Samsung Galaxy A52 vs Samsung Galaxy A21s - Worth the Upgrade? By Kevin Breeze

What's going on everybody, this is Andre here with the Kevin breeze channel and in this video we're going to be doing a comparison between the Samsung Galaxy a52 and the Samsung Galaxy a21s. Before we go any further. I do want to point out that this is the international variant of the Samsung Galaxy a52. That being said, let's get started so the Samsung Galaxy a52 has a six and a half inch 90 hertz super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080p a PPI of 407, an aspect ratio of 20 by 9 and a screen to body ratio of 84.6. We got a hole, punch right here for the front facing camera, and this camera is 32 megapixels. The Samsung Galaxy a21s has a six and a half inch pls TFT display, with a resolution of 720p a PPI of 270, an aspect ratio of 20 by nine and a screen to body ratio of 82.8 percent. There's a hole, punch right here as well for the front-facing camera, and this camera is 13 megapixels, so both of them have the same size display, but the a52 definitely has a better quality with a higher resolution.

In 1080p and a super AMOLED display is going to have a lot brighter and more powerful colors than a pls TFT display. In addition to that, the Samsung Galaxy a52 also has a 90 hertz display, whereas the Samsung Galaxy a21s only has a 60 hertz display. The reason this matters is that the 90 hertz display is going to have a lot smoother and faster movement on the screen so for content, consumption in even just general scrolling you're going to see a lot smoother more fluid motion on the Samsung Galaxy a52 than you will on the a21s. So the Samsung Galaxy a52 has 128 gigabytes of internal storage with micros card expansion, and the a21s has 64 gigabytes of internal storage with micros card expansion. So the a52 definitely has an edge here with double the storage of the a21s.

Now 64 isn't really that bad. I pretty much consider that the minimum that I would be comfortable with and taking a look at the storage section on the phones themselves. Right now on the a52 30.84 gigabytes are being used, taking up 24 of the space and on the a21s.21.5 gigabytes are being taken up, taking up 34 of the space, so there's definitely a huge difference here. If you're just using the phone for basic activities and don't have a lot of anything to go on it, then the a21s is gonna, be plenty of space for you. But if you have a lot of larger apps or maybe some games or something on the phone, or you have lots of photos and videos, then the a52 is definitely gonna, be worth it just for the storage alone, because this is so much more, and you can't really put apps on a micro SD card like you can with photos and videos, so in general, it's better to have more space on the phone itself than on a micros card anyway.

Now neither of these phones have wireless charging, but both of them have a fingerprint scanner and face unlock it's nice to have both options, because then, if one's not working out for you say you're wearing a glove or something, then the other will probably work better. Now the Samsung Galaxy a52 has a fingerprint scanner right here on the display and the a21s has the fingerprint scanner right here on the back more like one of the old-fashioned fingerprint scanners, I personally like the in-display fingerprint scanner is the best just because it looks so much better. It really gives the phone a modern feel to it that I think, really suits the look well, but we're going to test this fingerprint scanner out and see how it works perfect one more time, no problems there. Not only does it look good, but it's also really fast and responsive, so I have no problem with it. Let's check out the fingerprint scanner for the a21s one more time and that one is really fast and responsive as well.

The only real difference is the fingerprint scanner on the a52, in my opinion, looks a lot better, just because the in display fingerprint scanner just looks so much more modern, but as far as functionality goes they're, basically identical both of them do their job really. Well, now, taking a look at the rear camera setups with the Samsung Galaxy a52, we got a 64, megapixel, rear camera, a 12 megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 5 megapixel depth, sensing camera and a 5 megapixel macro camera. With the a21s we got a 48 megapixel rear camera, an 8 megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2 megapixel depth, sensing camera and a 2 megapixel macro camera. So, as far as the different cameras go, both of these phones have pretty much everything. But it looks to me, like the quality of the cameras on the a52, are a little better.

Now, let's check out a sample photo and see if this actually holds up. So these two pictures were taken by the rear camera of each phone, and they were taken in the exact same spot. In the same lighting, I definitely would say the Samsung Galaxy a52 does take a better picture. The picture is so much brighter. The colors are more vivid and the details are perfect with the a21s.

The picture isn't too bad. The colors are definitely not very bright at all. In fact, the lighting in itself just isn't really handled very well. It's so dim compared to the picture taken by the a52, so in general, if the camera is one of the more important points for you, I would say the a52 does have a huge advantage here, and this should definitely be taken into consideration. In addition to that, the Samsung Galaxy a52 is able to shoot in 4k in both cameras.

As far as video goes in, the a21s can only shoot in 1080p in each camera. So if you're shooting a lot of videos and really want that quality, then the a52 is definitely gonna, be the better option here. Internally, the Samsung Galaxy a52 is getting six gigabytes of ram with the Qualcomm snapdragon 720 g processor. We ran a geek bench 5 benchmark test on the phone, and it came back with a single core score of 538 and a multi-core score of 15.59. The a21s is getting 4 gigabytes of ram with the Enos 850 processors.

We ran a geek bench 5 benchmark test on this phone as well, and it came back with a single core score of 183 and a multi-core score of 1092, so the a52 definitely has a significant advantage here. If I were gonna, do something like high performance gaming or photo and video editing, I most likely wouldn't choose the a21s for that kind of thing. The a21s is gonna, be good for browsing the web, going on social media, doing basic mobile activities, taking pictures, editing those pictures and maybe consuming some content too. But if you're trying to do more high performance activities, then the a52 is gonna, be a lot better. To give you a better idea of what this difference in power, it looks like I'm going to do a little demonstration, so first we're gonna, open Google Chrome.

So, as you can see there, the a52 did open. Google Chrome faster, we're gonna, try webpage now, so the a52 did pull up that web page quite a bit faster. We're going to do one more so again. The difference here is really clear in terms of processing power and speed in pretty much everything. The Samsung Galaxy a52 is clearly a step above the Samsung Galaxy a21s.

So if you're looking for that extra processing power, the a52 is going to be the way to go. Now. The battery is where the a21s definitely does have a clear win here. The Samsung Galaxy a52 has a 4500 William hour battery that supports 25 watt fast charging, and the a21s has a 5 000 William hour battery that supports 15 watt fast charging. Now I don't really count the fast charging they support as much of an extra feature, because not everybody really even uses a fast charger, I'm mostly just looking at the size of the battery and the a21s does have a slightly bigger battery.

So if you're on the go a lot and don't really get to plug your phone in all the time, then this is a good case for getting the a21s, because this one is going to last a little longer than the a52 now in terms of features, the a52 definitely has a lot more extra stuff. This phone has NFC the technology behind google and Samsung pay, whereas the a21s doesn't, and the a52 also has dust and water resistance. One of the first phones in this price range I've seen that actually does have that as a feature, whereas the Samsung Galaxy a21s, of course, doesn't so in conclusion, which one of these devices is better feature wise in everything except the battery. The Samsung Galaxy a52 is the undisputed winner. Here, there's really nothing besides the battery the Samsung Galaxy a21s does better.

That being said, there are many situations where the a21s might make a little more sense for you to get. If you don't really care about the camera, if you're not doing lots of high performance activities and if you're really just using your phone for basic activities and maybe consuming content here and there and that sort of thing, but also want to make sure that you have enough battery life to get through the day without charging it, then the a21s would make a lot of sense. But if you want extra processing power or taking perfect photos is important to you, or you like a better display for something like high performance, gaming or content, consumption or reading. Or you just want a nicer looking more modern phone, then the Samsung Galaxy a52 is probably going to be the better choice for you.
