MVT delivers for customers and drivers with in-cab tablets By Samsung Business USA
My name is mike Kelly: I'm the CIO of Mercia valley transportation. The company started back in the 1980s with just three trucks and has grown to over 1600 trucks, with 2 000 plus drivers and over 5000 trailers. Technology is really important in the supply chain nowadays, because everybody wants to know where their product is where their package is. The Samsung platform science solution is providing us with an infrastructure that allows us to enhance the driver experience. It's also making it very easy for us to innovate and provide information for our customers real time. Technology is important to the driver experience by making their lives easier and by leveraging the sensors and the ability of that technology to automate the work that we've been asking drivers to do.
For years, the s pen has been a useful addition, because it helps drivers who have big fingers be able to do the data entry, and we plan to use it for things in the future. Like signature capture, when we started on this quest to look at different providers, we interviewed multiple companies, but everything out in the market was either a consumer grade tablet and or their understanding of the transportation industry was very limited. We found in Samsung and platform science partners who understood the transportation industry get where drivers get to be drivers, not data entry specialists. This technology allows us to automate a lot more of the work and just provides a much better, smoother experience for the driver as they're headed down the road you.
