Hey guys its Jeff and instead of doing an unboxing video like everyone else for the iPhone 11 Pro Max I thought I'd just get started with some testing and kind of comparing our two devices here. So I have the iPhone 11 Pro Max, as you can see, this beautiful new three camera design and then the last generation iPhone 10s max, and we kind of did some benchmarking tests on actual use tests between these two devices and really got in-depth as to how good the a13 buy on a chip really is. So we have some pretty fantastic results today, and we also compared it between the Google Pixel 3xl yeah, that wasn't that didn't fare too well against these two devices. But we just threw those results in to show you guys exactly what's going on elsewhere outside of iOS, and you know what your offerings are elsewhere as well. So let's go ahead dive into the results here, and then we'll talk about some more details as to what we are seeing today and how this may affect you when you make your upgraded choices so guys I have both of our devices here. iPhone 10s Macs on the left and on the right, the iPhone, 11 Pro Max, and will go ahead and test out the or check out the build numbers for both of these just fair warning.
They are different because the iPhone 11 Pro Max got its own special build of Iowa's 13.1. That is the version we're running on both devices here and that was for beta 4 on both of these devices. So here you can see that the build number and version number for the iPhone Menace max does not match what we're seeing here. But if you are a developer, you'd know that this special build is the same. Build of Iowa's 13.1 developer beta 4 is just the build. Numbers are slightly different.
Now, let's go ahead and check out our first benchmarking test run in Geek bench, and if you take a look at the version number here, running version number 5.0.1, so a different version from what we're running before in Geek bench 4. So, basically, the scores here are going to be a lot different. It's not that you know speeds have gotten slower. Deep bench has just revised how they score benchmarks, and that is the reason for the kind of low scores that you're seeing. So if you take a look on the left, single core score, 1122 and then 2488 for the multi-core and then on the right, the newest device here, 1333 for this single core and 3491 for the multi-core and yeah.
This is the start of the battle between a 12 and a 13 Bionic chip and so far the multi-core score on the iPhone 11 Pro max is very impressive. Let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below about the two scores there we'll be doing some further calculations on the exact improvement that we're seeing there, but I think we're going to have a hard time with this one, because this is a major improvement for to compute or graphics performance score, so 4584 for the iPhone 10s Max and then for the 11pro Max, six thousand four hundred and twenty-two. So that's a huge jump in performance between these two devices, and that is very impressive. Now, just to show you what we're working with here, iPhone tennis, max iPhone 12.5, which is code name for the iPhone 11 Pro Max and those are the different specs. So here are the specs for the iPhone 10s MX max a 12 by net chip running at 2.4, 9, gigahertz and the 11pro max. They don't have the exact processor that we're running, but that is the 13 by on a chip running at two point: six, five gigahertz and for both phones.
If you take a look at the first page here, the ram is kind of different on both it's actually registering as lower memory for the iPhone 11 Pro max. So those are the specs for our two devices. Let's move on to our second benchmarking test, which is actually way harder on your device than any other benchmarks that you can run, and these are the two different scores that we got so on our older device. Here we have three hundred twenty-nine thousand four hundred and thirty-one and our newest device here, four hundred twenty-eight thousand three hundred and thirty-two. So a major difference in our scores and I, as you saw in you, know, just updating to iOS 13 versus iOS twelve.
We got some major improvement on the iPhone tennis max, but we're just taking it to that next level. Here with the iPhone 11 Pro max now, here's a breakdown of the two scores and I kind of you know how its split between the CPU, GPU, UX score and memory, and the two scores that saw the biggest improvement were the CPU and GPU scores. So some pretty impressive results here from these two benchmarks, and I am so impressed as to how well the iPhone 11 Pro is doing so far. I don't think Geek bench is fully certified or fully compatible with the iPhone 11 Pro max of ice just yet so these scores can only improve from here, but so far the improvements that we're seeing so far on the iPhone 11 Pro Mac's are absolutely insane. So the next test that we're going to do is the restart test, so we're just going to see how fast each device will restart.
So, let's go into that menu here and then go to restart. So once we press restart on both devices, our iPhones will restart, so we'll do that at the same time and put up a timer at the bottom here, let's go ahead and restart, so it looks like both of them are pretty quick to get the screen off and start the restart process, but I have a feeling that the newer device will take a little longer, just because it's loading a lot more information right now, so Apple will definitely have to make sure that this restart process is a little faster for the newer device. But given that it's doing so many computations I doubt that the restart process would be faster for the newer devices versus the old one. So, as you can see there, a big difference in times for restart looks like the iPhone tennis max was faster, but given we have a newer technology here, I, wouldn't that doesn't really surprise me. Okay, so those were our tests between the iPhone at 10 s, Max and the iPhone 11 Pro max.
Let's go ahead and break down those numbers to kind of give you a more exact calculation as to what those results really mean, we'll start out with Geek bench, where we saw on the iPhone 10s max a combined CPU score of three thousand six hundred and ten on the 11pro max the combined CPU score was 4824. Now between the two. We saw about a thirty-three point: six percent increase of those scores going from the iPhone 10s max to the iPhone 11 Pro max, which is a perfect result. Now, let's switch over to the GPU side of things, and these scores I'll just go ahead and remind you of those for the iPhone tennis max were four thousand five hundred eighty-four and the 11pro max six thousand four hundred and twenty-two now between those two scores, the total increased percentage in performance is forty percent. That's a huge increase going from the 12 by no chip, which was already a really fast chip faster than anything else on the market, and we're seeing that constant I'm.
Just you know uptick in performance with the 13 by enough chip here, and this goes in line with what Apple was saying at their iPhone event in September, where they presented all these iPhones. Basically, they said you were going to be seeing even faster performance farther than anything else on the market, and this is exactly what we're seeing here at day, one now, let's switch over to they add two to benchmarks where we saw some pretty good scores as well. For the iPhone tennis max, we saw a total score of three hundred twenty-nine thousand four hundred thirty-one and for the 11pro max four hundred twenty-eight thousand three hundred and thirty-two. Now between the two scores. That's a 30% increase in performance, which kind of goes in line as to an overall kind of like thirty to thirty, five percent, total performance gains between the iPhone Tennis Max and the 11pro max.
So, for me, that's a very good increase in performance, but is it worth the update now, if we just take perform, it's aside, don't really consider battery life, or maybe some of the new features that the iPhone 11 Pro max has more specific to the camera. If you just take a look at performance, the upgrade honestly is not that worth it and the a12 by tech tip is you know the fastest chip currently on the market other than the 13 chip. So you know still if you go and pick that chip over you know, let's say an Android device, you're getting faster performance. You know any of the devices with the 12-pounder chip would be a great choice if you don't have the money to upgrade to the newest phone, the iPhone 11 series, where you're, seeing the iPhone, 11:11, Pro and 11 pro max so just with performance. Yes, we're seeing some perfect results here, but in our actual use test we didn't really see much of an increase in performance that hasn't really kind of you know shined out at us just yet in Iowa's 13 at 0.1. Now we didn't actually use tests, as I just said, but it's actually not worth your time.
To be very honest, the test didn't really favor the iPhone 11 Pro max. It actually favored the iPhone 10s max, simply because all the code has been geared towards the iPhone 10s max and the approach. A loving pro max really hasn't gotten that much attention because it just came out so to be very honest, it's a little buggy here on Iowa's 13.1, with this new device and apps just weren't loading as fast as the tennis max. The performance wasn't as great in the actual use performance test, but as a few weeks go on here, we'll do another follow-up test. You know performing actual use, and we'll see if that changes in the near future.
Now, of course, the performance gains are huge if you consider all the new features for the iPhone tennis max, including the large battery life, that this phone gets and also it's coming with fast charging and everything like that. The fast charger hardware I definitely consider upgrading the new colors are absolutely amazing. I love the matte finish on the back, and I'm sure. There's some people out there, some crazy people dropping their photos, showing you exactly how strong it is over the 10s max so guys that was our speed test. Thank you for watching.
