iPhone XS Max Camera Review | Photographer's Perspective W/ Sam Elkins

All right focused all right. What does that everybody today? It's all about the iPhone 10s max. We are gonna, give you a complete photography review of this phone, so they won't be a comparison, but we're gonna drive to LA and meet up with a good friend of ours, Sam Elkins who's, a professional photographer and yeah. We're going to put this bad boy at the test. Recording alright so made it to LA and yeah. If you know if you're new to the moment, channel welcome thanks for being here, but if you've been here and even falling along thanks to all the kind words guys, the goodbye Nile's videos was definitely clickbait, and I'm appreciative for all support and whoa.

It's gonna everyone. My name is Sam Elkins we're down here in Los, Angeles California are gonna, be checking out the new iPhone 10 as Mac's pretty excited to check out everything. This camera has to offer, especially the HDR mode brand new. Also, the new I've heard the new dynamic range is pretty incredible, so excited contest. This thing out we're going to go walk around my neighborhood for a bit, then we're going to hit the mountains check everything out, see how it goes.

I'm, currently using an iPhone 10, so I'm excited to see like kind of the main differences between this and also the 10, but yeah yeah. Now we're going to shoot this test. It out sees how it goes. This is it's the 7, much brighter the shadows are mine. This walk this, like my normal, walked out of you every day to go, get coffee and like I, take some snaps in our way on my iPhone 10, all the way down here, some bees kind of mimicking it with the iPhone tennis max, but yeah just I'm just noticing their like you, can really see all you can see right here, they're, just like there's nothing! That's like you know, there's enough dynamic range in the highways and shadows that it is like it's perfect, it's not too much to wear like it's inevitable.

It looks weird, it's just the right amount and probably a phone I think that's like so nice. You just have that perfect dynamic range in the photo that you can edit if you want, but if you just want to share with your friends, you know like it's totally fine, it's pretty incredible, honestly, like it's. The color rendition and like the overall. Just like clarity of the image is a lot different from the iPhone 10, if I'm being honest, like I, didn't really think it was going to be, but it's its noticeable for sure all right, so this test, these photos might not be like the best Sam Elkins has ever seen. But again this is like this is something that everyone can do.

This is like every day, more everyday kind of stuff like walking to a coffee shop. Everyone does this. It is not like, which is maybe a more accurate test like the light's, not per dose fine, it's midday and then the dangers are coming later for sure, because I mean you got it right, our for everyone, who's seen a moment video. You know that this is our drink right here, it's actually so good la la iced lattes are they're. Nice I, don't think my autofocus I'm just taking picture of my coffee here at us another little aperture I know it's just a cup of coffee but tea, but still look it's, so I can be accurate the aperture like starting 1.4 or not really so accurate prob about f4 f5 is the sweet spot and then all the way up to f-16 it's pretty crazy. It does blow out the straw like I, think I mean just because it's like not really it's hard to notice part for the camera, but I think for your average, like portrait stuff, which will take some tonight like it'll, perform really well, it's outrage.

Ah, all right! Oh, it's actually important to note price. You said this earlier: we've been shooting all auto in the native app in the iPhone. So moment has an app that gives you tons of manual controls. We are not shooting in that I wish we were, but you know we got to do right by the test and keep it all auto, so sponsored one thing: besides the dynamic range, which was what we've been talking about pretty much the entire day. I really do enjoy the colors of this camera.

I think they're, pretty similar to the iPhone X I. Just think that it, the shadows being brought up and there's more detail in the shadows, makes it look more colorful. Therefore, you can see those details and colors that make sense. Also, the portrait mode is crazy. I think it's a lot better than the iPhone xf4 to like f 5.6 is kind of like the sweet spot. I think f, 1.4 looks fake, so don't stay away from that, but anywhere between 4 and like at 5.6 looks pretty natural like that's. What like a portrait would look like I fell goes.

What's that alright, one thing we haven't really done today is any video tests right now we're going to insert some 4k 24. It looked good on camera, so hopefully it looks good in the Edit on the timeline. This is Rachel. The oranges are all right. Do you think it's dark enough to start shooting yeah, probably I could barely see yeah we're both tired yeah, so I'm using the headlights of light? The whole thing has come kind of dark right now, but the grain you can't really notice, like I'm already seeing that like it's, definitely there, because it's like what probably 20 minutes past sunset now, but it's still usable, like that's usable, which is pretty awesome, I think, especially for like how late we are after sunset, I think.

If we took the same thing on my 10, it wouldn't look this nice and the cool thing is obviously we've been talking about. This is you can adjust, and it looks really nice you can see starting at 1.4, looks like kind of sweet spot. I think surround right about 5.6, maybe a little more, but so you get like the background. Textures of the rocks everything my Avalon can't do that bowls and real quick, oh all, right! Well, we are in the target parking lot yeah. We all right we've about three minutes of battery left, so we're to quickly do this all right thanks for watching again Sam Elkins, he's amazing, photographer also YouTube, so go check out his channel, oh gosh, iPhone, XS, Macs, first, I think I'm going to go get one pretty soon.

Oh, that's my I've! Coming from the iPhone 10, you know, I wasn't really sure what to expect honestly I'd heard they were pretty similar, the cameras and stuff, but I like I, said 100 million times. Maybe just do like a dynamic range counter. Yeah, weird dynamic range like a couple of hundred times, but because it really is incredible that that's the biggest difference I see between even the iPhone 10 and the 10s Mac, so yeah. By far the biggest difference, yeah I think I saw a difference in like the low light to low light. Video didn't look as good, but look photo low-light photos like something with like the noise reduction or how the sensor labeling.

It's perfect. You know it's that bigger sensor to I, guess don't know it's like a slightly bigger sensor in the new kit in the new phone, so that also that's gonna. Give you a wider frame of view, but also the lowlights going to be a lot better, because it's a bigger sensor, you can handle that. You know the noise a little better, yeah cool. Let us on the comments like.

Are you upgrading? Do you like the phone? Do you hate the phone? Are you an apple hater or an Apple fanboy, and also tell now, is to stop drinking something besides a nice smell to it? So yeah there's a plane all right on the left side. Now he's on the right.
