Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so it's been quite a while, since I've actually posted a video, it's been a week of mostly a lot of in-depth consumer level, testing, nothing with benchmarks and whatnot, and I'm actually super surprised and about a lot of many good things about this phone and a lot of little weird perks that they kind of have to figure out and one major letdown -. Let's just go straight to it. We're going to be talking about the razor phone today when I was originally looking for a phone I wanted this phone to have a gigantic battery. It has a four thousand William battery and I also wanted it to be very reminiscent of my Nokia Lucia 1520 phone, that was the last Windows Phone I ever had before. AK actually had to switch over to Apple, and I've, been with Apple for the past two years and with their iPhone 7, plus that they just really. Let me down, and I've kind of lost faith, because they refuse to acknowledge several kinks.
You know in their technology, and they didn't actually do anything to fix it and even when they supposedly did, it didn't do anything at all. This is a huge risk for me, because I never buy anything that hasn't been completely established like down into like Gen 2 worth Gen 3 and this being their first ever smartphone Gen 1 I was a little surprised and scared, but I bit the bullet, and I'm going to tell you guys what I like about it. So when we start talking about this phone there's, one huge thing that you cannot ignore is that this huge TO display right here this Ling looks crispy, sharp and of all things razor says that you can toggle it up to a hundred and twenty Hertz refresh rate. That means in laymen terms that there are a hundred and twenty images that are being refreshed every second. So when you're doing something such as scrolling through your apps or watching a video or playing a video game, there's less motion blur everything, looks much more crispy and optically clear if you're scrolling and do a whole massive amount of scrolling.
There is what I can only be explained as to the normal person has less lag, and we also have to mention that this thing has eight gigs of RAM ?, its Snapdragon 835 processor I know some people have been saying that we should have waited until the next processor came out. But you know we just went with 835, which is completely fine and, like I said, there are eight gigs of ram in here and that's plenty to run all of your applications, you're gaming, all your mobile gaming, while in there. So what I notice within this past week of actually testing and using this phone as far as how much RAM it actually used. It didn't use much for a normal person for someone who just goes on Facebook Instagram checks, their email take some pictures and watch his Netflix. It didn't amount to anything over ? or at most three gigs out of the eight gigs of RAM, but when you do end up playing video games and whatnot, that goes to around six point: five out of eight, which is still fine, but at most when I was playing, let's say: Animal Crossing pocket camp.
Furthermore, it really just went didn't, go anywhere past four, which I'm totally fun with because that's just around 50% of usage, so the operating system that comes on this phone is going to be Android 7.1 right out of the box, and Oreo is slated for first quarter of 2018, and supposedly it's going to be fixing a lot of like kinks and a lot of these extra things, such as, like your notification, poppers, not really coming up and all that stuff. The screen looks amazing. It's made out of Corning Gorilla Glass and all that stuff, like most phones and I, really like this display. Could it be a little brighter? Yes, of course, but that's totally fine for me personally. What I did when I was testing out this phone for the past week? I just ended up, leaving it at 120 Hertz just permanently I, didn't even let it throttle from 60 to 90 or 91 20, depending on applications, because you can do that.
I just kept it at 120. Yes, I knew it was gonna, kill the battery, but we're trying to find out what you know extreme usage would do. This has a four thousand William battery and the reason why I wanted this phone, because it's closer to my 1520 that had a four thousand and Beyond William battery and I just didn't- want to be tethered or worried about battery consumption anymore, because in the past let's say with my iPhone 7 plus I would be stream music, Bluetooth and everything, and it would just start dying so fast, and I didn't want that anymore. So what happened with this I'll tell you guys with a whole day's worth when I finally came down to 12% at the end of day. This is what I did about 4 to 6 hours of gaming, of like extreme gaming, where it actually got hot for this phone, but not burning hot, but I got toasty in there.
Where else to the point where I was kind of worried, and then I also did a combined total of 3 hours of social media and about an hour of emails, you know sending them back and forth, and everything and checking all of them and I also went and took some videos recorded. Videos took some selfies for social media and I also went and watched two episodes of The Real Housewives of Miami, which is no longer available. So anyways Matt I kept Apple Music streaming, the entire time streaming, not playing from pre-existing downloaded stuff like absolutely streaming, and it kept my Bluetooth on I'll. Tell you this for the average user, who does social media not much extreme gaming or anything or not. Much mobile gaming, I would say and still watches, like the occasional episode or two during their lunch break or when they have a chance to squeeze that in during commute time and also likes to listen to music, but doesn't listen to it.
Maybe about as much as I did, which is like 7 hours on average, then I would say that this lasted about a day and a half. So other than that, the battery is great display is great, you know, could be brighter like I said, and what else can we talk about? But these speakers, so when they announce this phone, they said a lot of amazing about the speakers. I watched, so many YouTube videos where people did unboxing. They touched what the speakers and I think we've all come to the consensus that the Razor phone has the best speakers for any smartphone on the market ever made okay, just yeah I mean I know. Some people will just probably want to shoot me after saying that I actually like the way Dolby Atmos changed this and put in the virtual surround sound and I kept most of the things on music, but the Dolby system is actually smart enough to know whether you're watching a movie or, if you're, listening music, but I mostly kept it on music.
Just because I like that pronounced effect. What I like about it is because being someone who really loves music, like to the point where I cannot live without music, cannot live a day without just listening music. It's amazing that I didn't just get goosebumps I, like almost literally cried. When I listened to some of my favorite songs. There were no emotional ballads.
They were all even some happy songs. Seven I, don't know if you guys ever done this, but you haven't found like a perfect movie that you like, and you go ahead and watch it the first time right, and you're just getting the story in you're just trying to absorb as much as possible. So you're not seeing like the undertones you're, not seeing the little technical aspects and though, all those elements around you, you're not seeing those nuances. So when you watch it the second time and the third time, but you let that you let there be time in-between those sessions that you actually get to watch that movie, and you find yourself finding so much more. So many of those nuances that you never caught before, and you're, like oh I, didn't see this Easter egg before that's how it feels like with this phone with music I'm, always finding an Easter egg.
Just when I think that I am done with a song that I've found out everything I need to know every breath every gasp every inhale except like or exhale I found something else. That's crazy! Just have enough of me singing praises about this phone. We do have to talk about its shortcomings. The display can be brighter. It can be much brighter compared to the other phones you're.
Actually using this out in like daytime and all that stuff. You don't even want to make sure you, don't you don't even want to use adaptive brightness because it's just going to make it so freaking dark other than that. We're gonna talk about the most important letdown and that still has hope and I say it still has hope, because I believe it's also due to updates in the software issue and not just a completely a hardware thing, because hardware, wise the cameras, are pretty much on par. Okay, if you're talking about specs and everything. If we were talking about the know the different lenses and all that stuff.
So when you're trying to take a photo you're going to look at the display, it's super crispy and nice and colorful in the live view. But for some reason after you take the photo, whether it's an HDR or not, it's gonna look fuzzy. It has like this weird cloudy filter on there, as if there was a perpetual smudge on your lenses and for me, I'm. The type of person where no matter where I go I always have a microfiber cloth, and I'm always cleaning my lenses before I. Take a selfie before I take a photo for somebody, because you guys have all seen photos that have smudges on them.
They don't look cute, so I'll tell you guys something interesting that happened on the second day out of the seven days, I was testing out the razor phone razor pushed out a new update for the razor camera, and it made things a little snappier. It gave it much more options, and it actually sped up the HDR a little more, and I want to say that things look much more crispy ER, and they look clear, but it's 90% there I'm just missing the 10% okay and as someone who will have to rely on my phone to vlog on the gonna, let stuff it's its kind of you know it's a handicap having to carry my iPhone to do my blogs. The camera can be better, and it will be better because I've seen what the updates can do to it. That's why I say it's more of a software thing and razor actually has committed to pushing out new updates. They released a statement saying that you know after they release the phone.
The next fall in weeks, which is like starting around this point and Beyond they're gonna push out more updates for the phone and for the camera as well to actually make it much better and give it a much better user experience and user interface. Because, right now it's just kind of like you know it's there is, but not really there. When it was right out of the box. It was definitely not there. You know you would think like what in the world I'm.
You know this is supposed to be a flagship phone. Why is it doing this? The image stabilization I? Don't you even think if there is actually any type in here, because when you're taking a video, if you're shooting a video, you just want to make sure you have either gimbals a selfie, stick a monopod anything that that helps stabilizes this actual phone, because it is very sensitive to shutter to any type of movement? So you just want to be very careful when you're actually taking videos on this phone, because I mean it comes up pretty crisp and everything, but you just gotta have stay hands. I have pretty steady hands when I'm actually shooting things I'm used to it, so I'm, okay, but other than that. I just wanted you guys to be aware of how sensitive the camera is when you're actually shooting a video. So, as far as successors actually came with this phone I really do like the fact that everything is braided, the 24 bit deck, that's completely braided, it's extremely sturdy, it's alumina and then your USB-C to USB-C, that's also braided.
So that's something I've come to expect from Racer at this point this cord. What is it like? It's about two feet, two and a half feet. It could be longer enough. Some people will complain, but I would like a much longer cord, because I've unfortunately been spoiled by much longer gorge to, but I guess I can just get like a third party USB-C to USB-C and call it a day, I plugged it into the power adapter over here. This is a huge power adapter.
If you're charging your phone that you use this power adapter. This is, what's gonna, get your phone from like 0 to 100 in no time at all in less than an hour, and that's amazing, because I'm so used to quick charge for my Lenovo x1 yoga- and you know this is gonna- be great. It doesn't have a headphone jack, but that's totally fun. I feel that the trend of phones is where there are already moving away from headphone jacks, because they're there specific advantages you get from not having a headphone jack, but that wasn't really in the case, because this is not even IP, 67 or 68 or in that stuff it is not water resistant because of the grills the front facing grills and the front facing the speakers. You don't want to put this in an extremely humid environment, or you know, expose it to water elements or snow or any of that stuff or rain, because you could potentially damage your phone.
I mean I have an eye from seven-plus. It doesn't have a headphone jack I've been dealing with adapter. So this is nothing new to me and the plus side is that there's a 24 bit deck. You know like adapter right here going from your know: USB c2 out to 3.5 millimeter audio jack I'm, totally fine with that the Razor graphic on the back looks exactly like the one on this phone case, and it looks really nice. The phone is extremely thin, sleek, well-balanced because their phones that are very either very bottom heavy or top-heavy or on all that stuff, where they're just wobbling around when you, and it just doesn't feel good in the hand.
But that's what I like about it. The fingerprint sensor is extremely active and responsive, as you guys can see that and for me, when I set it up, I went and put I've tried to figure out every single situation or possibility of what fingers I would use for my fingerprint sensor, because sometimes I'll hold it in my left hand and I just want to make sure that it opens when I'm doing that or if I'm, using both hands when I'm texting. So you just when you're setting up a fingerprint sensor, you just want to kind of get all those options. You never just want to do like one finger, because what, if that doesn't work, there are a lot of other amazing things that this phone can do, that you will find a new love for mobile gaming, for you know even checking out your Facebook because, it's going to be a totally different experience. It's going to feel so buttery smooth I've been rambling for too long.
I know that especially over the music and audio section with the speakers, but please check this phone out. You know find it somewhere out in the world and form your own opinion. I know, I'm super hyped about it and I know. I will continue to be super hyped about this phone as long as it doesn't, you know, fail me or unless updates don't come through, but I just hope that you guys found this review really helpful and even though it's a little longer than usual. But let me know if you guys have any questions, comments.
Suggestions if you like this video- and you want me to make more videos like this- give me a thumbs up. If you don't just give me a thumbs down, and please leave a comment as to why you hate it, and you know I will do my best to make them better in the future and if you guys have a subscribed, please describe what the subscribe button right there, and you know that would make me so much happier. But yes, definitely thank you guys for watching I'm really excited about this phone. I hope you guys found a lot of helpful things with this review and I will see you guys next time.
