Samsung's Galaxy a nine as we know it is an interesting phone aimed at photography enthusiasts with its quad camera setup, but against it today is Hawaii's new Nova for a triple camera, smartphone that holds its own when taking photos so which phone comes out on top and offers better value in a camera. Comparison to begin. Let's take a look at this bridge over the magic area of Shariah. The main difference between the two images is exposure and colors that from Samsung's Galaxy, a nine are considerably better and accurate compared to the washed out colors of the Nova four. If you take a look at the reflection on the building in the background, you can really tell how much better Samsung's Galaxy a nine is, but, on the contrary, here's another image from the nearby area of the skyline, and here the exposure of the Nova four is much improved compared side-by-side. The Galaxy a9 sharpness is also a bit lacking and the Nova four comes out on top here.
The primary reason, though, that I took this picture was to test the wide-angle lenses on both these camera smartphones. I. Think both phones do a great job controlling distortion, but the Nova four has the more natural colors to the photo. There's also, this strange grain to the galaxy, a Nights photo, which is much less evident on the nova fours, seeing both phones have their own color optimizations in software. I thought I'd give this a try with a photo of a plant without any optimizations or AI.
Both photos are good. The galaxy, a9, saturates, the flowers a bit more than reality, whereas the Nova four goes for the paler look with AI as well as scene, optimizer mode enabled. We see the Nova force aggressive AI, which may look good, but it's completely color inaccurate. Compared to this, the galaxy 1/9 enhancement is subtle and is the better of the two photo samples in a similar situation. I also wanted to test the zoom capabilities of both the phones at the regular one time.
Zoom, you can see how different each phone's color profiles are. The most ideal colors in this case would fall somewhere in between both of these photo samples, but at first glance a consumer might prefer the galaxy a Nights poppy colors. Moving into the two time, zoom category on both phones, I, think the clear winner here is the galaxy a9 for the details retained the Nova four image, on the other hand, is just too dark, and finally, here's a look at maximum zoom, which is eight times the galaxy, a nine once again, the galaxy, a nine is doing the better job with detail in the railing as well as in the plants, but the number four has the versatility of being able to zoom in ten times, and here's a side-by-side of that just for comparison. Now, let's take a look at the front facing cameras on both of these phones and right off the bat. The results are nearly identical.
The background in both selfies is blown out, but the skin tones are good from both phones, if anything, the Nova for overly saturates, the grass, in the background, compared to the galaxy, a nine, more neutral, processing with portrait mode enabled both phones beautify the face, but the sharper photo comes from the Nova four. On the contrary, the Nova for struggles a bit with edge detection, most notably on the left side, where my ear is gone missing with the daytime shots over. Let's take a look at some nighttime photos at face value. Neither phone is particularly impressive in this case. Both photos looked a bit hazy, but here the Nova four has the advantage with its nighttime processing and that definitely makes a huge difference in the detail and sharpness of the overall photo.
Here's another shot where I think the Galaxy a9 has done pretty well. The lights as well as the ambience of the scene, is better conveyed on the galaxy, a nine over the Nova four, but with this night mode, the Nova four once again is superior in detail in terms of color accuracy to the Nova. Four has the better overall photo, and then we have this picture of a local mosque. Comparing the regular mode photos, the galaxy a9 is doing the better job once again and with the nighttime mode toggled on the Nova four. It seems in this case that it has over processed the image a bit too much.
While you do get more detail, especially from the background building I, think I still prefer the galaxy a Nights photo in this case. As for the front camera I think the Nova four is much better and natural, with the portrait mode enabled the galaxy a9 shows a bit of sharpness that I preferred over the Nova four, which doesn't do a very good job. Finally, we'll move on to some video samples with Full HD footage. The galaxy a9 is clearly better with its quality and dynamic range. The Nova fours video quality is quite bad compared to the Galaxy a9, but both are on par with stabilization were asked for 4k footage.
Neither phone shows good stabilization, but again the quality from the galaxy a9, as well as its wider field of view on top over the Nova. For here's, a look at full HD video from both of the front-facing cameras on these phones, and you can judge for yourself how the video, as well as the audio, sounds from each of these phones and whether these phones would be a suitable companion for you to vlog or not. So that's about it. For this comparison, let me know what you guys think about the results down in the comments below. Do you want to see any other comparisons in the future?
