Google Pixel 5 - UNDERRATED?! By AltDadTech

This is where YouTube wants me to put a clever intro a hook as they say to get you to stay here. So if you do stay here, I appreciate you and if you can listen, I hate this just as much as you hate hearing it. It's not you it's me, but the YouTube overlords I have to can like share subscribe. But anyway, let's get into the video of uh. Looking at the uh pixel 5 uh, not five Iowa said 5a the pixel 5 5g, simple name, gotta, give them credit in the world of iPhone.12 pro max equals eight minus four m c, squared simple name, but let's get into it. So as stated, let's get into this uh unboxing here I know now listen.

I know I'm late right, I'm late to the game, but anyway uh. I want to check out what it's like to use, not only stock android, but the camera. Now, there's one thing that I think everyone kind of knows is that the pixel line up, regardless of which you know 4a3 listen. My wife has a pixel 4xl. I think we have like a pixel 2 floating around, and those cameras are still insanely awesome, and so I'm curious to see what they've done uh with the pixel 5 here uh, and so you know I, the one thing I want to do is look at this kind of on its own right.

You know I do have the s21 ultra, I might be getting the phone too, so stay tuned for that, and obviously the iPhone here, and you've seen some videos where I've kind of transitioned from you know Apple's ecosystem over to Samsung's, but android overall and in my comparisons of iOS and things that annoy me, which haven't seen those videos check those out. I know some of them are more google related as far as um the things I like, and I know a lot of it was like Samsung oriented, but anyway I want to look at this and again. You know I can do comparisons, but I do want to look at this on its own, because when you compare it to- let's say you know a galaxy s21 ultra, or you know an iPhone 12 Pro max. This thing's, like half the price, I think this is 6.99, and they have deals and carrier stuff, but still like it's its it's cheap is, but by most metrics. I think you guys get what I'm saying here.

So, let's get into this here uh I do like that they have the tabs here. That's very nice. I'm gonna, I'm gonna, put you over here, not that I'll ever use you again, but if I feel like, if I try to throw this you'll see how far it doesn't go and then be like. What's going on um, so 5g team pixel, I do like they do the whole team thing uh, but let's get into this and again I kind of want to see what uh what stock android is like. I know a lot of people are gunshot for that, and I'm curious to see what that at first I thought that was a camera bump, and I'm like what reviews have I been watching because I didn't know it was the Xiaomi 11 ultra, whatever the one looks like a cyber cyborg looking at you but other than that, pretty simple box um.

Now, let's get to the phone uh, they only had black, where I was able to get this. So I picked that up because you know um, I like it. Black is always stealthy, and I like the color- and this is light AF. That's the first thing I noticed, and again I don't wanna. I don't wanna.

Do comparisons like right now, right away, but having used the 12 pro max and the s21 ultra now this is lighter. Granted, it's definitely packing less, like tech in there. I guess if you want to say that right, like you, have the big camera lens on this one, so the batteries beefy uh, but this is kind of nice to hold in the hands I'll, give them credit, and I like the textured back, and I adore the fingerprint scanner. If you've seen my videos, even the in-display ones, I don't care, I prefer it over face scanning uh, but let's get into this camera I'll make some chills. I'm excited to try this out um anyway.

Let's just get this little starchy thing off the front. Nothing too crazy. There uh, you guys, have seen a million of these I'm sure um. Although I didn't use to do like the colored google logo, maybe they don't do that. Maybe it does a brand skin.

Don't worry, no sponsor segues in here that are cheesy. Well, you probably knew that wasn't happening uh, but anyway I like that fingerprints. Oh this, you know what this reminds me of, and I might get hate for this um like a nexus like a nexus 5. Just in today's you know chassis. I, like that, a lot um and then the chrome button.

I thought it was white, maybe I missed out on that. Maybe another one of the phones had a white power button uh. But let's get into this more. You get this uh nice handy little piece of recycling uh, and then we get here. Let's see what this says here as Flossie would say: he plucks them, and he files them to the side.

Nae. Here we open them gracefully and then we file them to the side. So just in case you don't know how chargers work. This is for you uh nice, to see that a sim tool, which is great because I do actually want to put one of my one of my sim cards in here, which I know I make fun of a lot because I'm like people, don't have multiple sim cards, but here I am pot kettle anyway. Oh, look at this.

What are this guys? We get chargers these days. Um. I wonder what output this is. I'm betting, it's probably 18 to 25 or within that ballpark uh. Furthermore, I don't know.

Furthermore, I don't know. Furthermore, I don't know. Let me center this better because you guys don't care about my hands. I don't know what this is. You guys might.

Let me know, I'm sure it's power, delivery, USB standard. I do like the cables they give you they're nice um they're. They have the rubbery texture as they say, so I'm a fan of that um. Let's see here rip this off, I'm going full floss, even though this is something a five-year-old should be able to do quicker than I can. But I do like that.

It's type c, if you've seen my videos, I've ranted, about apples, sticking to lightning, and it's beyond the point of like well, you know they're going to transition to a portlets, I'm like oh wow, how convenient, let's skip out on a port that everyone's been using for years in an effort to make something more inconvenient, that's that's innovative and then the OTG adapter, which is planted very swimmingly in there. I don't really use these, but they're nice to have, and I think that is it you get kind of like a little hug. If you see this little hug saying thank you for buying this um and I did buy some of my own money. Listen, I don't think you saw my channel and, let's be honest, thought! Oh, he must be sponsored, hey, listen if you want to that's cool, but I'll, probably be freaking out calling my mom um, but anyway, let's get well. You know I'm going to put the sim card in I'm not going to make this longer than I have to I'm not going to squeeze an ad in there on you, we're just going to we're going to raw ROG this, and you know, that's why I should stick to scripts because I say stupid stuff, like that uh sim card, a salt as uh philosophy says I don't know why he's on my mind, man, I love that the style videos he does and um.

Not you know, what's ironic, is the table here. Is it almost seems inspired by him and shout out to Kevin the tech ninja his uh? His wife makes him killer some killer designs. If you guys need a table like this, for whatever definitely check that out and message him or whatever. If he's, okay with that um, let's get this, I'm so bad at this, I'm like a caveman like GEICO there we go all right. Let's boo, it's so light, I'm so used to these mammoth phones.

You know which I am I do like right like I, you know what's crazy. I know that like people complain about phone calls, but I think it'd be sweet if, like Google just went nuts like listen like other companies are doing it right. Samsung has the fold too, which I want to get so bad um. Other companies have this kind of luxury, high high-end phones, and I want to see what google could do. You know like.

I understand that you know. Maybe they had a hard time punching at that weight coming out of the gate, but it'd be cool. Can you imagine if Google was like you know, we're going to do we're going to have a 5 000 William hour battery we're gonna, have type c we're going to have all the camera lenses that we possibly can, we're gonna, throw in a snapdragon 888 we're gonna? Do all that stuff. Granted yeah it's going to be expensive, but I still think it'd be cool to at least you know see what that would look like uh, and I'm excited that this year, there's a potential rumor of the next pixel having a soc designed by them. Also, the pixel watch like dude.

You know many people. I've talked to that aren't even that, like tech enthusiasts and like I would, I would consider a pixel one because of the photos and everyone uses google stuff for the most part and then two uh well really the watch right. That's a big thing for people, even Samsung watches are killer, and so I think if Google can nail the execution of a pixel branded, watch, hey man, I'm all in um, but anyway yeah we got a start screen in English, oh boy, this is fun stuff, guys, English vision, settings. Lets uh! Oh man, you guys say I'm listen. I don't even worry about my network, we'll do the five gig, and we'll do.

Let's see, how do you forget the password you guys uh? Oh it's, my daughter in life. What did I do? One two, three yeah! You read that right, I'm like Michael Scott type in password, and you'll get in um, but you know I'm like in the design. I didn't even know that was stuck to me uh, getting your phone ready. I like this. Furthermore, I, like type c, I'm curious to see really the camera man and I think, Google's done a solid job of making that the focal point of their phones, no pun, intended.

It's just focusing on the images you know forget the specs forget all of that. What's the photo look like right, because if we were to hand you two, if we were to show you two photos- and I said one was taking on a thousand megapixel whatever and had all this kind of the jargon tied to it. And then you know one was hey: it's just a single lens or hey. It's this! It's an older sensor. Whatever, like you, you would probably go.

Oh, the one with the higher number is going to win, and I think google's done an excellent job of at least with photos proving that that's not necessarily true um, and so I'm definitely I'm definitely curious to see how this stacks up. I don't know, should I wait. Should I listen if you're not new here or if you are new here, I free all my videos right, I don't uh, I don't. I don't write scripts because I feel like I'm, I'm a peacock, you have to. Let me fly uh here we go copy apps.

Let's do don't copy. I want to get a feel for just how the UI is now. I know what stock android and I know for my Samsung fans, I'm with you there's like pros and cons to both. I feel like with Samsung you just get so many more software features that again aren't in your face per se um, so you don't have to use them like touch wiz. In the olden days they were just like pop up after pop-up after pop-up uh.

Let's do um we'll set it up under the uh, the old duck. Gmail. Now you guys can email me. Please don't send me spam. Actually, if you have funny gifts I'll, I love that uh.

Oh man, you know what I'll uh, oh, I can skip. Okay, let's get it's probably gonna. Tell me: why would you skip? If you need to phone that bad, you rock out with it uh I've also got the fingerprint scanner. Oh, I love them. So much like you know, that's the one thing I never understood. I'm like these are always quicker like. I know that face ID and face gaining in, like the future of biometrics is fun to talk about in theory, but at the end of the holy cow day T-Mobile.

Why does it want? Oh well, yeah, you know what lets uh, let's skip. I like that too, by the way for setup. I like this is the unbranded unlocked model, but I do like when carriers, they kind of, let you uh decide prior, and they don't just have like Candy Crush saga embedded into the home screen. Um, their carriers are getting better, but they're still they need to. They need to stop that who's using dz navigator anymore.

Listen I'll! Tell you what whoever did is lost forever they're, not coming back anywhere uh. Let's do let's do light mode, uh, for all intents and purposes, next yeah. I can figure this stuff out. Mr uh ask your assistant, oh wow, that was nice. I got a little chime, um, oh, and look at these pebbles.

That's cool! Welcome to your new pixel, so I'm sure there's updates and stuff. Let me uh. Let me set this up and again. Let me know in the video uh what kind of what kind of video you want to see uh. What are you curious from again? I know they'll probably be requests for comparison.

So that's when we'll turn the 12 pro max um and I certainly think that's a good comparison, at least from the camera perspective, but that to me speaks volumes of google right if they're, if they're able to be in that same conversation at 600 700, and these other phones are 1200, you know whatever dollars. Hey man: let's, let's see what happens because the good thing about that is, it makes Samsung. It makes apple all those companies that are able to sell those premium prices uh and have that large audience if they can be in that same conversation for 6.99, hey, that's pretty compelling, especially with OnePlus doing whatever the heck it is that they're doing uh, you know we'll make these comparisons, and we'll get to it. But anyway, guys thanks for checking the video out and again listen. I know I said I wouldn't do it and I didn't want to, but if you made it this far, I feel like I need to.
