iPhone 12 Mini vs iPhone 5 SPEED TEST! By MadMatt

Alrighty guys in today's video we're going to do something a bit special we're going to do a speed test between the brand new iPhone 12 mini first, the iPhone 5. , the iPhone 5 was actually first iPhone to pretty much have the exact same shape as the new iPhone 12s do um. So I want to put the smallest iPhone 12, which is the iPhone mini up against the iPhone 5. Um. The iPhone 5 came out eight years ago, so I want to see the difference in speed and see how much we have come in eight years. So if you guys do enjoy, make sure smash the thumbs up button and without further ado, let's hop straight into the speed test.

Alrighty guys I have the brand new iPhone 12 mini on my right and the iPhone 5 on my left as per usual, we're going to do a boot up test and have a few apps here to run on both devices um, nothing too crazy, because the iPhone 5 will probably die um, probably the biggest app we have is real racing. Three, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes. Um but 2012 was 2020, pretty sure this was the a6, and obviously we have the a14 now. So I want to see how much of a difference um eight years makes with the iPhone um, as you guys can see the obvious difference in screen real estate and all that kind of stuff. But apart from that, let's see how much faster the new iPhone 12 actually is.

So, let's power both devices down all right, so both devices are powered down on the count of three I'm going to plug in the charges um and see which one boots up. First, one two three so iPhone five's actually started its Apple logo. First, current position is centered, as you can see there, the iPhone 12 mini has one I actually heard the iPhone there. We go the iPhone 5 noise about 10 20 seconds ago now. It's just turned on, so a bit of time there a bit of delay, but here we go both on the home screen here, um we're going to start with some general apps after we clear the app switches make sure nothing's open just have settings there and the phone app, so they're all cleared out.

Now we're going to start with the camera app, so one two three, the iPhone five actually focused first yeah we're gonna, leave the um apps open in the background as well, because I think this has one gig of ram, and this has its four. So I want to see the difference. There um maps, one two three, so the iPhone 12 one there by a big margin, all right now hopping into weather. One two: three iPhone 12 app store one two three! So there's a bit of a delay when you click on the app there, as you guys, probably saw um but iPhone 12 again faster there, all right, let's head into safari one, two: three, let's clear these all out all right! So, let's head over to the speed test, folder we'll go to the verge one. Two three iPhone 12 mini iPhone, 5 still loading.

I can't believe that even in 2012 we used to use this, and this was classified as a fast phone. How times have changed? This is still loading the verge right. Now it's almost halfway come on all right. There we go finally done all right. What's next, all right, let's hop into CNET one two three iPhone 5 actually beat out the iPhone 12 mini there.

Surprisingly Apple Store, one two three or the upper website. iPhone 12 is already done well, come on little buddy you're, almost there. Okay, that's done, and let's go on to New York times, which is a big website. Uh very intensive one, two, three: okay, pretty much, not not too much of a difference, a bit quicker on the iPhone 12 mini, but the iPhone 12. The iPhone 5 wasn't too far off okay.

So that's safari! Now before we get into the geek benches now, let's go to among us play some games first, one two three so as you guys can see already done on the iPhone 12 all right. Finally, a good 30 seconds later I reckon the iPhone 5 has actually loaded among us. There you go, so you can play among us on the iPhone 5. Subway surfer. Let's have a look one, two, three all right, so we're already loading up on the iPhone 12 mini ready to go all right, so the iPhone file was probably a good at least 30 seconds again, maybe even longer than the iPhone 12.

The iPhone 12 was ready pretty much instantly. So let's get out of that app, let's head over to cross road, one, two three, as you guys, can see the bit of a stutter on the iPhone 5 there. Maybe the iPhone 12 some reasons. It's its going to get beaten out. Let's have a look.

I thought it was. I thought it was going to lose because this actually loaded up everything else. First, but just this game part there we go come on as you guys can see on the screen. It's lagging a lot. Look at the cars there we go, so I think it's smooth itself out there.

Oh no, a bit of lag, so your iPhone 12 didn't obviously win there again, all right, let's head over to Netflix one, two: three: it's ready to go so the iPhone 5 not too far behind. Here there you go ready to play some Netflix all right. Let's get cut the rope one two, three, a lot of lags getting into the apps here, so the iPhone 12 is done all right. So a good again, probably about 20 30 seconds. We've got bubble struggle.

One two three iPhone at 12 mini almost done there, loading in now, all right, so we've got the iPhone 5 loading in as well, not too far behind there. There we go so skipped a couple of animations there, but not too far, quite close that one um YouTube one. Two three YouTube's ready to go still loading in the iPhone 5 there, it's quite a bit of a load time. There we go. Finally, there we go come on almost there we are, so it's almost finished.

Okay, there we go all right, let's open real racing, three one, two three again a bit of a stutter there from the iPhone five uh, let's see which one opens up first, as you guys can see it's loading in the last part there, so that took maybe 15 seconds 20 seconds to do that here we go a lot of lags as you guys can see, they're trying to load up it's getting there all right. So we are finished there. Let's open up speed test one two three! This is ready to go. It's got a result. I've already got all the results waiting, so I did two Wi-Fi tests on both um and the iPhone 5's.

Wi-Fi is not probably doesn't go above 40, as you guys can see there and upload was 5.31 compared to 37.4 on the iPhone 12 mini, so a bit of a difference, a lot of a big difference in terms of Wi-Fi speeds and obviously a lot more of a difference in terms of LTE speeds. There are the speed test results all right. Let's head into geek bench four one: two: three: we can't do a geek bench uh five, because the iPhone 5 doesn't actually support geek bench fives but, as you guys can see, they're 10.3.4 the latest firmware for the iPhone 5 and 14.2 on the iPhone um 12 mini one gig of ram um, verse 3.63, which is actually 4 gig ram. So let's do a CPU benchmark on both devices, and we'll come back when it's done all righty guys here are the geek bench 4 results, as you guys can see. The scores are a lot higher on the iPhone 12 minion eight years has shown um what the a14 is capable compared to the a6.

These scores are a lot different compared to the geek bench five scores, so don't even compare them with that. This is geek bench four. Just so you guys do know here are the scores, a huge, huge difference.
