Well, it's been interesting. Over the past couple years, we've been seeing the advent of the folding LCD screens on smartphones and, in my opinion this is going to be the next evolution in smartphone form factor. I think it's still going to take a couple of years for that to trickle down into a more affordable price range. This is one that I've had a chance to actually try out for the past uh week or so it's the latest from Samsung. It's your Samsung, galaxy, z or zed, depending on where you live, uh flip 5g phone. So this is the second incarnation of this particular device.
It's got a faster processor, and it also has the 5g capability as well. I have to say out of all the folding screen devices that I've tried so far. This is by far the best version of anything out there. When you fold it up it's its it's a solid fold. It doesn't feel Jacky or anything when you fold it goes down into a really nice compact size and carrying around this in my pocket is much nicer than having kind of the larger traditional form factor.
So I found this a lot easier to uh to carry the folding screen is interesting. You know people are asking. Can you see the crease well yeah, if you're really looking for it, but in day to day when you know you're surfing websites and things like that? It just kind of blurs into the background, so I don't really notice it as much anymore. I guess the downside for me with these first generation of uh folding uh screen smartphones is that they don't have the super high-end cameras that some other flagship phones would have like the uh. The new note 20s.
That being said, the cameras are still pretty decent uh on here. Another thing I like about this particular one is that it's got the little notification screen here as well. So if you've got any text messages coming in Facebook messages, you can actually see here right now. I've got the time on. I can actually scroll uh through to the actual notification center.
So it's kind of handy. I don't have to flip the thing open. If I don't uh need to. I guess you know the questions for me. How durable is this? You know.
Obviously they test this they've got the folding machines that fold these things like thousands of times, but out of all of them again, I have to say this one seems the most solid as far as the hinge assembly looking at the screen, there's actually kind of a film screen put on top of here. Absolutely you don't want to be an idiot and try to peel that off. That was a problem with some of the first generation Samsung Galaxy fold, smartphones that they uh they had, but you wouldn't even want to try to peel it off, because it's kind of integrated so nicely into the whole design of it. I have to say I love the form factor. I think when the price point comes down, it's definitely something that I would consider uh purchasing for those people that have the 2000 bucks and want the latest bleeding edge technology.
It's definitely something to have a look at durability wise. As far as the finish, this has got the new uh mystic bronze uh finish that a lot of people are loving with the new Samsung phones. Time will tell at how easily this scratches, obviously it's kind of harder to get cases for these folding devices and do you want the cases because I mean the reason you bought. This is because you kind of want to show it off the one issue I have in my pocket. You know how much lint will get into that tiny crease in there if I'm carrying keys or coins or anything else that could be a problem.
They're also saying don't put anything that has issues with magnets like credit cards and things like that. I love this thing. I'm going to try to keep this as long as I can before they pry it. Out of my hands and again, I think the next two years, we're gonna, see a lot more of the smartphone manufacturers coming out with these folding screens, but the Samsung Galaxy, flip z or zed 5g. It's a winner.
