What's up guys, Matthew Mona's here, first and foremost, I just want to apologize for this voice, but I do have an awesome video for you, I'm, comparing the camera King the pixel to XL versus the newly announced Hawaii p20 Pro, with three camera sensors on the back now, which one is actually better you're going to be surprised in the first photo. We have a gloomy day here in Toronto Canada, but right off the bat the pixel to Excel does a much better job of exposing the scene. The p20 pro is just much too heavy in the shadows. If you look at the bottom of the pot, you can't see the details of it, whereas on the pixel 2xl it's a lot more clean, the sky has been completely overexposed on the Huawei P 20 Pro, it's a bit too white. It doesn't look like a sky, and it needs to do a better job of exposing the scene on the pixel to excel. It just looks a lot more natural.
You have a blue tone to it. It just looks like a sky on the next shot. Similar things happen as well on the pixel to excel its much better exposed on the p20. Throw things look very over saturated. Now it's not a nun.
Pleasing photo I like it. It's ready to go on Instagram. If that's your thing, but it does a few things wrong. First and foremost, again, the sky has been completely blown out, and why are the trees purple on the p20 probe? Now these trees are not naturally purple. They look a lot more like the one on the pixel 2x out.
So again, the p20 Pro is having issues determining what object is what and applying the right processing to it. Now in this picture, it's a different day. It's a lot sunnier outside, and you can see with the pixel 2xl again it does a much better job of exposing the photo. The sky looks like a sky, and you can see separation between the clouds' res on the p20 Pro. It's been completely blown out again.
The shadows are much darker on the p20 Pro, which means you're going to lose a lot more detail in those shadows. Also, if you look beside the bench on the left-hand side, you can see the details of the cement on the pixel 2xl, whereas on the p20 Pro again, it's been completely blown out now. Here's interesting when you zoom three to four hundred percent. You can read the number on the house on the right hand, side with a pixel 2xl, whereas on the P 20 Pro, it's completely blurry, which is weird because this camera has a 40 megapixel sensor. Now for this shot, we got up close to a fire hydrant and decided to take a snapshot on the pixel to excel again much better exposure.
Things look a lot more natural, but on the p20 pro totally overexposed. Now, if you look behind the black cap of the fire hydrant, you can see the graffiti on the pixel to excel around the p20 Pro. It's been completely lost. The same holds true with the stick. That's going from the back of the hydrant towards the house.
You can see the shadows on the stick. You can see the details of the stick on the pixel 2xl, but it's been completely lost on the p20 Pro I do like the way the trees look on the p20 Pro I. Like that very punchy. Look, it looks a lot more green and vibrant. But again we have that purple tone on the back of the photo.
If you look towards the archway of the door, you can see more of a purple tone on the p20 Pro compared to the pixel 2 XL. So, for this shot, I actually prefer the picture on the p20 Pro. It's not perfect, but I do like the over saturated look and I love the way the sky looks. Roll has an eye which detects the sky and increases the blueness of the sky. Giving a more appealing look.
You can see the sky perfectly. You can see the little small clouds behind the wires, and they're just a lot more detail, but you do lose some detail again in the highlights. If you look at the board below the two windows on the p20 Pro, you can't see nearly as much detail as you can on the pixel 2 XL I. Also like the way it makes the awning look on the p20 Pro. You see a lot more vibrancy and again.
Huawei goes very hard on the shadows, which I think kind of looks really nice on a bright day like this. So at this photo we also see more inconsistencies with the Harley p20 Pro I do like the overall look, it's very punchy. But again, if you look at the guitar, the highlights have been completely blown out and don't look as detailed as they do on the pixel 2 XL same holds true with the wood pieces going diagonally, the sky is nicer on the p20 Pro. It has a nice blue tone to it. But again you have some that purple hue in the back trees on the left hand, side and again, if you look at the shadows, very black on the p20 Pro, you lose a lot of detail and if you look at the bottom left, you can actually see the wood chips with the pixel 2xl, where they don't exist on the p20 Pro, and this photo I wanted to show the 40 megapixel sensor at work being able to zoom in a lot more and get more detail when you're reading text.
If you zoom it up to the little elephant sign on the p20 Pro, you can read the text a little better than you can to excel, but the picture itself on the p20 Pro has a lot of inconsistencies. The sky has been completely blown out. There's a purple hue in the trees. The shadows are much too dark. Taking away a lot of detail.
If you look at the front fence, you can see the detail in the wood on the pixel 2xl, whereas on the p20 Pro, you can't see it at all. When it comes to nighttime photography, the p20 Pro does a better job in the pixel to excel I. Just think this picture looks a lot more visually appealing: I love the warm tones I like the fact that I can see the sky a little better and even though the shadows are still a bit too dark, they're, not as bad compared to the p20 pros at daylight photos. Looking at these two photos, you would think they were taken at different times of the day, but in fact they were taken within seconds from each other. The p20 Pro shows a lot more detail.
You can see the grass past the sidewalk, and you can see the play structure, whereas on the pixel 2xl, it's way too dark, and you have a hard time making out that play structure. Now, I do like the sky on the pixel 2xl a lot better. It looks blue and there's a lot more details in the clouds. Also, the pixel 2xl does a better job of exposing the lights on the building. I love the orange worm.
Look it has, and it doesn't completely blow them out, whereas on the p20 Pro, the lights are completely blown out. I, don't like the orange tinge on the grass of the front of the pixel 2xl and I. Do like the fact that you can see more with the p20 Pro now it's time to talk about the front-facing cameras, while we p20 provides a 24 megapixel sensor with autofocus and the pixel to Excel has an 8 megapixel sensor, but based on this photo, the pixel 2xl looks a lot more natural. The jacket actually looks black. It doesn't have a blue tone to it.
You can see a lot more detail. You can see the details on my skin and the photo itself has a lot more vibrancy, whereas the p20 pro that beauty mode is kicking in now, you can adjust it to 0 all the way up to 10, but no matter how much you adjust it. It's still there portrait mode on a pixel, 2xl still amazes me. It's doing all of this by using one camera sensor, whereas on the p20 pro you have two camera sensors working together, the pixel to Excel does a much better job of exposing the photo. The side of her face is not blown out like it is on the p20 Pro, there's more dynamic range in her shirt and the colors look a lot more accurate and even the details in the background are more apparent on the pixel 2xl paired to the wall.
EP 20 pro. But if you don't want to use portrait mode on the P, 20 Pro there's another effect called aperture mode and instead of using the two camera sensors, it uses a software effect. Now this is even worse than it was before. The background is slightly more blurred, so the subject pops a little more, but her shirt is completely over saturated. The highlights on the side of her face are completely overexposed, and her lips are much too red.
Next up is 1080p video and both these phones have AIS and oh, is, and, as you can see here, they look pretty good on both phones. The p20 pro does a good job of keeping up to the pixel to excel, but I still think there's a slight edge when it comes to image stabilization with the pixel 2, also, depending on what kind of photo you like. The video on the p20 Pro looks a lot more vibrant and contrast see compared to the more natural look on the pixel 2 XL. But it's when you come to 4k video stabilization, the p20 Pro completely falls apart. Oh is, is no longer used, and you get the worst camera shake possible.
The pixel 2xl, on the other hand, still maintains its smoothness and looks just as good as it does in 1080p, so that pretty much wraps up my camera comparison between the pixel to excel in the hallway p20 Pro, the pixel to excel overall, is still a much better contender. Now, I'm not saying this is a bad camera. It has great cameras on this phone I just think Huawei software is messing up the details and slightly overexposed, sometimes there's a purple hue, and even sometimes the shadows are much too dark. The one area that this does a good job in is night photography. So if you can line up a perfect shot, you'll probably end up looking better on this phone than this one.
When it comes to 4k video stabilization, it just doesn't exist in this phone I think. While we have some work to do with its software, if it can fix that, then I might revisit this down the road.
