Google Pixel 4 - Worth it in 2021? (Real World Review)

This is the ultimate question: what phone should I buy? Not everyone has a thousand dollars to spend on a phone, but at less than four hundred dollars. This might be a good option. However, it wouldn't be a pixel phone if there weren't some downsides. So, let's talk about it. Should you buy the Google Pixel 4 in 2021, hello, everyone? This is Matt from real world review and, yes, it is raining outside check out the social media listed above. If you want to talk tech and subscribe, if you want to continue watching tech, let's get started, the screen is actually really nice.

This is a 5.7 inch flat, 1080p flexible OLED, with a pixel density of 444 pixels per inch. Even with that 1080p resolution, the screen actually looks really nice. I honestly forgot it wasn't even a 2k screen. Also, the screen does have a 90hz refresh rate, which makes everything look a little smoother and feel faster. There is a small chin on the bottom, which is weird to me because on the top it does have a forehead.

It is a little stuff like this. That makes the rest of the screen kind of makes sense, but it's also kind of the downsides. If you think about it with this said, I really didn't have too many issues with this design, but for some reason it does seem a little small. This is coming from someone who has no issue with the iPhone 12 mini size. So I don't know its just kind of weird.

The screen is just too small. For me, we get the normal stuff like tapped, awake in the always on display, which has become a pixel staple. Personally, I have no issue with the brightness, even though it only hits about 450 nits, which is something that even the iPhone 5 beats still. This is brighter than the pixel 3. So I guess that's something.

Overall, I don't have any issues with the screen, giving me nice and vibrant images, regardless of the scene. Personally, I love this design, but I do wish that the front was almost all screen similar to the Pixel 4a. The reason we don't get a full screen is because the sole radar system at the top- this is used for facial recognition and motion sense, which is something that I went over in the Pixel 4 XL review. But ultimately it gives you 3d face, unlock and a hands-free way to change music, the latter being way more gimmicky than useful, something that is nice is the speaker in this area, giving a stereo sound, not as nice as having two front-facing speakers, but I'll take it. Then we have the metal frame in the middle, and this is the last pixel series, with the squeeze feature allowing you to trigger the assistant by simply squeezing your phone gimmicky also.

But I do miss this feature when I'm using other phones, then the back is a glossy or matte glass, depending on the color that you choose with a simple camera box and the g logo, because the back is glass. Google gave us wireless charging again as well as water resistance. Speaking of the charging, you get an USB 3.1 port on the bottom for 18 watt charging, which seems kind of low, but it's perfect for the small 2 800 William battery the battery isn't the best and honestly one of the biggest downsides of this phone. This is also because of the power in this phone. This phone has a snapdragon 855 chips, which is plenty powerful, but, along with that six gigabytes of ram, this makes lasting the whole day kind of difficult on this phone.

Even the geek bench 4 battery test isn't that good and this battery isn't even a year and a half old yet and no, the screen refresh rate doesn't really change too much of those results. As for the cameras, let's talk about them. I'll talk about the good here, and I'll talk about the bad. In a few minutes as expected, when shooting with this camera, you won't run into any issues when it comes to simply pointing and shooting the main sensor is a 12 megapixel Sony sensor, which google has pretty much perfected with software. This is one of the biggest reasons to stick with pixel devices, because whether we're taking portrait or regular shots, everything just comes out looking spectacular, whether it's day or night.

This is something you should know by now, but with the said, this camera setup isn't even close to perfect, at least in my eyes like I said this wouldn't be a pixel phone without some downsides continuing with the camera. Let's talk about the other sensors, something that you'll notice is that you don't get the same quality or even the same color with the 16 megapixel telephoto sensor when compared to the standard, 12 megapixel one still looks good, but sometimes you can tell the difference. Then the front camera is a downgrade from the pixel 3. In a few reasons, even ignoring the emission of the wide-angle sensor, this front camera is an 8 megapixel, fixed focus camera. The focusing aspect is what makes the pixel 3 still my favorite front camera to this day, then, when it comes to video, the front is capped at 1080p 30 frames per second, which is fine and somewhat normal, but the rear camera is capped at 4k.30 frames per second video. This may not seem like a big issue, but the 4k 30 frames per second video is kind of choppy, making 60 frames per second video, highly recommended, but not possible on this phone.

There are claims that it's because of the 64 gigabyte or 128 gigabyte max storage, but that isn't really a good excuse for me really. Once you look into this phone, you start to see all the confusing corners that were cut for this phone now. Should you buy this phone? Maybe really my issues with this phone are the battery and the video recording options, so it might not even be that big of a deal for most the best parts of the pixel 4 is the software in the camera, which works well for most consumers, obviously assuming that you're using this phone for normal usage and not anything too crazy. It is kind of funny, though, that I was sort of in a rush to review this phone, but I used this phone for over a month before I started the review process. I don't know: pixel phones are just that good.

I guess and that's my review of the pixel 4, the best bad pixel. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments section below and as always, thanks for watching.
