a thumbs up, and it does come out respectable. Honestly, I wouldn't mind shooting with that camera. I know also. It looks like it's 30 frames and I don't think there's any option to change that. Actually, I know that there isn't any option to change it, so you're stuck at either capturing footage in a 4k or 1080p, but all of it is at 30 frames, so you're not getting anything higher.

Okay. So once we already that we got the overview of the cameras, we can move into the specs of the device itself. So it's running on snapdragon 730g with a 128 built-in storage, and you have two variants: either the six gigabyte or eight gigabyte ram um so choose whichever one you want: uh minus these six gigabytes. I, as I believe, should be plenty enough for a majority of the people, so if you really wanted you can go for the higher spec, but I don't think it's necessary, especially that you don't get any more actual usable storage for yourself now it does have the option to be expanded via SD card. So again, that's a super thumbs up for that.

I appreciate that they didn't decide to skimp out on that one, and also you have a ridiculously hefty 7 000 William hour battery. This is basically a power bank for some people and this battery should well last you a fairly decent time, probably two days at least I haven't really gotten it. Uh well use it for long enough to actually figure out how long it will last in the normal use, but with this kind of battery I assume it's going to be a substantial amount of time now, like I said before, uh the sad part is it comes with a 25 watt, charger uh. They call it a fast charging and honestly, even though it's 25s- and I would really want to see a better one just so the phone can charge faster. They could, for instance, divide that battery into two and charge it at twice that speed so, for instance, 50 watts- and this would have been already a just- a huge, substantial step up to every other Samsung device.

But I assume they're kind of scared of doing it because of the entire note fiesta that they had at one point, our phones were blowing up, so they're. Basically like one of the last companies that are using 25 watt charging, apart from maybe apple um, I guess they can't really afford their phones blowing up again. So, even though it's using a 25 watt charger, it still can charge the device to 100 in 115 minutes, and now this doesn't seem really that impressive, it's close to two hours, but as a comparison last device that I did a review of was the Huawei p40 lite 5g, and that device had a 4 000 William hour battery 40 watt charger and well. It could charge the device in a single hour to full right, but let's go and consider the fact that this is close to twice as much battery, and it is charging it basically as fast as the 40 watt charger. So that actually came as a surprise to me in terms of just like uh this year, just the specs of it.

So even though it's a fairly crap charger in my opinion, could have been way faster, and the device should shoot or could charge in a significantly shorter amount of time by all means for the size of this battery. It is charging it really quickly, which was surprising to me, and then, apart from that, we can go to the kind of like a minor details of the device. So it comes with a NFC, obviously like almost every device. GPS gyroscope. All that stuff also has a fingerprint, unfortunately um, so to say that the fingerprint sensor is not under display.

It's a side key right here, so it basically functions as a fingerprint, along with the power key or side SD color here um. So that's a little of a shame. I really like to have it under display personal preference honestly, but I assume this will work just as well just a different position and kind of like what I'm used to um and last thing that I will mention the device comes in two different colors, so we have the celestial black, which is the one that I have, although on the box is just written black now, let me quickly wipe it off all the fingerprints, because it is a magnet for it yeah fairly good enough. Now, I'm not sure if you can see it, but this isn't necessarily looking like black. It's looking like a super deep blue um, even though, if I grab the red box, not this part, there we go so right here.

You can see that the version is the black 128. So it's supposed to be black, so celestial black here, as in direct sunlight, probably going to be not already looking like a black color um. It has like this Metallica color to it, even though the phone and the back of the case is plastic and the frame as well and also there's another color called electric blue. Now I don't really have it. I can't really show you how it looks like, but hey.

I assume it's going to be blue, so yeah, and apart from that, we can also look at the device from all around, so I've already seen. We have the uh double power, key uh, fingerprint sensor. Then we have the volume rockers above that on the top. We only have the microphone. Then we have on the other side a tray.

Now this is this. Is the sim slash, also the SD? I believe we have two different sim slots right here and a dedicated SD slot, so you won't have to pick and choose if you want to have two sim cards or one sim and one SD and then on the bottom of the device. We have that headphone jack uh type c port microphone along with the speaker grille. So now that would basically finish up the overview of the device. Now last thing that, I will say is the price which it comes around 350 dollars around.

Now the price might be a little different constrain the prices that I've seen we're not really designed. For us, this is more of a conversion, but it should be somewhere around that maybe a little less, and it's a kind of hard pitch right here.350 dollars, you can get way better devices for that price, and I'm not sure if this device is particularly worth that much now. At the end of the day, it will probably depend on the user if you're a long time, Samsung fan or well cherish yourself. Actually, google services, along with actual reliable company for updates and stuff, like that, then paying a little more for a device. Probably shouldn't be a big deal right here, you're kind of also paying for the reputation of the company, and obviously it's a Samsung, so it does have it.

Their devices are most of the time perfect, reliable. They work um. The phone itself has support for it for a decent amount of time, and obviously it's Samsung. So things like the displays and stuff like that are well they're kind of like the specialty. Now for me, it's lacking a couple of things number one: a smaller price tag and number two a little sturdier builds to it along with uh along with it.

Maybe what do we get? Let's say um, I wouldn't say: maybe wireless charging uh. Oh, I think the key part for me would be the display. Now it is an amazing display by all means, but it's just a 60 hertz. Now recently I've been reviewing different phones, for instance, well, primarily Chinese. So if you have a problem with, for instance like the Chinese companies, then probably this phone is for you, but if you want to get a cheaper device with better specs um, then probably going for some Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Realme and stuff like that, is a better option and the majority of the mid-range devices nowadays come with an at least 90 hertz Defoe display- and this I'm sad to say, is not the case here.

You get just a typical 60 hertz, and that is one of the key things that I'm looking for, and the device at the moment and yeah if you're willing to drop the display quality in terms of like the refresh rate and just not have that battery smooth, feel to it and have a respectable device. I again remind you a little higher price tag than majority other mid-range devices. Then probably there is no. There isn't much choice for you here. This is a no-brainer.

No, no, I probably won't be thinking much about it. Um. The only other option with like really reliable devices probably would have the iPhones and that's about it from what I can think about from the top of my head, honestly. The rest of this is just Chinese brands or friends that were respectable or reputable, but stops being like Huawei um, so yeah. Now, at the end of the day, and just to conclude this, it's a perfect device.

Uh works well runs, the cameras are really decent honestly for a mid-range device. They work flawlessly. The device is fast. It has plenty enough ram. It has a huge- and I cannot stress this now- this is a absolute unit of a battery in here, so that is again another positive of this device.

Furthermore, it has basically everything that you'd expect from a device um, and it just sacrifices from a flagship from like the additional features like I would say. Well, I guess I have to for Samsung include the faster refresh rate and the premium shelf, because Samsung kind of reserves that for just the premium devices and several other things that, for instance, we might not be fun like care about, for instance, like the wireless charging um. But apart from that, the device has everything that a normal user could need and the fact that it runs smoothly and probably will last you several days with the battery is an is good enough for me to recommend this device if you're looking for specifically a Samsung phone or any kind of Chinese phone.
