Hello, my friends today we will take a look at iPad. Air 2020, apple's air products are basically supposed to be upper mid-range devices for users who want something that will manage their everyday tasks with ease 4th generation of iPad Air has a couple of surprising features and specs that may even put it above iPad Pro. In some regards in this video, I would like to share my user experience with iPad Air 2020 and maybe help you decide whether you should get one. I played it safe this time and I got space gray version with the largest 256 gigabyte storage. The build quality is basically the same as with iPad Pro. It looks and feels like a very premium product.
As expected, all the machining is flawless. I personally like this flat edge design a lot, and I am glad that the new iPhones use it as well, especially at that 599 dollar starting price point. It is a really nice device. You can only get 10.9 inch version, which is fine by me. The thickness is only 6.1 millimeters. It is almost too thin to be used without a case, but it keeps the thickness manageable with magic keyboard.
So I approve the first very impressive thing about the iPad. Air 2020 is the screen. It uses a 10.9 inch IPS panel with 264 pixels per inch. That is a nice resolution for this type of device. Nobody will complain about visible pixels.
The peak brightness is 500 nits. I also found it to be more than sufficient. Even for HDR content. It is 100 needs dimmer than iPad Pro screen, and it doesn't have 120 hertz refresh rate, but, to be honest, there will be very few occasions where you would even notice the difference it should cover DC ip3 color space, though I think that it is reasonably suitable for photo editing. Overall, I am very impressed by this screen.
It is very suitable for consuming and also creating content. So no complaints here, the biggest surprise, at least for me- is the a14 processor. I expected a12x, and I was hoping for a13, so I'm very delighted by a14. It really is a great piece of silicone. I was trying some pretty difficult tasks on this iPad, such as editing and exporting 200 megapixel stills iPad Air was surprisingly fine with that editing.4K video is also not an issue at all. I use premiere rush and 4k.
Video playback is completely smooth even with power hungry HEC codec, especially if you use adobe products. This will give a lot of powerful mac books run for their money. It only has 4 gigabytes of ram, but so far I didn't come across any task where it would struggle, even if you are using multiple apps. At the same time, it is completely fine loading, the apps opening PDFs, watching 4k content and other basic stuff is a piece of cake for a14. So there is not much to talk about iPad Air also uses a brand-new touch ID sensor integrated in the power button setting it up may be a bit clumsy, but the speed and the sensitivity is nothing short of amazing.
You just need to touch it for a fraction of a second, and it works a hundred percent reliably. It is by far the best fingerprint sensor of any type that I've ever used. Would I still prefer face ID? Yes, that is even more convenient in my opinion, but I am fine with touch ID in this case. Another big upgrade over the previous air and iPhones is the USB connector. That is a much superior standard, and it gives the new iPad Air great options in terms of external storage, displays charging and so on.
It just makes your life with iPad much easier. I will make a separate video about the functionality of USB on iPad Air later on. A very important use of that USB-C connection, for me personally will be external storage. Unfortunately, the biggest storage that you can get with the iPad Air is still 256 gigabytes. That is, in my opinion, a very clear way for apple to say that the air is still below pro.
For most users, it will be enough, but those who want to work with large files will have to use an external SSD besides the iPad Air. I also got myself this magic keyboard. As you probably know, it is outrageously expensive and in my opinion it is also great. The build quality is great, and the typing experience is probably as good as it can be at that size. Both hinges are great.
It has extra USB for charging, so I don't have much to complain about, if you add the price of the magic keyboard to 256 gigabyte iPad Air 1048, for the combination doesn't sound that terrible functionality with a mouse is also quite decent. It helps a lot with photo editing, for example, and it is also useful for basic tasks. Regarding the current state of iPadOS, I would say that it is getting more capable. First, iPad version of safari basically gives you desktop experience that by itself greatly increases the overall usability of any ipad. Os also has a very decent support from app developers, especially if you subscribe to adobe creative cloud.
It is also a great tool for content creators. Other apps, such as suffusion, are also great in combination with a14 files. App also gives you basically the same options to use external hard drives as a desktop computer, so that is not a limitation either. The functionality with external screen still leaves a lot to be desired. I will also make a separate video about that.
Occasionally, you will also come across mainstream apps that are not natively supported, as you can see in this disgraceful example. Overall, I can say that the iPad Air with iPadOS 14.1 is generally a very useful computing device. A lot of people will be able to do everything that they need to do for their work or studying using iPadOS. Only the experience is still different from with a MacBook, but it can get the job done. In the vast majority of situations, the battery life on 2020 iPad Air is excellent.
Apple claims 10 hours of on-screen time, but you can easily get around 12 hours if you use it for basic tasks.20 watt, USB-C, charger and cable are still included in the box. I wasn't able to find out what is the charging speed, but my guess is 30 watts. The camera on the new iPad Air is also very decent. It uses a common 26 millimeter focal length and f 1.8 aperture. This is a very solid camera for a tablet.
It will actually provide similar results as the main camera on iPhone 10s. It is more than sufficient for intended purposes, which is mostly document scanning and similar stuff. There is no ultra white camera, but my personal opinion is that using a tablet for photography in public is not okay, so I don't miss that at all. To sum up, I just have to say that 2020 iPad Air is a great device. In my opinion, the processor and the display are, in my opinion, the most important part of any iPad, and both are great here.
A14 gives the iPad Air an abundance of computing power that makes it very compelling even for professional content, creators and power users. Personally, I prefer this iPad Air over the current iPad Pro just because of that a14, larger storage capacity face id ultrabyte, camera and LIDAR are still reserved for the pro, which is fine. In my opinion, a bit of a disappointment is the lack of u1 chip, which might be useful in the future. Last but not least, the price is, in my opinion, perfect, 599 or 749 for 256 gigabyte versions is, in my opinion, a very good deal, especially with that a14 soc. Overall, I can say that I am very happy with my iPad Air and I can highly recommend it.
