iPhone 12 mini detailed battery test. (Dope or Flop?)

What's up guys, Tamar arson here the iPhone 12 mini, is a great phone and also a reminder of the classic design from apple which was seen in the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5. , and this mini since it's a compact phone, it's something many are excited for, but when the size of the phone gets shrunk down automatically, the battery inside also gets smaller and from some claims, the battery capacity of the mini is 2227 my, which is not very tiny, like the iPhone SC first generation or the iPhone SE second generation, but still it's small for today's standards, and that has made me eager to do a proper battery test. So this video is how well the battery is going to hold up with the mini, and here the test is divided into rounds running around. There are five things we're going to do, and these are those five things. So we start with YouTube streaming. Then we'll do some casual browsing stuff where we use apps like Instagram, safari, etc.

, and after that the third test is voice call followed by video recording and the last one is gaming, and here, as you can see, all these stuff will be done for 30 minutes and also the phone is now plugged in with 100 battery and also for this test. We have opted to go with mobile data on Wi-Fi off and Bluetooth. Also, on the display. Brightness is set between 30 and 40, and the volume level is set between 70 and 80 percent and also dark mode is off and same is the case with auto brightness setting and even the auto lock setting is set to never, and now I'm going to unplug the lightning cable and I did start the stopwatch and now, let's begin our first test in round one with just 30 minutes of YouTube video streaming and let's leave it here, and I'll, be fast forwarding this stuff to skip you from boredom, and now we're close to 50 minute mark in a stopwatch and on checking the phone. It's not even a bit warm, which is good, and also the battery person is still at 100, which is excellent for the start, and let's keep going to reach the 30-minute mark and here since we are close to that, I did check the phone's temperature, and it's still staying cool to touch and let me close YouTube: I'm not checking the battery percent, but it's at 99.

So there is a one percent drop in battery, but right now I won't get excited because usually with iPhones, the first percentage takes the sweet time to drop from 100 and then let's move to the second test, which is casual processing for 30 minutes and what I'm going to do is browse through Instagram and safari, and now that I've been doing it for approximately 15 minutes. I did check the battery, and it has dropped to 94 percent. That's a big hit, and it doesn't seem that good right now, but still like on. You know the casual crossing thing and when I was about with the one-hour mark in the stopwatch, the phone still is involved to touch which is a plus. But the battery has actually dropped to 90 percent.

So after one hour of use there is 10 percent of battery drop and now to the third test, which is 30 minutes of voice calling and yeah. I did check the battery percent when it was showing one hour 15 minutes in stop watch and at that time the phone was staying at normal temperature, but the battery person was at 87, which means there is three percent battery drop after 13 to 14 minutes of voice calling- and I did continue the test till the stopwatch- was about to the one hour 30 minute mark and when that mark was released, I did hang the call and the phone still was not warm, but the battery did drop to 83 percent. That's like four percent drop, so the overall voice, calling thing did have a seven percent battery drain, and now it's time for the most intense test, which is 4k, video recording for 30 minutes and for this test the HDR 10 bites. Video setting was off, and the video resolution was set to 4k at 60fps and I did start the test and when the stopwatch was about 1 hour 45 minute mark, I did check whether the phone was warm and, unsurprisingly, it was toasty. This does happen.

So it's not something to worry about, but the battery person at that time was at 75 percent. So there is a significant battery drain and I know normally people don't do such recordings, but for heavy users. This step is an insight and that's why I've delivered this video recording test and yet the video recording was still going on and when the stopwatch was in the two-hour range. I did once more check how hot the device is, and it's still very warm to touch, and since it was time to stop the recording, I did that and not checking the battery percent. It was at 66 percent, so this test has had a great impact on the battery with approximately 17 battery drains, and now it's time for some gaming.

I'm going to play Call of Duty for approximately 30 minutes and when I did start this test, the phone was really hot, but still there wasn't any hiccups and after playing for approximately 15 minutes, the phone did cool down a bit, which is a great thing, but the battery person was at 59. It's not a significant rain, like the one we had with video recording, but still it's bad, and also, if you're wondering about how easy it's to play games with the 12 mini. Well, I did get used to the size of the phone and hence I can now play games like Call of Duty pretty comfortably and now since the timer is in the 2 hour, 30 minute mark it's time to test the battery, but before that the phone was moderately hot, which usually happens with most of the phones and the battery person. Right now is in the 50 mark. So that's a proper 50 battery drops after 2 hours, 30 minutes of use- and this is not good.

So, even with gaming, that is approximately 16 percent battery drain and I feel the phone might turn off even before hitting the fire mark. Well, let's move on to find out that which means it's time for round two we're going to do all the fighters we did before and let's start things with 30 minutes of YouTube streaming, and you're. After doing this, for approximately 30 minutes, which is the three-hour mark in the stopwatch. But at that time the phone was again back to its normal temperature, but the battery was at 43, which means there is seven percent battery drain with YouTube streaming in mobile data, where the quality was set to auto selection, and I did start the next test, which is 30 minutes of casual browsing and here what I'm happy about. Is that and then, while recording 4k video, the phone doesn't get very hot and also for regular stuff.

The 12 mini stays cool to dodge. So now, since the timer is about in the three hour 30 minute mark, it means it's time to check the battery percent, and it's at 34, so with casual browsing. It's consistent. That is nine percent battery drop in every 30 minutes and now to the voice test for round two- and I did start the call and the phone is now at normal temperature, which is something to be happy about, and when this test was done for approximately 30 minutes, the timer was in the four-hour mark and the battery was at 27 percent, which means this time. Also.

There is seven percent battery drain when we do a voice call for 30 minutes, and I'm pretty sure this round will be the last and now to the most intense battery testing, which is 4k, video recording at 60 fps for 30 minutes and when the stopwatch was in the four hour.15 minute mark the low boiler popped up, and I just canceled it and continued the test and by the way, this time right after the five minute of video recording. It did stop because of a message pop up, but I did start another one without any delay so that the testing remained in the proper manner and after reaching the 4 hour 30 minute mark in the stopwatch. The phone was extremely hot, and the battery percent was at 10. So this time also there was a 17 battery drain and now to the last test for round 2, which for sure will be the final test and Call of Duty is the game and during the gameplay the phone did cool down a bit and when the stopwatch reached the 4 hour, 49 minute mark the phone did turn off and for this gameplay test there was approximately 10 battery drains in 20 minutes and overall, the battery backup of the 12 mini is not that good. I feel it's very average now.

This is because the battery is small, but then one more thing to note is that iOS 14 is not so good with battery optimization and also because the test was done in mobile. Data should have had a big impact too and overall, to summarize, if you're, a normal user who just do social media stuff, then you do make some calls and also do watch a lot of videos. I think you should be getting a screen on time in the fire 30 minute mark to six hour range, because here YouTube does drain seven percent of the battery in 30 minutes and while doing casual browsing there is a steady nine percent drop and with voice calls. The percentage drop was seven percent so telling these values will reflect approximately 23 percent of battery drop in one hour, 30 minutes, which in turn should give an approx value of six hours of screen on time and for every user expect a 30 battery range in one hour, which does make the screen on time below 4 hours. So from this you can decide whether this trail mini will last you well- and I guess this video should help you with your buying decision.

For me, even though the battery is the worst part, I still like this phone a lot. That's up for this video guys hope you enjoyed it. If so, I like is much appreciated and a sub will be great, see you again in the next one till then bye.
