PIXEL 5 UNBOXING and Tour! By Droid Life

What's, going on guys welcome back Kevin here again with droid life, and we've now got the pixel 5 in-house we've already unboxed the pixel 4 a5g. This is the one I'm just going to assume most of you care the most about it's the higher end of the two: it's uh. Well, you know. Google didn't really release a flagship phone this year, but this is their highest and best pixel experience. So I'm assuming you want to see it. Lets uh, let's unbox it here is a pixel 5 unboxing.

All right, then so the story of the pixel 5. Uh well, first, 6.99 for this guy remember the pricing on the other ones, the Pixel 4a is 349. Pixel 4a5g starts at 499. , also a 599 model from Verizon, and then this guy is 6.99 everywhere works on all the US. Carrier comes in this color sorta sage, uh, the child green.

You know you guys get it uh and also just black, so uh here is I mean this is the one we all run right: anyways, lets uh, let's take it out of the box. Uh simple packaging, just like the 4a 5g, so 5g logo, there's the phone, google, google, hashtag team, pixel and again pull tabs that we love so much no need for a knife with uh google products love to see that all right here is uh here is the phone: oh yeah, the green, we're gonna, we're going to like that, all right, let's just let's! Let's leave it in view there we go set that right there. What else is in the box? These are just guides. Probably a quick start guide, never going to open it. Ooh, I can see like a phone image must be quick start.

We do care about that, though sim removal tool. So if you have a sim, this is your new phone. This is the tool used open the tray unless you ENIM it that sort of thing. In the box same deal as the pixel 4 a5g in the US, we don't get earbuds. I know some countries.

I think they mandate that phones come with earbuds, not in the US. So no pixel earbuds in here this is an 18 watt, wired fast charger. You can see their USB c port. So, of course, that means we have an USB c to USB c cable, which google has been throwing in the box for some time now c to c, and then this is your transfer tool and I couldn't get this out on the other phone now I figured out the trick: uh USB a2c, so with your old phone, take the cable plug it in here, swap it over that sort of thing, uh pretty basic stuff. So let's not hesitate.

Let's get right into that! Guy here is uh here it is pixel 5 in sorta sage, green, the child green. All of that uh there's actually a lot to talk about with this exterior uh. But first though we should uh rip this little single piece of plastic off and get that out of the way and power it on to make sure there's a little juice just so you can see the front and the hole punch cut out which it does have their eight megapixel camera up front there. This is a six-inch AMOLED display it's 1080p, but it is 90 hertz, so smooth, refresh um, smoother experience scrolling using apps, although everything should just look a little better on the 4a5g 60hz on the 4a also 60. This matches the 90 hertz of last year's pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

So you do get that it's not 120 hertz like Samsung and OnePlus are doing, but it's 90. It is definitely noticeable over the 60 that your old phone might have that you're swapping to snapdragon 765 on the inside, so same processor as the 4a 5g same as in the lg velvet. Samsung has a couple of phones running it uh OnePlus. Word, I believe, was running that as well. It's kind of the chip, that's the step below the highest end, snapdragon 865, but it shouldn't be a massive downgrade, and it gives you of course, 5g connectivity, and this does work on all the major us carriers.5G LTE. All of that good stuff, uh 8 gig ram in here most ram google's ever put in the phone 128 gig storage, no SD slot.

That is the only option.4 000 William hour battery also believe that's the biggest Google has put in a phone 18 watt fast charging also has wireless charging, and it's weird because well this isn't glass, it's not plastic, so you might be wondering well, how does that work? It is a metal phone aluminum and google drilled a hole through the back and put a coil and all this stuff to make sure it still has wireless charging, and then they coated it with all of this uh. It's like a bio, resin plastic or something, and it feels quite interesting. Furthermore, it's definitely not glass, it doesn't feel metal. But there's like this really soft texture, almost fabric-y, it's its I mean I don't know that I've ever felt a phone that feels like this. What a what an interesting thing there we'll see how that wears over time, that's going to be something to uh to watch.

Uh, fingerprint reader, obviously right there so rear fingerprint, not in the screen, like all those terrible ones everyone uses. So do you have rear there, the squeeze side. Do you remember those from other pixel phones? Those are gone no longer in here um. The camera's set up big deal here, so 12 megapixels, regular shooter. That's that google has put in every phone.

Basically since the pixel originated, then we have a 16 megapixel wide angle lens this time last year. Remember on the pixel 4. We got telephoto lens this time wide angle, so hopefully you're fine with that I'd. Rather, I prefer wide angle versus the telephoto, so I'm actually pretty excited about that, but so dual camera uh, let's see 8 megapixels on the front, mentioned that no Wi-Fi 6 or anything just ac, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 5.0 NFC, of course USB-C on the bottom, which of course, because we showed you the uh, the charger and uh stereo speakers uh. This is probably just one speaker with a channel between the two but speaker here, speaker up top um.

Speaking of up top, there was a headphone jack on the 4a and the 4a5g. There is no headphone jack on this phone, google, whatever reason they're higher end phones, they don't think people want to hardware. In again, it's uh it's made of recycled aluminum with a plastic coating all around it ip68. So the 4a4a5g didn't have that rating. This one does it is uh, it is uh.

It is something let's go back um, I can't really say much else. I think the big thing here is that well, it is a really one-handable device, the size. What's so interesting is we have a six-inch display? This is not a small display, but this phone I mean it fits in one hand easily. This is going to be a really incredible size. I think the big thing here is going to be.

Is the 765 up to par we're? Gonna love the performance there? Does the camera still good or do we need google to improve there? That sort of thing the four thousand William hour battery how's that gonna work how's this texture going to last over time, tough to say, but wow the size of the phone is really cool. Oh, I didn't mention um the tour here, so you do have power button volume rocker on the same size, so the volume rocker looks like it's plastic and maybe made of this same resin sort of stuff. I mean it could be metal under that, and I'm just saying it's the same texture. Then they have this sort of this dark metal power button on the side, which looks very cool by the way. You know, we've seen a lot of white power buttons, even some pinkish power buttons and things like that.

We never had like sort of that really dark color. I think it's dark green, but it almost looks charcoal anyway, uh comparisons, Pixel 4a- I don't have the 5g 485g on me anymore, but this is the 4a, so the 5 485g was quite a bit bigger than this guy um here is the regular pixel 5. Next to it so pixel 5, Pixel 4a, you see there, it's just slightly bigger, and it has just a slightly bigger display. So that makes sense here is the pixel 4 from last year. So this is the smaller pixel 4.

It's actually taller, and that's probably because it has the uh the sole radar up top. But here is the regular. This is seriously the smaller pixel 4. And I can flip it over, and you can sort of get a view of the notch up top there or the big forehead. So that's the small.

I remember this phone felt tiny last year and uh. Finally, here's the 4xl, obviously much larger again has bigger display and that bigger forehead thing up top. So there is your comparison to the 4 XL flip it oversee. So this is the only pixel 5 available one size fits all. Let's hope that it is the right size for everyone.
