iPhone 12 MINI Unboxing Review; RELEASE DAY First Impressions By Matt Talks Tech

Hi guys today is another special day for apple. It is the launch day for the iPhone 12 mini and also for the iPhone 12 Pro max. So today, in this video I'm going to be doing the unboxing of the iPhone 12 mini, and then I'm also going to be doing a review and give you my first impressions of this brilliant super mini iPhone. The iPhone 12 mini has come out, and so has the new iPhone 12 Pro max. I've already made a video for the iPhone 12 Pro max and that's uploaded on my channel, so do check that out of my review and my unboxing for this, but in this video I'm going to be focusing on the iPhone 12 mini now, it's still in its packaging, as you can see here, and you can see the light bouncing on that.

So I'm sorry about that. But we'll get that off at the moment, but, like I said, we're going to do the unboxing, and then we're going to put my settings onto this phone, and I'm going to give you my first review of first impressions of this iPhone 12 mini the smallest iPhone flagship that apple has made in quite a few years, but before we go on any further into this video, this channel has just hit over 88 000 subscribers. So this is the smallest iPhone 12 that has come out this year and yeah, it's quite a small box. If you look at my hand next to the box, you can see how small it really is. So, let's get off this cellophane first the plastic on the back and that perfect feeling of just peeling off oh yeah, such a good feeling to get that off the box.

Let's just remove that, and let's just put that plastic to one side and let's have a quick look at the box quickly. So yeah it's a nice thin white box here. What we've got here? That's because there's no charger inside the iPhone 12s this year, none of the iPhone 12s have it. In fact, any iPhone what's being sold on Apple's website now doesn't come with a charger. So even if you buy yourself an iPhone um SC or the uh 10r or the iPhone 11, what they're still selling you don't get a charger anymore.

You get a thinner box like this, but enough of that the box is really, really nice. You've got a bit of a 3d bump of the actual phone here. So let's get this open then, so I'm just going to lift it up. Oh, that was nice and easy, and there it is wow that is mini. Look at that, like I said, there's my hand again, that is tiny, and that is really cool.

This reminds me of the old days of like the old iPhone 5s or the SC, the first um version of it. That is tiny. Look at that. It feels really light as well, so yeah, I'm just going to move that to one side. I do like that blue, so I'm just going to put that to one side for the moment.

Let's see what else we've got in the box here, so we've got the usual apple bits and pieces in the little box here we've got the sim uh pin here to get your sim card tray out a bit of information and, of course, an apple sticker. You can't have an apple sticker with an apple item, so I'm just going to put those back in there for now and also at the same time as well. You might not get a charger, but you do get an USB c to lightning port connector cable. So if you do have an USB charger at home, you can connect this up, and I believe the iPhone 12 mini. You can go up to 20 watt charging of a wide connection, so I'm just going to put that back in there for now, but, as you can see, there's nothing really else in the box, because it's so thin or anything like that.

But yeah I'm just going to put the lid on and let's have a look at the iPhone 12 mini a little closer. So let's just turn it over. So you've got this sticker on it. What shows you've got the power button on the side. You've also got your volume rocker, and you've also got your notification silencer and making it loud again.

But let's peel off here, oh at the bottom, you've got a lightning port symbol there to say that the charge is there, I'm just going to peel that up and there it is. That is tiny and dinky. Look at that. It's tiny but yeah. That is really, really nice.

The foam is super thin, and it's got that nice matte look. Actually I do like that. I know the pro models have kind of a shiny metal, but this has got like a matte finish. What I actually really like, and then you've also got the glossy back here. You can see the light reflecting bouncing off it there.

It's a bit fingerprint sticky, it's picking up my fingerprints a little but yeah. It's still perfect. You've also got that dual camera setup on the back as well. It's exactly the same as the iPhone 12. , but let's power it on for the first time and let's see it come to life, so the power button is quite big because it's a normal-sized one, but I'm just going to press it here and there we go.

There's the Apple logo, and we're just going to get this to load up for the first time and then, like I said what I'm going to do, is I'm going to put on all of my bits and pieces onto this phone. It might take a bit of time. It might also have a software update to do as well, but I'll get that all sorted, but there we go we're at the main screen now and the phone is ready to get all my settings over to it. What I'm going to start doing in just a moment from now, but before we go on any further with this video. However, one thing I did have to do: I did have to do an iOS update. I had to do this for the 12 pro max as well to update it to iOS 14.2. So a lot of you guys are probably getting a new iPhone right now today, we'll probably have to do the same and do a software update. But apart from that yeah the process was really, really quick and all my apps are now basically downloaded, there's one or two remaining to get on here, but, as you can see, it is really, really nice and snappy and quick and in my hand it feels perfect this phone does. It feels really nice and small, and I think apple are onto something here with bringing back the small iPhones again a small flagship, iPhone uh 12, what they do have here, and I think this phone will actually sell quite a bit.

I know the 12 pro max is the king of the iPhone 12s, but I really do think people might go back to smaller. Phones and apple may be onto something here with it. The phone feels really light in my hand as well. It's good to have that feeling. I've been so used to just like a six-inch phones.

All the time I had big clunky things, and it's good to have a small little phone again and the screen size is really, really good. I do like this screen size as well, and it's a nice thin phone as you can see here, and it's giving me everything that I just really need in a flagship phone for a perfect, affordable price. So one thing I'm going to do now with the phone is: take it out for a bit of a spin, I'm going to take a couple of videos and take a couple of pictures and show you guys what this phone is capable of. So, as you can see here, the iPhone 12 mini takes some really impressive shots. So today it's not the best weather in Great britain or the UK.

This is your kind of standard, whether you're getting November time when this has been done, but the actual picture quality is superb, and I really do like it. So I'm just now going to also do some video footage and record on the rear, camera and the front camera, and we'll see what that sounds and looks like. So this is a bit of selfie footage using the iPhone 12. You can hear me everything. That's really, really clear here.

So yes, it's fantastic. This is all you need really for selfie footage or selfie video. So, let's test out the rear camera now and see what that looks like that sounds like so. This is just a quick demo of the rear camera capabilities on an iPhone 12 mini, and you can see the details are coming out really nicely in this full or autumn tree. You can see here and everything looks spectacular as you can see, picking up the sounds nicely and yeah overall, it is really nice and crisp on this and nice and stable.

So even as I walk here, the stabilization or the stabilization is kicking in, and it does look really, really good. As you can see, the autofocus is superb as well as I just walk along so yeah. It is absolutely fantastic, great little phone, definitely to check out so overall, you just can't go wrong with this iPhone 12 mini. If you just really want the small phone just to slip in your pocket. This is it.

This is definitely the phone to buy, especially for the price that you are getting. I really do like this phone. I do love the 12 pro max as well, but I just love the idea that I'm getting flagship features in such a small device. Furthermore, I would personally say if you can afford it: buy this phone over the iPhone SE. What was the budget phone that came out last year and if you're, considering yourself getting an iPhone 11 or maybe a XR, but you're thinking, they're a bit too big being 6.1 inches, definitely consider this 5.4 inch iPhone 12 mini well guys.
