This video is about the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 pro one of the most interesting laptops that will be released during 2021, I'm w2best, and I make in-depth gear reviews and tutorials, and if you like this video after watching it, it would be super nice. If you want to put a like on video, if you want to communicate with me, you can do so either in the comment section below where I'm usually very active or on Instagram, where I'm also at w2best last year, I spent a lot of time using and testing the IdeaPad 5, and it was one of the laptops in a budget category that I could really recommend. Then at CES Lenovo launched the IdeaPad 5 pro, which will come in both a 14-inch version and a 16-inch version. This, I think, might be one of the most interesting laptop releases during 2021 for a few different reasons. Recently, they also came up as product listings on one of the big Scandinavian computer retailers, which give a bit of insight of what specification and what price levels we can expect to see in the IdeaPad 5 pro. But let's first have a quick look at Lenovo's product page to see what makes this laptop fascinating.
As I previously mentioned, the IdeaPad 5 pro is available both in a 14 inch and a 16-inch configuration. It is also available in an intel version, as well as in an AMD version. As you can see here, this guy comes with a 5000 h series processor. This is putting it head to head with the Lenovo yoga slim 7 pro, which should also be released during 2021 with a 5000 h series CPU. This guy, though, has a 16 inch, quad HD screen 350 nits brightness, and you can get it with NVIDIA discrete graphics.
This will allow for some better gaming experiences and maybe some better photo and video editing as well. If we move down a little more, we see here that it features actually a 350 nit 2.5 k, quad HD display- and this is a 16 by 10 aspect ratio display, which I think is way more interesting than 16 by 9. At this point and 16 by 10, together with that 2.5 k is really a good combo. I think this could be actually one of the better screens that you could get in a laptop when moving down to see some performance stats. We get the 16 inch, and we get the AMD Ryzen 7, 16 gigabytes, ddr4 memory.
It would be a little nicer if they already said it was lpddr4x so far. It says that it's ddr4 in there and then that you can get it with NVIDIA, discrete graphics. You have the infrared camera with facial recognition, so there's no privacy lock from what it seems in this camera, like the regular IdeaPad 5. Had you can charge it quickly with 15 minute charge should give three hours of battery life and then long battery life in general? If we look at the actual spec sheet here, it says that this guy comes with a dozen 7 5800h, that it comes with a quad HD 120 hertz panel that has 100 RGB. This is fascinating.
In my opinion, it is both quad HD 120 hertz, and it is 100 RGB, one of the best combos in a panel that I can find on the market right now. The port selection is also quite interesting here. You have two regular USB ports. You have an USB c port with power delivery and display port. Furthermore, you have a HDMI, although not a 2.0, which is a bit of a strange choice. Then you have a SD card reader, which is a full size, SD card reader, and you have a headphone microphone, combo jack.
Then you have Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5, which is also perfect to see, but the starting weight is around 2 kilograms. As it's stated here, this is a little heavier than what I would be used to in, for example, a 15-inch laptop like say, MSI, prestige 15, that is 1.6 kilograms. Then it also stays here that it comes with a 135 watt, ac adapter. This calls for the fact that it's not an USB adapter included, and if we scroll down here, we can also see that this port here is to be used for ac charging. Well, you can probably use this USB port as well, but the fact that it comes with only one USB port.
I find a little annoying because it makes it a bit less versatile than if there would be an extra USB port for charging here. If we go to this store that I was mentioning before pro shop. This is one of the big Scandinavian stores, and they're actually available even in Germany and Austria. Then you can see here if we search for IdeaPad 5 pro that they have listed two different versions, but they can't say when they are going to be able to deliver them. If we look at the first version here, the cheaper one, this is listed at about 950 euros, including the Swedish sales tax of 25, and this guy is listed with a dozen 5 5600 h, 16 gigabytes of ram 512 gigabyte SSD, strangely enough with a full HD panel that is 1920 by 1080, so not even a 16 by 10 resolution there and then states Wi-Fi six as well.
If we then go to the more expensive model here, it gets fascinating here. It only states that it's 16 gigabytes of ram 512 gigabytes, SSD a GTX 1650, so it's actually not a MX, but a GTX 1650. They specify here- and this one comes in at 1200 euros, which I think is a really fair price for a specification like this. It really points me in the direction that Lenovo will keep these laptops at a very decent price level, which I really hope will happen because I have seen now in the last generation, for example, MSI bump the prices of their laptops quite a bit ASUS doing the same thing, with a new zen book duo, for example, making it a lot more expensive, at least here in Europe, compared to the last generation. If we move down to the specification here, though, the CPU is stated at 4.4 gigahertz and the dozen 7 5800 h is stated at a boost, clock, speed of 4.4 gigahertz. So this should be the dozen 7 model.
The dozen 7 model, together with a GTX 1650 at the price point of about 1200 euros, is a really solid deal. I really hope that there won't be as many delays on the IdeaPad 5 pro as there has been on the yoga slim 7 pro. Here we have the 14-inch version, and this is also the AMD version of IdeaPad 5 pro. So, let's just scroll down specifications right away and see what we have here. This guy comes also with AMD Ryzen, 7, 5800 h.
It also is equipped with a quad HD panel, either at 2.2 k or at 2.8 k, and the 2.8 k is rated at 400 nits of brightness and 100 s RGB. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available with that 120 hertz panel that the 16-inch version was equipped with. Then it states 13 hours of video playback up to a one, terabyte SSD and up to a GeForce mx450 graphics card. So here we have no GTX card. This is only the MX card.
If we check out the port selection here, we can see that in this case it comes with two USB ports, one HDMI port, then one headphone microphone, combo jack, two USB a port and that full full-size SD card reader. This is a very good output and input setup for a 14-inch laptop, which I think makes it a very nice competitor to the Lenovo yoga slim 7 pro that only comes with two USB ports and one USB a port. I haven't been able to find any more thorough specifications and listings of the 14-inch version, but I still think that this laptop as a whole, both in the 14-inch version and in the 16-inch version, is fascinating. If this guy gets released now, like let's say before summer in 2021, I will make sure to pick one of these guys up and then test it thoroughly during the rest of the year. I think it can stand very strong against the Lenovo yoga, slim 7 pro and maybe even be a more interesting laptop than the yoga version.
I'm w2best I make in-depth gear reviews and tutorials, and I will see you in the next video have a nice day. Bye.
