Good day, ladies and gents Connor here from cw tech reviews back with another video and today, we've been lucky enough to get our hands on the Oppo a74 5g beauty, mate. So without further ado hit the like button and the subscribe button, and let's get stuck into the video let's go here. It is folks to a 74 5g one of OPPO's mid-range devices. That's been sent out to be reviewed as usual. I'm pretty impressed with what I see here and some of the key specs that we're going to have a look at now are snapdragon 480 5g, which is eight nanometers and also comes with an Aldrin 619, and it is an outscore device running six gigs of ram and a minimum 128 gigabytes of storage, and you're, also rocking in this very thin 8.3 millimeter device, a 5 000 William hour battery. So I do ask myself: why is the Samsung s21 ultra as thick as a freaking brick with a 5 000 William hour battery? But you also get in the Oppo a74 499 package? You get a case, a charging, brick a charging cable and a pair of headphones you're.
Also, looking at a 48 megapixel quad camera, so the main sensor is 48 megapixels. Then you have your ultra-wide, which is 8 megapixels. Then you have your macro, which is 2 megapixels, and then you have your depth sensor, which is 2 megapixels as well front facing camera, is 16 megapixels in both front and rear, can shoot 1080p 30 frames per second bit of a letdown on the video front, but more on that soon, like I said, it's very thin at just over eight millimeters thick and has a plastic back and glass on the front, and I really do like the look feel and design of the Oppo a74 5g. It is really comfortable to hold. Don't forget this is a 6.5 inch display, yet I can comfortably hold it. I can comfortably move my fingers and hand around the device without worrying about dropping it.
It is definitely not heavy when you compare it to others, and it is really nicely well-made nice soft edges on it too. So no sharp touches no unconformability and the only thing that actually could do a little better is the machining around the camera. Is a little sharp if you wear is you're using a case it doesn't matter, you can't feel it, but if you're not using a case, you can tell that the camera bump is a little sharper than the rest of the device, but it's nothing big, nothing big! All in all. It's really well-made nice and comfortable. It's a good display.
I like it now it is an IPS lcd that comes in at 480, nits, so pretty bright, and I have had no problems looking at it in the bright sunlight or indoors, or anything like that. I'm happy with the display and its brightness the LCD. Well, I don't really think they're too bad at all, especially for that price point, and it comes in at 90 hertz, better than 60, not quite 120, but I wouldn't expect 120 hertz at this price point also comes in Bluetooth 5.1 for those of you who love your Bluetooth headphones, and it also has a headphone jack. Thank you Oppo for giving us a headphone jack. We all want them just keep them in there for those of us that still plug in our headphones software and performance is my next area to discuss, and I am pleasantly surprised- let's start with the software, so we're actually running android 11 here, which is a nice surprise to get it out of the box and hopefully, when android 12 drops we'll see it here on the Oppo a74 now performance with that software and hardware combined.
What do you get? You get a pretty solid experience now for me using the phone day-to-day camera emails, SMS social media, video that sort of thing I don't really have any problems with it. It could cope with every task that I threw at it and coped well. I didn't really do too much multitasking on it. I mean a couple of times. Furthermore, I might be copying from one app to another and going back and forth now I did notice on the android 11 with Oppo that the Google feed is now missing.
You can't swipe left to get to it or swipe right, whichever one it is, but the software is pretty good, pretty solid. I didn't have any bugs that I was completely frustrated with actually no hiccups at all. I think it was a good, solid experience and for gaming now most of the games these days, optimize for the chipsets you've got in them and for what your phone can handle, and that was the case with the Oppo a74. So I was playing asphalt, 9 PUBG bit of Leo's fortune. You know the usual games that I play when I'm reviewing a phone, no hiccups whatsoever.
I was adjusting the graphics settings to suit the games as well, and it was a really enjoyable experience. So, if you're, a gamer you're not going to have any problems here and that 90 hertz helps you along just nicely same for media content, I think you're going to be pretty happy with the display it was giving off good colors. To me, I mean I didn't have any issue. I wasn't looking at it watching YouTube or Netflix thinking wow. This looks disgusting now talking about all that performance leads me into battery life and I must say that you definitely get two days battery life out of the Xperia a74 5g, like I think, I'm a pretty heavy user in terms of churning through a lot of stuff on my phone.
I might not stare at the screen for nine hours playing one game or just watching media for nine hours. I think phones will handle that pretty well, but I do go through a lot of apps, and I'm constantly doing different things, whether it's taking photos or videos or writing emails or sending text messages. Furthermore, I'm constantly changing through lots of tasks on my phone, and I was getting a solid two days use out of the a74 and I think most people will. Some of you might even stretch it to three days. So there is no sweat, no problems with the battery life, 5 000 William hour battery life on the Oppo a74 5g.
Now the camera isn't its biggest selling feature, but it can still perform in the right circumstances, and some features are AI, beautification mode, ultra clear, 108, megapixel mode. You also do get pro mode in there as well. So that's pretty nifty, and I think it produces some pretty good images. For me, they were clear, and they were sharp, not too overly saturated most of the time, but it does have that scene AI, where it can identify what scene it is and optimize best for that, and I think for the most part it did that quite well. It actually showed some balance with the saturation and the shutter was pretty fast and responsive low light photography, 499 dollars, you get what you pay for when it comes to low light.
Most phones. These days can do a pretty good image in daylight and when it comes to low light, you get some okay photos here. Definitely some need for improvement. Maybe choose a higher end Oppo device. If you want some better camera quality here and another area where I did feel a little disappointed, was the video quality 1080p 30 frames per second, that's your only option unless you drop to 720p, but then again you still get 30 frames per second, it's good enough for your family videos and your social media posts and all that sort of jazz.
But if you want to do anything other than look at your videos on your phone, then you probably will be a little disappointed, but it holds its own in that price range. I think around that 499 you've got some competitors in the market that are going to struggle to do as well or probably do me the same standard now it is called the Oppo a74 5g. Now I'm going to tell you the 5g is debatable and that's because the carriers are shared at delivering on their promise. So you can't really bear Oppo on that they've. Given us the option to have a 5g sim card in it.
Now it's up to the carriers to deliver us 5g and where I am in my house, I have 4g only perfect, solid 4g about 5ks down the road I get 5g and when it connects to the 5g I get a good connection. I get fast download speeds, I get fast upload speeds, but it's awesome that Oppo included it in the box and if you do go somewhere with lots of 5g coverage, Oppo a74 has you come, so I think overall for 499 bucks. I think it's even already on special, but for 499 or less Aussie dollars. You can get a really solid mid-ranger here for a perfect price. Great performance, great battery life, great display really easy to hold nice and comfortable a little of a let-down on the video but overall you're getting a solid device and I think you'll be happy with it.
Now. Don't forget everyone, while you're watching this video. If you think this is the phone for me, use my links down below you'll be helping me out. That's it, thank you for watching, and I will catch you in the next video check. It.
