iPhone 12 product red, unboxing and first impressions that video is coming up right. Now, let's go, so what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology and welcome to my iPhone 12 product red unboxing? Now I went with the product red color because it's just my favorite color is red, as you see on the banner of the channel and everyone else is getting blue. So I'm like no, thanks. So over here you can see, includes iPhone 12 to USB to lightning power. Adapter and headphones are sold separately, so yeah no more charger, no more headphones in the box, but this does have 5g right there, sub 6 and millimeter wave, and you do have, of course, the great Wi-Fi 6 as well as great GPS capabilities, just like you're used to with all your other iPhones. So basically the first impressions I got when I have first seen this box was incredibly small box.
If you take a look at to an iPhone box from last year, here's an 11 pro box just look how much thinner! That is not that really matters uh to most buyers, but it does matter for the environment and peel the pull tab right here. One thing I like about the apple products is they're super easy to open up. It's just one pull tab, and then you're right into the box, the device- and there is the iPhone 12 product red now some people are saying: is this the peach? This definitely doesn't look peach, in my opinion, strikingly light. I'm also feeling this just feels lighter than the iPhone 11 of last year. So definitely did reduce the dimensions in terms of the weight just a little and then square sides are immediately present the minute you hold this phone.
So let's go ahead and pull this up, and you can see there is display we'll go ahead and boot that up while we're looking at what else comes inside this box, it's not going to be very much, so it's going to put the iPhone right there, and you can see right here, product red. We also do have a sim card tray and right here. If you do get a product red model, it does say, in partnership with red apple, will contribute a portion to aids. HIV stuff like that. So definitely does go to a good cause here, and you could see sim card tool.
One apple sticker, not two apple stickers, so definitely reducing what you get in the package, I'm okay with this, and you can see they did at least include this lightning cable right here, but you are going to need a charging brick so definitely losing out on headphones. No charging, brick you're going to have to buy your own, but if you already have one from your prior iPhone, which you probably already do you shouldn't have a problem here: okay, guys, so let's go ahead and set this thing up now, I'm just loving the square sides. It gives it a nice feel like a nice grip in the hand it feels sturdy. It feels like you're not going to drop it, but also has this level of light weight that I didn't feel on the prey pass edition. So if you like lightweight phones, definitely the 12 series is gonna.
Be up your alley. Okay guys so, let's hit continue here, and we'll go ahead and set up face ID later in settings and also do this right now, so we set up a passcode here, and then you can choose to restore I'm not going to do that right now. I usually set up my iPhones as new guys, so we're going to go ahead with the express settings hit continue here, keep your iPhone up to date, so the setup process there's quite a few steps to get into the iPhone, but it's pretty straightforward, you're pretty used to this already we'll set this up later. Not now we'll continue with that won't share hit continue, you can choose between dark and light modes, display zoom options as well, and we are now in iOS 14 on the iPhone 12. Now I'm going to tell you right now, I'm looking at this display, I can already see 60 hertz, I'm I'm just not feeling the 60 hertz.
I really want to see apple put promotion on the iPhone. It's clearly evident when comparing this to a s20 Fe to an OnePlus 8t, not to say it's not a smooth device. It definitely is very smooth because apple's always been smooth, but I'm saying this has been overtaken in the hardware department by 120 her panels bar none space model comes in at 7.99 with a carrier, it's actually 8.29 unlocked, and it only gives you 64 gigs of storage. So this is definitely not the best value phone this year in storage, but again most people buying an iPhone are still going to buy it either way. So that's not going to be the deciding factor I feel like, but still 64 gigs may or may not be enough for you.
Let me know if 64 gigs is not for you. I just wanted to point that out not saying it's a bad thing, but I would like to see 128 gigs standard even on the iPhone 12 at 829 bucks. Now today, they're coming with 14.1, depending on when you buy your iPhone 12 as apple manufactures them, they usually update the software depending on when it's shipped out, so this shipped out with 14.1. So that's the software you will get if you decide to pre-order an iPhone 12 right now. I also want to go ahead and take a look at the wallpapers.
I always like to do that on new phones. Usually apple does include a couple new ones per phone. You can see that the iPhone 12 does come with several wallpapers. Not bad looks like they have one color matching, basically, every iPhone you can buy right there, so I actually quite like them. It looks like that event.
Poster from the high speed event definitely liking these wallpapers. I think it's a nice change over the last model, so definitely not bad. Oh, this phone weighs only 164 grams. This whole entire time. I've been reviewing this or unboxing this so far.
That's all I could think about is just how light this feels. Yes, a case will weigh it down, but it's got a nice grip here on the sides with the squared off edges. Let's take a look at the design, so right here you can see. We do have ourselves a power button squared off edges. Here, then we do have the product red Apple logo, on the back similar camera setup as the iPhone 11 in terms of the design.
You can see very flat, though I mean it's not flat fully, it's not flush, but it's not sticking out too bad either then over here on what would be the left side you can see. We do have ourselves. The silent switch right here, antenna lines up here and down here sim card tray, is on the left. I wrongly asserted that the sim card tray was on the right. I think in one of my size comparisons, but you can see right there, power buttons, I'm getting very iPad Pro kind of feels from this phone.
You can also say the older iPhones. Definitely for me, it's more like the iPad Air 2020, the iPad Pro. You know these, these, the squared off edges, they're, just trying to keep everything in sync and that's very apple, because Apple usually does that they usually like to keep everything looking pretty consistent across their product line. So this is no different. Now on the bottom, I noticed one thing right here on the iPhone 12: it has like a little less of these holes down here for the microphone.
If you look on the iPhone 11, there's definitely more so that you could say that's a little cleaner, I'm not sure what you think about it. But overall, I think this is more of an evolutionary design over the iPhone 11. It's not much different, but it definitely feels different, mostly because of those squared edges. That was a good move. I believe giving you like a feel of the past.
iPhone melded with the modern, definitely excited about the mini coming as well, because this in an even smaller package that just feels exciting then over here. If we take a look at the top, you can see, the notch is definitely still there not feeling that whatsoever. But yes, the technology in there is fantastic face. I'd is an amazing technology, so at least there's a reason for it in there. But at this point seeing a notch is like seeing the iPhone 10 to me.
It's been around for quite some time. Nothing new, nothing, spectacular. Another thing you'll notice, is that this phone will not give you a headphone jack, so don't ever expect that it's not coming back to the iPhone and let's go ahead and take a look at the camera. So you do have quick take video just like last year we do have portrait modes as well. I have to test this in depth, but it's looking like, of course, apple's going to improve the camera every year and what I'm really looking forward to is the video quality specifically on the pro series, but I'm sure it's going to be quite good on here with that Dolby Vision, HDR stuff- and I can tell you just not even taking it outside just looking through this lens right here, I can see it's more colorful than last year's video.
You can punch in wide, and you can also zoom up to 3x and video here for iPhone 12 up to 5x in just the digital for the regular photo. So you got the cameras. I think that matter the most here on the iPhone 12, and that is the wide angle and the standard wide. So let's go ahead and take a photo there. I'm going to have to test this further to see how it stacks up to the competition, but just based on experiences with the iPhone.
Of course, you know. You're going to get a great camera experience here with the iPhone 12. Okay, so let's have a little audio sound, actually so pretty acceptable. So where are you actually using the money here for getting the iPhone 12? I mean: where does it pay off and that's going to be in the chipset? The software updates very fast and very efficient when it comes to software support, maybe it pays off for you if you're going to keep a phone five years and also having that beast chips that we will be doing speed tests on this phone so stay tuned for that. But I can tell you on first impressions, I'm not trying to knock this phone or seem like I don't like it.
I definitely like the device. I love the color. Furthermore, I love the squared off edges. The 60 hertz thing is just so noticeable now compared to 120. Hertz devices well.
Apple also included an OLED display on here, which is definitely noticeable much more vibrant than that of the iPhone 11. So if you are looking for a better display over iPhone, 10r or 11, I like this upgrade for you. I think it's an excellent upgrade if you're coming from one of those two, if you want the OLED display, but you don't want to pay a thousand for it so now before we wrap it up. I will give my final thoughts in a minute on my first impressions, um we're gonna, compare it to some other devices. You can kind of get a size difference.
You can kind of see what they look like. So here is the iPhone 11. Basically, a similar phone you're, probably not in need of an upgrade. If you have this, unless you just want the OLED display, you want the a14 chip. You want the squared sides they're very, very similar phones, not a major difference between the two, but you can definitely feel the difference in the curved edges versus the squared edges.
That's definitely a difference. How about a competitor in the galaxy s20 Fe? These phones are going to go head-to-head. The Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe has a 120 hertz display a snapdragon 865. It is a little bigger and definitely has a little of a cheaper price point though, and definitely with some trade-in values and stuff. You can get this a lot cheaper than the iPhone 12 and there are some things that make the Samsung better than this iPhone 12.
I'll discuss those in the future, but for now I think iPhone 12 is still going to be a hot seller. The iPhone 10 right here, you're, coming from the 10 to the 12 and one thing you'll notice- is that the 12 is not that much more to hold than the iPhone 10. So if you have an iPhone 10, and you don't want to pay a thousand again for a phone, you get another dual camera, but you're also now getting the wide angle over the telephoto, and you're getting a phone that almost is the same size and stature with a little bigger of a screen, so that would be a decent upgrade. I feel like if you don't want to use the 10. No more now, if you have the iPhone 8 plus, you can see you're going down in terms of the actual body, and you're going to a different aspect ratio, so the phone will definitely feel smaller than the iPhone 8 plus, and then we'll take a look at the OnePlus 8t.
You can see right here. This device definitely going to give this one a run for its money as well, giving you a quad camera versus a dual camera at the same price, actually cheaper than the iPhone 12. Again, you have options out here these days with a 120 hertz on this one, 65 watt charging it's a fierce, fierce market these days, but apple still runs the show when it comes to brand loyalty. Now you can see over here we do have the Apple iPhone, 8 excellent, upgrade. I think for this one as well.
So if you do have the iPhone 8, you are going to have a much bigger display, but surprisingly it doesn't feel that much heavier. I think, if you handled an iPhone 8, you probably won't have too much trouble handling the iPhone 12. The iPhone 10r feels thicker and heavier and just bigger, just a little than the iPhone 12, not by a lot, but definitely that iPhone 12 feels more compact. It feels lighter, and this is not even the mini wait till the mini comes and that's about it. That's what I wanted to look at in terms of some phones.
You might potentially be thinking about upgrading my final thoughts on this first impressions. I love the design. I love the new squared off edges. Furthermore, I think it adds a nice level of grip to the phone that you might not have. You know that you might have been missing from the iPhone.
I see days those things I like the lightweight I like how they're decreasing the weight it makes it feel more manageable, day-to-day I'm not feeling the notch. I want to see reductions. Furthermore, I want to see differences on those displays. It looks the same as 2017. , I'm feeling the OLED display.
It's definitely going to be quite bright. Furthermore, it also looks very well-balanced, very accurate, and I'm not liking the 120 hertz, as I mentioned several times throughout this video, it's so noticeable. When you compare it side by side with a 120 hertz display, I don't care what anybody says. If you put them side by side, you will see it now. If you don't ever see in 120 hertz, you won't care whatsoever, and I do like this product red color, but you might like the blue.
You might like the green. I have seen them in person. The white one for me was the one that was the most boring. It didn't really stand out this year. Let me know your guy's thoughts on the iPhone 12.
Did you pick one up? Did you receive yours already? Are you planning on buying this phone?
