Hey guys, it's time to do a full comparison between the Galaxy, j5 2015 hair versus the 2016 model here and wouldn't be talking about what are the differences and should you upgrade or buy the new g7 2016, you know, is it worth buying or not I'm going to be talking about that comparing to the older model? So, first, if we talk about the price, the j7 2016 is costing around three hundred dollars at least where I live in between 300 350 dollars. You know, and this older here I think it's now costing around 200 to $20.00, so it's pretty cheap. So let's just talk about hair. What are the differences? First in terms of the design and the build quality? Now you can see that both phones are made up of plastic, but now they have made DJ 7 2016 7 premium. It has this metallic metal. You can say aluminum on the sides just to make it a little more premium and still has this a removal back.
So you can, you know, remove the back easily and swap out the battery, so we got same stuff from the last year just quickly open up this back. You can see the battery size is now different here, because this battery is 3,300 versus the three total MIMO battery on the j7 2015. It's also better with the performance you know, screen on time has increased, and you can also notice that this time Samsung has given us three separate trays. You know for the micros card and the two SIM cards. You can do that on this one also, but you know you have to put like one SIM card and micros card in this same tray, but now it's much more convenient with the new j7 2016, so I'm just going to close the backs here and of course there are dual sim phones.
Furthermore, you know 4G supported, so that is great also if we get right into the front of these phones. Of course, 5.5 inch display a 720p, HD solution. I believe there is a 1080p version in China, I, don't know, but most probably everywhere there will be in 720p version. You know this one will be billable, so you said it's a nice display. Okay, I got a same so nice display, but as a small firm guy, you know, I have these top phones.
I have to say if iPhone 5 in 720p is not that much of a good comb combination. You know they should have upgraded the display 1080p at least 1080p. You know, but Samsung is Samsung. They still have 720p display. They have gone really cheap here, but yeah.
It's still, okay for most people as long as they don't watch movies and stuff like that on their phone. You know, because 1080p makes a lot of difference, especially you know when you're watching YouTube videos and all that, so you can see both are having the same screen size. We have these touch buttons: the home button, Samsung's usual design, language, the software of course bj5. The GSM in 2015 here has the 5.1.1 lollipop versus the new j7 2016, which comes with the marshmallow right out of the box, which is a great thing we can go into about device section, and if you check out the software info, you can see a 6.0 point 1. This is 5.1.1 lollipop. There's no news about the marshmallow update for the GSM 2015 as of today, but you know who knows you might get the update in the future, so they are very similar again.
There's no, basically, no performance differences there with the marshmallow RAM is you know the RAM management is pretty much the same. They if you have watched my speediest video, you know what I'm talking about, so you can see, but some differences like we have in the status bar. You know the quick settings area. This is more like white and cleaner. You can say closer to like stock Android type of touch, their material tab, design, thing theme, type thing.
You know this one of course typical Samsung's, blue old UI color, and if we just check out here that both phones have team engine, which is great, you can a download a lot of free themes, so yeah Samsung's UI, it's okay. Of course, you can install launchers if you won't do, but they're not going to be noticing any differences. Software wise there are no additions, additional features in the software. Also, if we talk about the processors now we do have a little better chipset in the j7 2016 a little better. Okay.
If we just quickly take a look at CPU Z, you can notice that both processors are OCTA course. They are clocked at 1.5, 9 gigahertz. You can see here, but the clock speed of part core. You know each core clock. Speed is like higher on the newer model, so the tip set inside the Galaxy j7 2016 is the Enos 7870.
While here we have Exodus 75 80 and the only difference. The big difference here is the GPU which is melody.830 inside j7 versus Male T 720 on the jf7 2015. You cannot expect like a hundred percent faster GPU year, of course we're talking about budget phone, so the differences will be like 5% or 10% faster speed. That's all, and I'll be doing a gaming test. Also, so you can see the base clock.
Speed of the GSM in 2016 is at 546 megahertz, and it never goes down. You know less than the 546 here. It's always 400. You know the base clock. Speed is 400, so they've done a little tweak to the 7580, and you know has this new GPU in name gauge 7870 so but in general speed, wise details, I'm in 2016 is just slightly faster overall compared to the j7 2015 next off.
If we talk about the cameras in these bad boys, both are having 30 megapixel camera on the back with the LED flash and for speaker, so not that much of a change design on the back. Also, so on the front you got five negative camerae with LED flash so pretty much the same stuff. Camera UI is also pretty same looking. You can see the modes here. The j7 2016 has this night mode, which is kind of a new addition there other than that pretty much the same stuff HDR beauty face.
We can take a look here at the other settings if we check out the full settings here, you can see the video recording is up to full HD 1080p and both have this quick launch feature where you can launch the camera by pressing the double pressing, the home button. You know it's like. Basically, there's no difference at all when it comes to the camera. You know the camera UI. But if you talk about the picture quality, the GSM in 2016 produces a little better pictures when it comes to colors.
You know it's like more, vibrant and I'd have to say it's like a marketing trick by Samsung. You know you can capture photos like this on the j7 2015 you can just you just have to do a little of editing with the built-in editor and that's pretty much it. Furthermore, you know and basically for the price. The j7 2016 is doing a great job, giving you nice pictures the way you expect from a 300 dollar phone and also front camera is 5 megapixels, which also can record and the HD video up to Full HD video, actually, which is get great things. So, let's take a look at the videos.
So, lastly, if we talk about the batteries in these bad boys, again, we have a little bigger battery size with the j7 2016 and will that make a big difference? No, not at all, because j7 2015 is great with the battery life, it's slightly better with the j7 2016. That's all I have to say, and you can still expect the phone to give you in between five and six hours of screen on time. Just like the j7 2015 yeah, that's pretty much it guys to just wrap up this whole video. If you are currently using GSM in 2015, it's definitely not worth upgrading to chase them in 2016 you're, pretty much. You know, pieing the same phone just with this a little change in the design.
So my suggestion is to go for like something else like. If you have three no dollars. There are a lot of good options and if you are like a true Samsung user, you can try out their Galaxy S series, because you know specs wise they're the same, but the build quality is a lot more premium. You know that glass and metallic combination- and they even have fingerprint sensor, so I'm, going to be comparing the j7 2016 to the galaxy a7 and the j5 2016 to the galaxy a5 camera wise. Also, so you can decide you know which phone you have to bottom.
There are other options like Nexus 5x, you know I know a lot of people want me to compare the j7 to the Nexus 5x, so hopefully I'll be doing that video pretty soon. So, thank you so much for watching this video and again give it a thumbs up. If you enjoyed, and I'll catch you guys in the next one peace out.
