This is the Google Pixel for I was sent it to review from Google very surprised about that quite honestly and did not expect it. So this is the base pixel for which is the flagship model before Google is also the XL, which is a little bigger, but we got this particular version does come in a very nice standard sort of foam box, very reminiscent of what we get with iPhone when it releases new phones, very Google, showcased and, of course, a very Google centric phone running off the Android operating system, cool, so I know people like a sort of unboxing when they get this sort of things in these videos, so we opened it up. I will mention that I will be showing pictures that I have taken with the phone over the last couple of weeks, while I've been reviewing. It just shows off different kinds of you know the resolution night mode. Everything like that, so you can ID I, think so this kind of holds the phone just a little plastic covering on top of that get a little pamphlet comes in like this. You get a power kind of Airy on the bottom, and then you get that take this off the pamphlet, the info sheet and that's kind of where everything rests inside the actual packaging for the phone.
So it's very compact easygoing and makes perfect sense for what this, and it provides box, wise cool. So inside the box you get this really. Strangely large power, the USB is the type that is used here. You also get this converter here, so it's a traditional USP there, and then you get decently lengthy sort of USB-C double cord. It's a bit weird though it doesn't come with a traditional USB plug in, so you actually have to get that separately.
If you want to be able to stay plugging into computer and order transfer things I found that a bit strange, that they couldn't have included that, but it's alright I, suppose that's not really what they're trying to showcase with this particular phone that wants to be its own entity and not have to plug into things in order to be accessed. I was also given a case to use with it. So this is like sort of I guess an official google type case. It's really nice I personally, don't use cases with my phones, I know living dangerously, but yeah. If you are looking for this as an extra sort of accessory for it, it's really nice cool fabric holds the phone very well and is obviously you know I've set and designed to work exactly wealthy pixel.
For so now we go up onto the actual phone itself. As you can see, it is very much a regular phone being a flagship. This is sort of the top as to say what Google is providing phone wise. Obviously they know, there's also the Excel. If that's your sort of thing, the bigger screen I.
Quite like this, if it's comfortable fits well in my hand, it's very interesting there's a neat feature where you kind of squeeze it, and you can set the squeeze, and it pulls up a Google system. So I think that's a really neat feature. It should also be noted that the sides contain a bit of a grip to it, which is different because they used to very smooth sort of just you know, really slick phones, and this one has like a grip on the side which I initially was liking it, but it actually helps for holding your phone and keeping a better grip on it, especially in the same colder climate like the one that I recited. So that's quite nice, as you can see, with the casing, we've got a white back in here, the camera at the top for pictures, and again we'll be showing just occasional shots of what I've taken right off the phone without any edits, or anything like that. So we get here is a 5.7-inch screen. It is FHD flexible, and it is a 20 to 80 by 1080 OLED 444 p.
I screen. It contains a 90 Hertz, which is actually really cool. So that's kind of frustrating or anything like that. So really, really smooth picture. There's HDR, and it comes in three main colors.
You get just black, clearly white and oh so orange. This was taken right from the site. So I guess those are the color choices that are available like I, don't mind the white I think it's something that would normally get kind of like a little dirty tech wise, but it seems to have been pretty clean in the time that I've actually had it and used it quite a bit. So that's nice, so there's no double vision, support which I didn't quite expect, and I just want to mention before we really dive further into things that, with this being priced a little differently, it's not exactly fair to compare it to the models of the know: the iPhone 11 or the latest Samsung Galaxy S 10, just in regard to features because there is quite a difference in pricing, so do keep that we are going over features and expectations for this particular phone that it does fall into more of a seriously a high but affordable price range for what this does actually provide. So here we get 162 grams of weight, so it's really light very comfortable.
There's a 2800 mAh battery, so that could have been a bit better. You do notice it, but it still gets you through the day. Fine shouldn't be an issue still at the same time, I believe the phones should be pushing the battery technology a bit more with capacity. This is even a little lower of MMH. That's just your capacity! So basically how long you can go on it.
Yeah! That's the thing right is that even my older iPhone model still has a better battery option that is available for it yeah. If that's something that's important to you, you might want to take that into consideration with this particular version. I will also note that it's cool that you can slide to the side, and you can actually pull up like a Google search and there's like Google News and information there, so I think that's pretty cool for people that are, you know needing to have that information right away. They definitely do integrate the Google aspects to it. So there's 81 fast charging in this there's QI charging, which is basically wireless charging, so you can place them on your charging mats and everything like that.
That I'm sure lots of people actually now use, so that should be fairly commonplace. I think feature wives, USB CTE charger, which we showed before this has 6 gigabytes of RAM, with a 64 or 120 gigabytes, 128 gigabyte storage, option, which is available again fairly kind of standard I wish the know the memory space was, but it was a bit more for internal, but they do try to promote you to use the Google Drive. Everything like that that is integrated into the system, because you know Google on Google right when it comes to the sound. This is perfect. It's really nice and loud.
It's very clear. Furthermore, it gets all little Tings out there, and it really is a good model in regard to music or just listening to things to games, or you know videos. So you also have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 5, that's 2.8, or she heard plus 1.7 a 64-bit outscore. So it actually is really fast and runs things well. I played a number of games on it.
I was playing Call of Duty, mobile, pop G, mobile and Minecraft. My main testing games at this point was running. Top settings wasn't having any issues want very well in the game, so they're not as a local or online multiplayer environment. So gaming is very important for me because you know I played a lot of games and that's one thing: I always check when I look at phones, this, like whether I can play on the go, which is becoming more and more common I think over the years, or it just is common. Now let's be real if you're playing games anywhere is just the thing, so this will actually be really cool for sort of Xbox game streaming.
I think down the road there's also Google Stadia they're kind of works with this I didn't get to try that, obviously, but you know, and just trying to give you an idea of being able to use as a streaming platform, it really is well set for that expression, but the 90 Hertz that is available, so we're gonna, move on to the camera now, which is something that I use quite a bit of there are some things that are really cool on this and some features that I wish work better. So on the rear, we're getting a 16 megapixel, 2.4 aperture with a 52 degree field of view and then on the front, we're getting 8 megapixels of 2.0 aperture a 90 degree field of view on the rear, we're only getting a maximum recording lights of 4k 30fps. To me, that's really disappointing kind of unacceptable I believe the iPhone SE II, which is what my one of my family members, has, could do.4K 13's from years back I know, there's like a statement out there in regard to Google. You know they're not really pushing that, but as a creator, and just as generally someone where it's like I want to be able to use my phone and kind of record the best video available is everything like that. You know long-term.
Furthermore, you want your video to look perfect. Looking back on, you know in the future, so 60fps really should have been the target, at least on the back one. So I'm really disappointed about that aspect. You can get 1080 at 120 FPS, so that's good, but at the same time 4k 60 has been kind of standard over the last couple of years for phone. So it's really disappointing that this couldn't achieve that on the front.
It's also locked at 10 e FPS for recording off the front camera. So that's also disappointing. So, while the camera is really great on this, it comes with a ton of neat features and interesting things that you can do with it. The deal wise it really just kind of underperforms. In my opinion, it doesn't deliver what I was hoping for.
Video content by camera, wise great pictures, cool effects, there's a night sight mode where you're, basically somehow making like night look like day, I'm guessing and I. Don't know that's technology exactly you actually have to like you, click and you kind of hold your phone stead. You don't have like keep holding you just kind of hold it steadies, and I'm guessing it captures light over a variation of time and that's how they're actually able to create these gorgeous almost day. Looking, but still nighttime, photos and I. Think that's a really cool sort of post-processing fact that they're applying in order to achieve that there's also a great portrait mode, I, absolutely loved it.
The blur effects were just sort of subtle in the background, and they really did highlight the face and kind of push you out forward generally great pictures on this, especially like the white balance and because I'm you know what taking a lot of snow fixtures, because it's my turn snowy right now, and I think it really delivered some quality photos that I really was happy with that took some nature and a little of building type pictures too, and I hope you've been seeing those throughout this. So video wise, I wish they would aim higher 60fps. At least it should be a target, and hopefully they achieve that. Maybe in the next iteration of Google Pixel will be so cool to check out more of us down the line, as I really have been quite enjoying this phone. So there are three microphones.
So that's really great I love to see that included more microphones, the better for capturing audio quality. There is nobility apples as far as I'm aware with this one. So that's a bit disappointing is that as it's quite standard these days, I think on phones, devices audio all over the place. There's Google system like I, mentioned that's integrated right in as is expected because it is a Google phone, there's, also quick Cheshire's, which is an interesting change up. So there are a number of sensors present, there's active edge list, processing mini there's ambiance like sensor accelerometer, a gyro meter, magnetometer and a barometer so moving past that we've obviously got Wi-Fi Google cast support and Bluetooth 5.0 oil. That was pretty cool, that chrome, wise, I, could kind of well just in general, like actually cast of this, so that was kind of neat.
So those are the main feature of the Google pizza Fleur I, quite like using this phone I. Think it's very efficient and very well done for the price range it actually does deliver a very quality sort of design feature wise. It is a bit behind its competitors, but then it sort of makes up for that with the price range that it comes in at. In my opinion, I don't usually count price in regard to reviewing products as much as other people probably do. But you have to keep in mind when you are making these comparisons or flagship phones.
Where actually lies on the scale, because the iPhone 11 and the Samsung S 10, which I think are fair comparisons, is they are the flagship from other companies do come in at a much higher price point than these do so. Obviously there is a range here, but if, as the base, one just doing straight price comparison, I think it does deliver adequate features, what it provides, it's a perfect phone. If this is something that you're looking for I, think it's very well done, it looks clean. It feels nice to hold it's very comfortable. It's a good size, it's a good viewing.
You know kind of angle and quality to it. The screen looks perfect. It does pack a number of interesting, unique features and I think it really does use the actual Android operating system a bit better than other Android phones, I've used over the years, and they've just done a perfect job sort of making it clean, making it sleek making it work very well. So yeah, great camera video features a bit lacking its lacking in some areas, but it does actually have perfect quality to it. It's snappy with the operating system it plays the games that I desire to play looks good.
It sounds great audio wise wish. Furthermore, it did have they'll be animals, but what can you do? I give this an 8 out of 10. You read my full review in the description below. If you do have any questions about the phone, let me know, but I think I've covered most of the key elements of what this provides and what it has going on for it.
