ROG Phone vs Razer Phone - Best Gaming Phone? Comparison Review By GizmoSlipTech

What's up and welcome to the episode of gizmo slept Tech today we're going to talk about the new phone from Asus and compare it to the razor phone, we're talking about the DOG phone or the Republic of gamers phones. This thing has a 90 Hertz OLED panel, an overclocked processor, with a vapor chamber to increase cooling as well as vent ports. On the back, we have a new contender for best Android gaming phone, which one's better the DOG phone versus the razor phone. Today we're breaking that down and comparing them, it's going to be freaking epic. Let's get started now giving away an iPhone 10 for the month of June. First up. Let's talk about the design. The DOG phone has an extremely gamer focused design from the gold splashes on the top and bottom of the minimal bezel display to the RGB customizable logo. On the back to the fan, vents that allow for additional cooling for extended gaming sessions to the funky elongated fingerprint sensor to the futuristic lines covering the device, it takes more than one design, cue from the DOG gaming laptop lineup and there's nothing subtle about it. Now.

The razor phone, on the other hand, has squared off edges a Racer logo on the back volume buttons in the middle of the sides for ease of useful gaming, as well as a side mounted power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor. One great thing about the DOG phone is: it manages to have very minimal vessels while at the same time not including a notch. I, don't hate the notch. The new Android software does a great job of hiding it overall, but I. Think phone designs just look cleaner without it.

Well, the razor phone rocks large bezels that house dual front firing speakers which are very impressive to listen to you well I doubt the speakers on the DOG phone will be as good. There are also dual front-facing speakers. No, neither phone has wireless charging, but they both have four thousand William hour batteries with fast charging included as well. It's also important to note that the DOG phone is the only phone that has an IP 68 rating between the two. The razor phone is actually very susceptible to water because of those open front facing speaker grills, you definitely want to keep the razor phone far away from water.

Now there are some really cool additional features on the DOG phone, one of which is the air triggers along the top. These allow you to position fake buttons over your apps, so they can tap anywhere on the screen when you hit either air trigger the ideal use case for these triggers, in my opinion, is a game like pub G mobile, where you can tap the left, one to aim down sights and tap the right one to fire. This frees up your thumbs to aim and move well firing. Now the DOG phone has four major accessories. Well, the razor phone has no proprietary ones, of course, there are third-party controllers that you might be able to use with the razor phone, but no official Racer branded accessories.

The first accessory comes in the box. It's an edition fan that goes over the back of the phone and helps cool the overclocked processor as it hooks to the vent ports, and then it also adds a USB, C and headphone jack to the bottom of the device. So they don't get in the way of your hands while you're gaming. The second is a docking station that turns your phone into a mini PC with a plethora of ports for USB, a USB-C, a LAN and HDMI, and audio in and out h2s also allows you to map different areas of the screen to each keyboard and mouse button, so that you can actually play with the keyboard and mouse I. Personally, don't see that many people using this, but for those of you who don't have a gaming PC or a console.

This is a solid alternative. The third accessory available for the DOG phone is the 3ds like docking case. That gives you a second screen and some physical buttons to play with. It also has an SD card slot and an additional 6000 mAh battery to help power ball screens and keep the phone going for extended gaming sessions. The main use for this is either multitasking watching Netflix, while you play, for example, or streaming on Twitch, and you can see the chat and see the stream to make sure that everything is going.

Okay. Well, you play on the main device now. The fourth accessory is dual side mounted controllers that give you tactile and physical thumb sticks for playing games. I think this is really cool, and this allows the phone to be a legit competitor to the Nintendo Switch. Obviously, you're not gonna, get all the games from the switch like Smash, Brothers and Mario Cart and Mario Odyssey, but I can see a lot of people buying this phone with the controllers, rather than springing the extra money to get intend to switch, especially since the games on the switch are so expensive.

That's all the accessories for the DOG phone. Let's talk about the displays on these two phones. They are probably the number one feature on these two smartphones, and it's because they are the high refresh rate displays from quickly scrolling through menus to playing games to the smoothness of opening and closing apps. It's a much improved user experience now. One thing you have to keep in mind is that since YouTube only allows 60 frames per second video, if you're looking at side-by-side comparisons, you're not going to be able to tell a difference because YouTube only capture, 60 out of 120 total frames, so you can't tell the smoothness without seeing it with the naked eye.

The best way to truly tell the difference is to see the high refresh rate screen in person. From my experience using the razor phone, the increased refresh rate makes a huge difference and overall usability and a solid feeling of control over the device. Now the DOG phone uses a 90 Hertz refresh rate Oh led fall, HD plus. So this is a lower resolution than the quad HD, plus that's on the razor phone and the razor phone has a 120 Hertz, refresh rate for extra smooth bitterness. Now that additional resolution on the razor phone will increase the detail and clarity of the display, but you'll have to be looking very close to notice a difference now on the razor phone, you can actually set the display to run at 60, 90 or 100 Hertz, and when you set the displays at the varying levels, you can notice a distinct difference at 60, 90 and 120.

Now, both 90 and 120 is vastly superior to 60, but there's only a small difference between 90 and 120. It's noticeable it's there, but it's definitely not a deal-breaker. Only having 90 the vast majority of improvement is done at that 90 Hertz refresh rate. Now the fact that the DOG is rocking an OLED panel is huge because it has increased brightness, better contrast and a wider color gamut. Now the razor phone has that increased resolution and higher refresh rate, but I would personally prefer an O that in 90 Hertz for better picture quality any day.

So, in my opinion, the DOG phone definitely has a leg up, but if you want the ultimate smooth experience, the razor phones, additional 30 Hertz will definitely be a noticeable improvement. Now the DOG phone has the adrenal 630 GPU and a snapdragon 845 processors that is overclocked by about 5%. Well, the razor phone has a snapdragon 835 and an adrenal 540 game. Your match will be about 35% stronger and the DOG phone, since it has updated specs and the processor comes with a slight overclock. Now this additional performance will be especially noticeable in games like pub G mobile, where the performance is struggling to hit 60 frames per second on either phone.

If the DOG phone performs similar to the galaxy s 9, which has the exact same specs except for the slight overclocked processor I, would expect about 10 frames per second more in pub G mobile than the razor phone. On the other hand, there are a lot of titles that already play at 90 to 100 frames per second on either phone. Examples of this would be vain glory or titan fall assault on the tiles. The increased performance won't be noticeable. Now, for day-to-day use that 5% overclocked processor and the DOG phone might give it a slight edge over the razor phone in traditional speed tests that represent day-to-day usage, but we'll have to see when we actually get our hands on now.

Both phones have a 4000 mAh battery. That means the primary factor for determining the battery life is the display and the settings that you have it on with both displays maxed out at 90, Hertz or 120 Hertz. In the case of the razor, the OLED panel on the DOG phone can potentially take more juice because it can get brighter and absorb more battery life. So, if you're playing both phones on max brightness, the DOG phone will probably die a little faster because that OLED panel and max brightness is going to suck that battery dry really quickly. That said, the razor phone is at a higher resolution and, if you're running at a 120 Hertz, it's also refreshing at a higher rate, and for that reason, if both phones are at the same brightness level, I would expect the DOG phone to outperform the razor phone by about 15% or so, but we'll have to see either way.

Both of these phones are going to easily be able to get you through the day, especially if you turn them down to 60 Hertz refresh rate. Then there will be battery life monsters being able to probably go for two days of solid use. Now the razor phone comes with 64 gigs of storage, with an expandable micros card slot. The DOG phone, on the other hand, can come with either 128 gigs or 512. Now the downside here is: there's no micro, SD card expandable slot on the DOG phone.

Now the cameras on both of these devices won't be the best, but they're surprisingly passable. The razor phone is rocking the same camera sensors that the Galaxy S7 had inside. So you can expect performance close to a flagship from two years ago. On the other hand, the DOG phone cameras have yet to be tested, but they're rumored to be the same ones in the Asus before 5, which weren't terrible the before 5 managed to get a DXO mark score of 90, which is quite good until the DOG officially comes out, and we can do some camera tests, though we won't know which one is better yet we do not know the release date or the pricing for the DOG phone. It's rumored to go on sale at the end of July, so that'd be about a month, half out right now, now I'm, estimating the cost of the KG phone will be between $6.99 or 849 for the base model. So it will be quite a bit more than the razor phone, which was recently marked down for a price of 599.

To sum this up the number one reason to get the DOG phone is because of that 90 Hertz OLED display it's gonna, be gorgeous. It's gonna, be brighter more vivid, I, think a much better entertainment experience and, of course you have the air triggers. If you love gaming, but I, think this phone, even though it looks very gamer II, a lot of non gamers might buy it simply because of that 90 Hertz OLED display now, of course, there's also the accessories that the DOG phone has, but I think they're, mostly gonna, be gimmicks. Unless there's a specific accessory that you go. Oh man, I'm definitely going to get that and use it all the time.

Of course, the overclocked processor is probably not going to make that big of a difference, but we'll have to wait and see until we get in their hands, and we can do those speed tests and gaming benchmarks. Currently, the main reasons to get the razor phone is number one: the decreased price, the higher resolution display and, of course, that additional 30 Hertz refresh rate providing the smoothest Android experience that you can currently buy. For me personally, if I had to pick between the two, and I had an unlimited budget. I would definitely pick the DOG phone simply because of the OLED display and I, really like the idea of those air triggers for when playing Club G mobile I mean it'd, be a massive advantage anyway.
