iPhone 7 Plus Still Worth it in 2020?: The Re-Review By PAINFULLY HONEST TECH

iPhone 7 was announced in 2016, and it's a little of an understatement to say at the time it ruffled some feathers on one hand, Apple really plumped up the design game with some new colors and finally getting rid of the ugly antenna bands that used to go along the back of the phones and that kind of thing. But this was also the year that Apple summoned the courage to remove the headphone jack yeah Apple, as a company has changed some since those days, and they seem to be coming back around to a more customer-friendly practice model compared to how they were back. Then everything from the new, affordable, I phone, like the 10, are the 11, the SE 20/20, as well as replacing the failed keyboard design in the MacBooks for something that is more not failing and yeah. A lot of that change in attitude has brought me back to the Apple fold of the iPhone 7 was at the front of that, will give you what we want, and you're just gonna. Take it kind of attitude that Apple had for a while, so no matter how good a phone it was or is, there's always just a little of a love-hate relationship for me and the iPhone 7, but some of you are either out there holding on to an iPhone, 7 or 7, plus not wanting to let go the home button or still in love with the two black finishes. That only came in this one year, the jet black and the matte black, and you're wondering if it's time to upgrade, especially since Apple, is just releasing the all new iPhone SE 20/20 I just got mine it's over there.

That's basically an iPhone 8 with 2019 internals for $400, it's a beast of a phone, but it's not for everyone, especially if you prefer the plus size phones, there are rumors, that they will release a plus-size iPhone SE next year. But if you might be in the market for a new phone now that next year released doesn't help. Then there are others out there who are wondering if the iPhone 7 might be a viable option for them. For a multitude of reasons. Maybe you want something a little more budget-conscious.

Maybe you want something bigger. Maybe you don't like the newer models? Who knows what it is, so you're thinking about the iPhone 7 7 plus as, as possible way to go for yourself, it's a three-year-old phone now, and will it hold up long enough to be worth spending the money on I ordered this iPhone 7 plus in matte black, maybe maybe maybe just the best color of an iPhone ever from Amazon renewed to see how it held up in this video I'm gonna. Take you through a few of the pros and the cons that I found of the iPhone 7 plus, and hopefully that will help you decide if it's right for you to keep or buy in 2020 plus I've got a surprise coming toward the end of the video that might make the decision for you a lot easier. So please stick around for that, but until then, let's get into it. First, let's go over some pros.

The iPhone 7 was a pretty significant leap forward. In the looks departments there was the aforementioned black, but they also had gold rose, gold, Space Gray later they added a product red version and those phones always look great. The product red is so sexy, another big plus they figured out how to get rid of the antenna bands and just keep them to the sides without having to have them go across the back. This resulted in a much cleaner look along with the matte and jet black. The iPhone 7 was a looker around the front things weren't looking too bad either the screen, 1080p LCD, looked and still looks fantastic, putting it up against the screens of more recent phones.

It definitely holds its ground. Most people aren't comparing screens like that. They don't have an old phone and a new phone and are comparing the two. This screen is still bright and vibrant. It gets over 600 nits of brightness, and no no, it's not as vibrant as an OLED screen, but you can forgive it that because it still really looks fantastic.

The most important part of the front of the iPhone 7 plus for a lot of people, would be this home button right here which doubles as the entry point for touch ID. The lack of those two features have had a lot of people hanging onto their older phones because they don't want to lose the button. And/Or touch ID, the new iPhone SE brings the button back, brings touch ID back, but the home button on the iPhone 7 and 7 plus it was the first home button to use haptic feedback to simulate the feel of a button press instead of actually being a button, and since it's not a button, it can't break the way that home buttons have broken four previous iPhone models. The camera is still pretty great. It was the first iPhone with a dual camera lens.

This iPhone 7 plus, was the first camera with the dual lens, and it still takes really, really great pictures. Remember no one ever became a better photographer because they bought a newer phone or a newer camera or anything like that. A tool is a tool. You learn how to use the tools, and you get better. The iPhone 7 can take incredible pictures, and it looks really great when it comes to the camera.

Video on the iPhone has always been the best in the business, and that's still true here. Yes, it only shoots in 4k 30 frames per second, but really the only people fretting over that distinction are people who wouldn't likely be considering this three-year-old phone for their daily driver, oh I, said daily driver, but what might ultimately keep you and your iPhone 7 plus is not updates after three years. A lot of phones, you know, are done getting new operating system updates, but Apple typically supports their phones for up to five years, if not a little longer. The seven plus I have here is running iOS 13. It has the dark mode going on all the bells and whistles that the new update brings.

It feels and looks like a new phone I've been running sort of a blackout mode as you can see, and it makes the phone look really amazing, minimizing the visibility of the larger bezels and accentuating this nice body. Color I mean I'm a long way. Here is where we come to the special surprise that I promised I bought this phone from the Amazon renewed program on, of course, amazon. com for 250 dollars and that's not for the base storage model. This is for a hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes of storage, which is pretty much the perfect amount of storage for most people out there.

In my opinion, two hundred and fifty dollars, yeah yeah, the new iPhone SE, is a great phone at $400, but you get more phone. When you buy this renewed iPhone, 7 plus for less money, there are trade-offs to be had sure, but if I had to choose to do the smaller SE and the larger seven plus I'd likely go with the seven plus, especially in this coated, I mentioned that I, like this color now there are some downsides to using a three-year-old phone. There is always battery capacity will have diminished a little, but Amazon renewed guarantees. You at least 80% battery capacity with your purchase. You've got 90 days of guarantee where you can use the phone.

If it's not for you, then you can send it back, and they guarantee 80%. Mine had 87% battery capacity, and it's been more than an all-day phone and a couple of weeks now that I've used it and, of course, if the battery slips a little after a while, you can go to the Apple Store. The battery can be replaced through relatively little money as long well, once you can go back to the Apple Store. Another downside that is worth talking about is, since we've become used to wireless charging over the past couple of years. The lack of wireless charging on the iPhone 7 7 plus, is noticeable because it's made out of metal, and you can't do that.

The iPhone 8 with its glass back was the first to offer wireless charging. You don't get that here, I, suppose you got this decent trade-off, where the aluminum body really feels solid, and I'm, not as concerned about carrying this phone out around without a case, I feel like I could hit people over the head with it, but once you get used to dropping your phone on a charger, and they're walking away or when you want to sleep at night, it's hard to go back to digging around for that lightning, cable and sticking it in there whenever it needs to be stuck in. The same can be said for using touch ID over face ID. They both have their pros and cons. Some people prefer one somebody before the other I will say it took me a couple of days to get used to using touch ID again after getting used to face ID over the past few years and if you're in the same boat, you'll, probably experience a little of the same adjustment period as well.

Finally, if you've watched my channel for a while you'll know that audio is kind of a big deal for me and the removal of the headphone check I was insulting to me, particularly the way Apple tried to sell it with. You know the all the courage stuff wireless headphones have come a long way since 2016, but back then wireless headphones weren't, nearly as good as they are now and even so. Wire headphones will always sound, but I love headphones, losing the jack really stuck. Maybe it's not a big deal to you and that's that's cool, but I was really chapped about it and, as you can tell I'm still a little raw tender about it now, judge and/or slash, buy the iPhone 7 plus in 2020. All things considered, I'd say: yes, there are some compromises, but does will matter more or less depending on you, the individual, what you like, what you need, I've been really enjoying using mine, and it's a different and really pleasant break away from the current iPhone designs with the notch and all that kind of stuff.

You know this has a squared off-screen and that's that's. You can see everything you have an iPhone, 7, plus, and you're wondering if you should upgrade I'd say it's not super critical, the iPhone SE 2020 is a great phone, but the size will be an issue for you if you're coming from a plus-sized phone. What you're looking for is a feature-rich, solid, great looking phone I mean Amazon renewed. Has these things just pristine?
