iPhone SE 2020: MUST Do These 10 Things First!

What's up guys Shane starts here. The UPS man finally arrived with your iPhone SE. You've had a chance to take it out of the box. These are the top 10 things. You should do right now to get the best possible experience out of your iPhone SE. Let's go ahead and get started.

So when you first power up your phone, you're going to get this hello screen. The very first thing that you should be doing is transferring your data from your old phone to your new phone. Now this used to be a pretty arduous process, as you had to do it through the iCloud. So you had to have backed up your phone before to be able to transfer your data to your new phone, but that is no longer the case with the latest version of iOS. So basically on your new phone press home, select English, and you should get a message that pops up on your new phone, simply press Continue, that's going to automatically connect your new phone to Wi-Fi, so we'll go ahead and take our picture of the QR code.

This automatically connect your new iPhone SE to Wi-Fi, and then it will begin the data transfer process all right. So the very first thing that you're going to want to do once you've got all your data transferred over, and you're happy with that you're going to want to protect this phone I know this phone is only 399 dollars, but you're going to want to protect your investment so for cases always recommend an urban armor gear. Now this is for this particular one is for the galaxy s 20 ultra I. Don't have my iPhone SE case in yet, but I always do go with an urban armor gear case. Actually like this civilian series by urban armor gear, and just to me, has a much more modern look to it.

The older one had a much more industrial look. This definitely has a much more sleek look and I prefer it. These cases are going to provide your phone with military standard drop protection. So it's going to help with impact, and it's going to help to keep your glass safe. The other thing that you can do to keep your glass safe is a screen protector.

My favorite is the white stone dome. Now the reason I like the white stone dome is that it doesn't fall off. This is a premium tip for glass product. It is applied with adhesive and a UV light, so once it's on there, it is not coming off until you were good and ready for it to come off. I've never had a screen break when using a white stone, dome screen protector urban armor gear case.

Neither one of those companies have paid me to say nice things about them. Those are just my personal favorite products that I use all the time in regard to protecting my phone all right. So while we are on the subject of protecting your phone you're going to want to make sure that you do add a lock screen so to add a lock screen here, we're going to go into settings will go into touch ID and passcode all right. So here you can go ahead and set up your touch ID. Now, more than likely, when you were first running through the initial setup, you did set up an ID for one fingerprint, but here you can go ahead and add multiple fingerprints.

So we'll do this for iPhone unlock, and we'll go ahead and set this up. I'm doing this for my index, because I've already got it set up for my thumb, and we'll just kind of roll around, you can do up to four different fingerprints. That's one thing that I do love about the iPhone SE 20/20 is that it does bring back the fingerprint scanner. Anything after iPhone X uses face ID and does away with that fingerprint scanner on all of my Android devices. I love the fingerprint scanner, so I'm glad that it is back on the iPhone SE 20/20, while we're on the subject of the home button.

That's another thing that I love about the iPhone SE 20/20 is: it does bring back the physical home button, there's actually different settings that you can do for the sensitivity of the home button, and it actually uses haptic feedback to kind of mimic an actual physical home button. So this is not a mechanical home button, but rather it is a touchpad that senses your press, so we'll go into our general settings, we'll go home button, and we will choose the amount of haptics that we like so for me personally. I prefer one because it feels the most like an actual physical button, so it feels like you're, actually clicking a button when you use one. If you use three, this is going to give you the most vibration. So if you really want to know that you've clicked the button, you can choose, three you'll feel it vibrate from the front and the back of the phone.

Whenever you click the button and number two is somewhere in between so for me personally, I prefer one, and I'll go with one on the home button. Another thing you're going to want to do as soon as you take the phone out of the boxes check the battery health. This is going to ensure that you're not going to have any problems or issues with your battery going forward. You want to make sure that you don't have a lemon directly out of the box, so we'll go into our settings, we'll go down to our battery settings and then click on battery health. Now, if this says anything other than 100% on maximum capacity, you have issues with your battery, and you're going to want to return this phone for a replacement, so no matter which carrier you are on.

You do have 14 days in the U. S. to go and get a brand-new phone. If you see anything other than 100% gray. The next thing you want to do is back in your battery settings go ahead and turn on battery percentage.

This way, you can see your exact battery percentage right there in your notification panel, and it's just a quick and easy way. Normally you'd have to swipe up to see that battery percentage in the control center, but you can just add it to the notification panel. That way, you can always see where your battery is for the day, all right, so next up you're going to want to make sure that you do turn on Find, My iPhone. So the way that you'll do that is you'll, go into your settings, click on your Apple ID and then scroll down to where you see find my, so you'll go ahead and turn on Find My iPhone make sure that that is turned on. This is going to help you to locate your phone if it's ever been lost or stolen.

So I don't know if you're forgetful, like some folks that I know, but this has definitely come in handy in times when maybe you went to a restaurant, you set your phone on the table, and then you left and then the next day you're like. Where is my phone? Most of us couldn't go that long without knowing where our phone was. But this is definitely helpful in situations it can also help. This can also help the authorities in tracking down your phone if it has been stolen. You can also do things like remotely wipe your phone.

So if it is stolen- and this is turned on- you can go to icloud. com, slash find, and you can actually remotely wipe your phone I think you can even turn on an alarm on your phone. So that way, the person who stole your phone. That knows that the phone has been stolen, maybe they'll toss it, and you can locate it later if you are on a limited data plan. So maybe you have like a 5 gig per month cap or a 20 gig per month cap.

One thing that is set by default on your iPhone out of the box is Wi-Fi assist. So the idea behind this is that app will always want you to have the best possible experience on your cell phone. If you to be on a Wi-Fi network, that is not super strong, and you go to download a file. Maybe you'll see that the file downloads, slowly or maybe pages won't load as fast as Apple would like for them to load on this brand-new phone. So what they have is Wi-Fi assist.

It's actually going to be using your mobile data when you think you're using Wi-Fi. So that this could cause you to quickly run out of your data allotment, and you may see overages if you don't turn that off. It's super easy to turn off we're just going to go into our cellular. Go all the way down to the bottom of the page here and where it says. Wi-Fi assist, go ahead and turn that off so in just a few missed a few moments that I've had this turn on.

It says that I have used four hundred and ninety-seven megabytes of mobile data of Wi-Fi assists. So you can see how that would totally add up over time when you could even be charged extra for using your mobile data when you thought you were on Wi-Fi, so go ahead and turn that off. Unless you have an unlimited plan, then you may want to go in there and turn that on all right. So the next thing that I like to do is I like to go in and turn on the Do Not Disturb. So the reason that I like to turn on Do Not Disturb is there are certain times of the day when I'm not going to be on my cell phone, so from the hours of 11 p.

m. to about 5 o'clock in the morning, I don't like for my phone to buzz or ring or be notified of anything while I'm trying to sleep, because that can absolutely disturb my sleep patterns. So if you want to turn on Do, Not Disturb turn that on there you can also turn on schedules so from like the hours of 11:00 to 5:00 a. m. if you know that you're not going to be using your phone to get scheduled out there.

This is also great for, if you happen to be in a meeting, you can turn on and do not disturb as well all right. So if you go down here, there are some filters here. You can allow calls from everyone, or you can choose your favorites. So if you have your favorites enabled you can still get in touch with your family members. If there's an emergency, they'll still be able to call, you still be able to get through, even with do not disturb turn on.

If you want to just use this as a way to not be bothered by people, you don't know or by telemarketers, you can actually go in here and choose all contacts, so any contact that you have saved will still be able to get to they do not disturb telemarketers and people. You don't know, will not be able to contact you if you have done not disturb turn on and all contacts selected, one great benefit of the iPhone SE 2020 is it's $399, but it has the most powerful chip in it. So it has the 813 Bionic. So this is going to be a speedy, fast phone, even though it's only $399, which is incredible, but you can actually speed this up even more by changing a specific setting. So we're going to our settings we'll go into general and app refresh so general, and we'll go into background app refresh.

So all of these applications are able to refresh, in the background, so they're, using up resources they're using up your RAM they're, using up your battery. If there's any of these applications that you know, you won't use like I'm not going on any flights anytime soon, so I'm going to turn off the American I'm, not going on any cruises. I'll turn off the carnival hub, I'm not going to Disney world anytime soon, so I'll turn that off and my child is no longer in school right now because of everything. That's going on. So we'll turn off class dojo and you kind of get the point here.

Anything that you're not going to be using on a regular basis does not need to be able to refresh in the background turning those features off on those specific applications. It's going to help you to save battery and also your RAM. It's going to help you to get better performance out of this phone, and so on thing that I really like about the iPhone SE. If this is one that you're upgrading to from a previous iPhone, we do have the control center. So if you swipe up, you have all of these toggles in place, you've got airplane mode.

Wi-Fi you've got a Bluetooth toggle here, music controls, audio and brightness controls are here, you've got auto, rotate lock. Is there screen mirroring and some other toggles here, like your flashlight, you can quickly and easily get to your flashlight. All of this can be customized, so we're going to go ahead and jump into our settings, and then we'll go into control center here and customize controls. So these are all of your quick toggles here, but you have a whole plethora here of other toggles that you can add. You can add the dark mode toggle, which is great because with the latest version of iOS, we now have dark mode, but maybe you don't want that on all day? Maybe you just want it on at night, so you can actually turn on this dark mode toggle.

Maybe you want to turn on the Do Not Disturb, while driving toggle, so you're not tempted to answer a phone call or check on your notifications, while you're driving. You can turn that on so now, if we go back to our control center, we now have the dark mode toggle. So now, if I go back to settings I'm in dark mode, also like this QR code, reader toggle, because there are all kinds of instances when I run into QR codes, and maybe I want to be able to scan those on the fly. So I like to have that in my control center as well, so just for customization purposes, you can actually change the name of your device. This is the name that's going to show up on Wi-Fi networks whenever you do connect to a wife, own Wi-Fi network.

If you need to access it with a computer you'll be able to access it through that name to change that we'll go into general and about and then we'll just change the name, so we'll go to general and about, and we can change the name here so here, I'll, just change it to Shane Stares. That way, if I'm on a network- or you know when you're accessing your phone from iCloud comm slash find this is the name that shows up when you're using those types of services and the last thing that I always do on a new iPhone is I, do change the notification sounds and the ringtones. The reason for that is because I have an iPhone at work, and it is set up with the default ringtones. So if my personal phone rings with the default ringtone, it always puts me in that work mode and if I'm trying to relax at home I don't want to be bothered by my work ringtone. It also helps me to separate my personal phone from my work phone.

If I hear the work phone default ringtone, they don't know, that's my work phone. If I hear the new ringtone on my new phone, that I'll know it's my phone, so I just go into settings sounds and haptics. You can change your ringtone here and anything that is not the default is something that I will go with, so I, don't even care if it's just a text. Anything that's not! The default to take me, you know back into that work mode, it's great for me. So if we go into the text tone, you can do the same thing here.

Anything that is not that default notification is perfect for me, alright, guys that about wraps it up for this video. Hopefully these settings will help you to have the best possible experience on your new iPhone SE. Make sure that you are subscribed to this channel for more content like this in the future. Thanks guys for watching be blessed, I'll see you in the next one.
