Hi welcome to this channel. My name is Sam, and today we are going to compare OnePlus 9 pro with Samsung's galaxy s21 ultra. We are comparing both phones in terms of display performance, camera design and battery, so stay tuned and find out which phone is, in our opinion, the better phone. If you'd like to see more videos like this feel free to subscribe and hit the notification bell, let's start straight away with our review. Let the facts be display. The Samsung Galaxy s20 ultra has a 6.8 inch display with a 1440p resolution. It is fitted with an audit screen which does a fantastic job.
The s21 ultra measures, 17.3 centimeter diagonally, with a pixel density of 515 PPI. The display has an impressive 120hz refresh rate with a quad HD resolution, and it is also downgrading the raid when it's not in used to reduce power consumption, a very good-looking display with solid specs, but can it compete with OnePlus screen? Let's see the OnePlus 9 pro features a 6.7 inch display with a 1440p resolution. It uses an AMOLED screen with an adaptable, 120hz, refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1 300 nits. The phone therefore measures roughly 17 centimeters diagonally and has a pixel density of 525 PPI. Both phones feature excellent displays with quad HD resolution and 120hz adaptive refresh rate, while the OnePlus offers a bit higher pixel density, the galaxy is a little larger and also brighter.
Additionally, it features the way more doable, corning gorilla, glass vectors compared to only gorilla glass 5 on the 9 pro, which is why the galaxy is able to score the win here, even though it was a close race performance. The 9 pro is available in two versions: one with 8 gigabyte ram and 128 gigabyte storage capacity, and one with 12 gigabyte ram and a memory of 256 gigabytes. Both versions use the Qualcomm snapdragon 888 chipsets, the new snapdragon, combined with in this case 12 gigabytes, ram fair enough. What has the galaxy got to offer since we are in Europe? This Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra model uses a Samsung Enos 2100 chips with the new 5 nanometer process technology. There are different versions with different storage capacities, available, a 128 gigabyte and a 256 gigabyte, with 12 gigabyte ram and a version with 512 gigabytes, with 16 gigabytes of ram, which is in use in this comparison.
The storage capacity can, unfortunately, not be expanded anymore, so the latest snapdragon 888 versus Samsung's Enos 2100 in-house produced chips, even though the galaxy has a little more power because we got the 16 gigabyte version. I am pretty sure that I already know how this will end, but enough of the talking, let's take them into the entity, benchmark and geek bench 5 test and find out which one is stronger. The tests are divided into three phrases: a performance test of the ram, a test of how the device is handling two-dimensional graphics and an endurance test of how the device is handling 3d, graphics. The second test is from geek bench. This app will measure the performance of our smartphones in terms of CPU and GPU yeah.
This is exactly what I imagined. Samsung's in-house produced ship stood absolutely no chance against the brand-new snapdragon 888. Every single test category went in favor of the OnePlus and, of course the point also goes in the same direction: camera the Samsung Galaxy s2 ultra has four main cameras, an ultra rate with 12 megapixels, a wide angle with 108 megapixels and two telephoto cameras with 10 megapixels. The front camera's resolution is 40 megapixels, the Samsung Galaxy s2 on ultra records, 8k videos at a maximum of 24 frames per second, and of course it has image stabilization for video, to 108 megapixels is a pretty big number for the main lens. It will be interesting to see how big its impact is in the end.
But first, let's take a look at the OnePlus. The OnePlus 9 pro features a quad rear camera system. It consists of a 48 megapixel, wide angle, a 15 megapixel ultra-right angle, an 8 megapixel telephoto and a 2 megapixel monochrome camera its front. Camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels, the 9 pro records, 8k videos at a maximum of 30 frames per second and 4k videos at a maximum of an incredible 120 frames per second. A special feature is the color calibration system by famous camera manufacturer Hasselblad.
By the way we are still doing our giveaway to take part click on the link in the description. Both phones have good camera systems but which one is actually the better system. Let's take it to our camera test and, let's find out which one does a better job. So, as always, let's start the camera comparison with the pictures taken in daylight conditions at first. The pictures don't seem to be different.
Besides that the plant appears a bit sharper on the OnePlus when zooming into the picture, you can see that we weren't fooled by the first impressions, because the phone's main difference is the amount of sharpness displayed. The OnePlus certainly has an advantage here, as the immense sharpening also lets the smaller details appear more clearly, but the downside is the overall quality suffers, as a lot of grain is created. Moving on to the nighttime conditions, the OnePlus appears a lot brighter, but nothing notable besides that until we zoom in and see well, not much while the galaxy is way too dark. The 9 pro creates just pure mesh. The crane is just so overwhelming that there are hardly any details noticeable in terms of the front camera.
There is no real difference, quality wise, but the colors on the galaxy appear a lot more natural and favorable for the face. Okay, so thoughts are good. Now, let's switch from photo feature to the video feature to find out which of these two phones takes better videos. What you see in here is the quality of Samsung Galaxy's s20 ultra's, video recording. We set it to the highest possible quality.
Let's see what the competitor sounds and looks like what you can see, and here is the quality of OnePlus 9 pros video recording. We set it to the highest possible quality. Let's see what the competitor sounds and looks like in terms of the sound quality. The galaxy is a bit quieter than the OnePlus, which sounds deeper and also more accurate. Both phones are capable of 8k video recording, but we had to record in 4k on Samsung's site, since 8k would have looked too cropped in while the OnePlus is very sharp and detailed.
It is totally over saturated which creates terrible colors. The galaxy, on the other hand, is pretty good in terms of color rendering, but it fails to deliver in the sharpness and detail section, let's crop in a bit in post, to see how that looks like. If you take away the obvious color rendering problems on 9 pro side, its quality is actually perfect. The sampler, on the other hand, is very pixelated. This is even more noticeable and 10 times zoomed in where there is hardly any detail on the galaxy, while the results on the OnePlus are still pretty decent.
When it comes to slow motion, videos both are capable of 240 frames per second and full HD, but the galaxy is able to produce 960 frames per second at 720p, where the OnePlus is only capable of 480 frames per second well, as you saw both have their pros and cons. The galaxy has advantages in terms of nighttime photography and the front camera, while the OnePlus does better in terms of daylight photography and video recording. Therefore, this is a clear draw and both get a point design. The OnePlus 9 pro features a semi, matte, glass back side and a shiny, aluminum frame. It is available in three different color variants morning: mist stellar black and the one that we tested- pine green.
The quad rear camera bump is situated in the upper left corner on the back of the phone and stands out from the minimalistic design of the rest of the backside. The smartphone weighs 197 gram. It has an USB-C connector at the bottom and of course it got an ip68 rating and is therefore dust and water resistant. It has an optical fingerprint sensor, tucked into the display and also features face recognition technology to unlock the phone. We really like the color of the OnePlus and its evolution into a more mature form compared to its predecessor.
Next up the galaxy, the galaxy s20 ultra comes across very sophisticated thanks to its matte finish. The quad camera system is, as usual, in the upper left corner on the back of the phone, but the bump seems like it is more connected to the front of the phone. It looks like as if the frame is wrapped around the upper left corner of the back. The bump itself really sticks out of the phone again, which makes that corner really thick. The smartphone weighs 227 gram.
It is roughly 16.5 centimeter long 7.56, centimeter wide and 0.89 centimeter deep. It has an USB connector and thanks to an ip68 rating, it is also water and dust resistant. The s20 uses face recognition, technology and a fingerprint scanner which is built into the screen to unlock the phone Samsung improved the fingerprint scanner by making it 1.77 times bigger and two times faster. This is the first time in a while that we have to talk about the front design of the phones, because this time there's actually a difference, even though it's a small one, the front camera notch of the s21 ultra is not in the left corner like on every other modern smartphone screen. That's it though, and we leave it to you to decide what you like more because this is purely a matter of taste.
So, let's move on to the more interesting part. The backside like on most new phones, the camera bump on both devices, is placed in the upper left corner. That's it for the similarity, though, while the bump of the OnePlus is rather understated and blends in with the general minimalistic design. The bump on the galaxy is freaking huge and makes the phone wobble a lot when placed on a flat surface. Besides that both phones look very valuable and also feel good when holding the galaxy.
Has a nice rainbow shine metal look finish while the 9 pro features a matte glass finish. In this case we prefer the pine green color scheme of the OnePlus and in general we liked its design more. But the OnePlus sadly has a big downside. It failed our simple test to prove the ip68 rating, and this is really disappointing. Water got into the main lens and since then the back camera is not usable anymore.
This is unacceptable and a huge minus as sad as it is. We have no choice but to give the point to the galaxy battery the OnePlus 9 pro when fully charged has 4 500 William hours, the samurai galaxy s21 ultra has 5 000 William hours in terms of fast charging. The 9 pro offers 65 watt and the galaxy has 25 watts. The Samsung features 15 watt wireless charging, while the OnePlus offers 50 watt, both phones feature reverse wireless charging. The galaxy has a way bigger battery and the 9 pro the better charging capabilities.
Who will come out on top in this category? As expected, the galaxy with its larger battery was able to outlast the OnePlus quite a bit. In the end, it was actually more than 70 minutes, which can be very helpful in certain situations where you don't have a charge at hand. But if you do, you will be impressed by how fast the OnePlus is able to charge up your battery.33 minutes to 100 is actually pretty amazing, but in our opinion, endurance is still the key and therefore the point goes to the galaxy s21 ultra conclusion so which form performed better overall and takes home the win. Let's go back once more through all the categories and collect the points and find out. The first category was a very close one, but in the end it was a galaxy that was able to get the upper hand and scored the point in terms of performance.
Things were very different as the OnePlus, together with a superior chip, outperformed the galaxy by a lot and took home the point in the third category. We compared the camera system of the two and came to the conclusion that both of the points concerning design, the OnePlus actually had the more convincing arguments, but the failed ip68 rating test was just too much, and so the point went to the Samsung in the fifth and final category. It was once more the galaxy s21 ultra that came out on top cause. It was able to last a lot longer than its competitor. This leads to a final result of 4 to 2 points in favor of the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra, which means that it is the deserved winner of this comparison.
