Another day, another Rivero's test today we're gonna, be doing a road test on the LG. G8 think you I, don't care, got better railroad tests on this channel, so I'm going to try to use this phone as I normally would, throughout my entire day we're gonna check on the battery sometimes and see how that's doing, but also going to take photos with it, and some of its competitors put them up on the screen. So you guys can check that out as well. One interesting twist about this. Video, though, is that this phone basically most places that you buy it. It turns out, comes for free with this accessory.
It is an extra screen and when you put them together, it gives you a dual screen phone, which I'm sure you've probably seen stories about now because it comes essentially for free with it and the phone itself is $700. Furthermore, it makes this quite an interesting, combo, and I'm going to put these together and use the phone with the screen on for the entire day before we get started, though, as always any coffee check now, real quick I want to talk about this phone and in particularly the dual screen part of it. That seems to be what everybody is talking. So, as I've already showed you it's a case, there is a screen that is on the inside. That is the same specs.
Actually as the original screen, which is nice, and then we have this tiny screen on the outside. That is only used for the date. The time and notifications, essentially now that inside screen can be controlled by a small floating button. That's on the screen, if you tap on that, you can then swap whatever's on one screen onto the other, and vice versa, put it to sleep, turn it off, etc. Now the way that it works, unlike a folding phone, where, in my mind, is kind of like an ultra-wide monitor where everything kind of fits on there at once.
This is more like having dual monitors that separate screen acts almost literally as a other monitor for Android apps, don't really spread across them, so you basically have to choose to use two apps at once, one on one side and one on the other, except the chrome app which can actually extend it yourself across the two screens. Even though there's a gap in the middle and then LG's own gallery, app can actually be used in an extended view, but it's only those two apps right now with more coming soon quote-unquote. You can also go into settings and whenever you open this screen automatically have it launch one app in particular, for me: I've been using that kind of for, like my newsfeed in Google now or Google, something it has a new name. Now, it's not Google. Now, whatever you get, what I mean, and so that's kind of just how I've been using it.
Okay, let's check another battery as we do. It is 12:30 1:00 p. m. I took it off at about 8 o'clock in the morning, and we are at 82% good one. Okay, stop real quick that, like a late lunch, or I mean it's a really early dinner I'm also, probably going to get eggs.
It's all confusing, either way, let's check it on the battery. It is 4:30 p. m. and we are at 52% all right just had dinner with David ml here from Android Authority, you don't know, and now we're going to go to our studio, which I've kind of mentioned before me. Him hi mate from POC and now MJ from gadget match and Michael Fisher mister mobile all got a studio together, and it's a couple blocks away.
So we're going to go check that out and then head to your new apartment. I check that out today. Yeah, it's exciting, frightening! Well, seven minutes: okay, change of plans. We ended up actually going to David's apartment and meeting Fisher there they're moving in together, it's exciting, but now we're at the studio kind of showing that to David and while we're here, we might as well check it on the battery. So it is now 11 26 p.
m. and we are at 15% okay and call it a night check on the battery. It is 12:09 in the morning, and it is at 11% and here's my screen on time and all of my usage and all that fun stuff. So you can check that out, and it's its not great. It's not horrible either also keep in mind that it was powering two identical screens, the entire time now so honesty, I think this would be a bit more useful, really, and I would want to use the dual screens more if there were more apps that utilize, the full screen capability that can go all the way across and if this bezel was smaller and between it does remind me of another device that was recently launched or recently announced, and that's the new Microsoft Surface Duo.
Now, there's a reason, though, that Microsoft announced it, and it's not coming out until the next holiday season. Is it not this year but December 2020, and that's because they wanted to drum up a lot of excitement about it and get developers on board within Android to do this exact thing where they can make their apps all work and expand across the screens and decide what sits on one, and what's it together, what happens when you rotate and how to spread them across the screens? All that fun stuff, that's gonna, take some time and that just it just doesn't happen here. For that exact reason now, I do, though the other part of me does commend LG for even trying this, because you know I mean people I think forget that LG does pioneer a lot of stuff. They don't necessarily always get the credit for it. Like wide-angle cameras, everybody's talking about right now, yeah g5, the LG g5, was the first phone to introduce that years ago.
Nobody talks about that. Another thing I'd like to commend them for, though, on this device, is that I think they're, finally being more aggressive with their pricing, as they probably should have been for a while now $7.00 for this with the dual screen is a good deal for sure and as much as I found myself, preferring to actually use the phone without the extra screen there were times that I did want to use it, and it is free with the device. So it's cool to like bring along to use in those moments. When I would like the extra screen sort of again like how there are times you want to use your laptop and then times you want to dock it and have some extra screen real estate with dual monitors. There guys real more test, LG, GE X and the dual screen accessory well I: don't you guys think about this phone about this video? Any improvements I can make in the next one try to focus more on the phone in this one, because you guys told me to do so.
So let me know what else you think in the comments appreciate your feedback. As always, otherwise feelings video, please sense of it or share it. It's greatly appreciated also check out the rest of my channel. If you like to see there, please think the Bell Nexus or subscribe, and you'll be notified when I do new videos. Also, I'm going to leave a link here to all the real world tests.
