OPPO Reno5 5G Review

Hey, what's up guys josh here figure, tech and, as you may have noticed, Oppo is a known name for camera, focused smartphones and recently the company launched its newest addition to the Reno series, the Reno 5 5g, now without further ado, let's dive into our review. Okay. So let's talk about the design. The Oppo Reno 55g achieves a glossy plastic finish with some gradient effect and is coupled with a metal frame. Our unit is in the starry night color, but is also available in moon, knight, black and the stylish aurora blue up front. We get a punch hole on the screen's upper left side, housing its front shooter.

We also get the call speaker here. The phone has a vibrant OLED screen with slim bezels and a slightly thicker chin. Now for buttons and ports. We have the power, slash lock button on the right, while on the left, we have the volume buttons and the dual sim card tray now they're made out of plastic, but they're, firm and click up top is the secondary microphone. While at the bottom, you can find the 3.5 millimeter audio jack primary microphone, an USB type-c port and loudspeaker flipping it on its back, it looks almost the same as the Oppo Reno 4, especially with the camera replacement. So far, the Reno 5 5g's design has no huge difference from its predecessor.

We still like the color options, especially the aurora blue, which is unique and more stylish in the hands. It feels functional lightweight and has a good grip moving to its display, the reno5g sports, a 6.43 inch with full HD plus resolution and a pixel density of 410 pixels per inch. It has a crisp and vibrant display, plus it's also equipped with a 90 hertz refresh rate screen, so you can enjoy smooth animations and transitions. Its brightness level is decent too, as you can still see the screen well at max brightness under direct sunlight. As for audio quality, the single downward firing speaker is loud enough to fill a room.

However, you still only have one speaker, so if your finger happens to block the other corner more often, we recommend you use earphones. As for software, it runs on android 11 out of the box, with color OS 11.1 skinned on top there's still some bloatware, but you can opt to uninstall it whenever you want. You can also personalize the icons, hide app names, app animation, speed and on-screen buttons for navigation there's. Also, an always-on display, color scheme and dark mode to customize the phone out of the 128 gigs of storage. We get a usable, 112 gigabytes out of the box for performance powering the Oppo Reno 5 5g is a Qualcomm snapdragon 765g outscore CPU paired with an arena 620, GPU, 8-12, gigabytes of ram and 128 or 256 gigabytes of storage.

When it comes to day-to-day tasks like browsing, the web and navigating around social media, it's pretty smooth all throughout. We tried playing graphically intensive games such as asphalt, 9 and gentian impact, and while gaming we didn't encounter hiccups while using the highest settings, but do take note that the phone does heat up after some time. But it's not that bothersome for biometrics and security. You can unlock the phone through facial recognition and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Both methods work pretty quickly.

As for benchmark scores check out the scores right now, the Oppo Reno 5 comes with connectivity features such as NFC 4g, LTE, 5g, Bluetooth, 5.1, an USB type-c port and a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. For all you wired lovers out there, the device gets a 4 300 William hour capacity battery with support for superfood 2.0 65 watts fast charging. We ran it through PC Mark's battery test, and we got a total of 14 hours and 15 minutes. Meanwhile, in our standard video loop test, which entails the phone being at 50, brightness 50 volume, airplane mode turned on and with headphones plugged in the device, lasted a longer 13 hours and 45 minutes. This device can last at least a day if you're, not a heavy user, and it takes more than an hour to charge this up with the super UK 2.0 65 watt included charger now for cameras. The Reno 55g sports, a quad camera setup consisting of a 64 megapixel main an 8 megapixel ultra-wide, a 2 megapixel macro and a 2 megapixel depth sensor.

Meanwhile, for selfies you get a 32 megapixel shooter in proper lighting conditions. Images produce sharp details with accurate color reproduction for portrait mode background. Separation is good. It blurs out the background very well while preserving the details at the front for macro shots. It's quite impressive, as details are sharp and colors are still accurate.

On the other hand, low light shots are good, but note that you'll need a tripod or a super steady hand when you use the night mode. Details are not that sharp, but it is present. Some shots also do tend to look a little hazy depending on the lighting as well. When it comes to selfies, it captures great images and produces accurate, color reproduction. Turning the AI beauty mode on the skin looks pretty natural when it's at its recommended setting.

As for videos, you can shoot up to 4k at 30 frames per second quality is decent and would suffice if you want to make vlogs or cinematic shorts. It also comes with ultra steady mode. If you wish for a more stabilized video for slo-mo, it can shoot up to 1080p and is quite impressive, as details are present and lastly, the reno5g also introduces the dual view: video, which can simultaneously be used in both the front and rear cameras, providing two perspectives within the same frame and videos. Just imagine a picture in picture scenario now for the price of 23 pesos. It's not that bad as the Reno 555g is packed with some impressive specs, and we can say that it can be a hot pick on its excellent camera performance and, let's not forget that there's also support for a 90hz high refresh rate and a good battery life as well.

Yes, there are many good devices in the market around this price range, but the Reno 5 5g is undoubtedly not one to be missed out on and that's it for this review.
