Google Pixel 3a XL - Unboxing and First Impressions (Black) By Kevin Breeze

Hey everyone- this is Kevin here and I- just got this package in the mail from Team pixel, so I'm really excited to show you what's inside. So let's check it out, so I have a strong feeling that there's a pixel, 3a or Pixel 3a XL in this box. However, I really don't have any idea of what all is in here. So let's open up the lid and see what's inside, so it looks like I got a bunch of goodies from Google, so I got 18 pixel branded pop socket 18 pixel bags with the Google logo. On the other side, there's a Pixel 3a XL case, and we have the black Google Pixel 3a XL. So I'm really excited that Google decided to include me as part of Team pixel and I can't wait to try out this device.

I've actually never used a Google Pixel device. Before, however, I've heard great things about them, and one of the cool things about the Google Pixel 3a XL is that it comes in at an affordable price tag of 479 99. So on the front we have a picture of the actual device itself, which is the black color and then on the back side of the box. We have a picture of the phone on a table here then, on the right side of the box, we have a picture of the side profile of the phone and on the other side, it just says Google. So let's pull the sticker tabs off here and get further into the box.

Let's lift the lid, and the first thing here is the actual phone itself. So we'll peel this open. Take the plastic off of the display, and here is the phone now we'll turn this on and well that's booting up. Let's see what else is included in the box, so we get a packet here with instructions on how to install the SIM card. We get a pixel user guide, we get a Google sticker and 18 pixel stickers and some safety information.

We have a USB-C wall adapter and the double-sided USB cable for charging and data transfer. Furthermore, we also have an adapter here, so you can plug in a full sized USB device into the phone. So you might want to use this if you're going to connect a mouse or maybe a full sized hard drive to the. Maybe you want to watch movies from that hard drive on your device. You can do that with that adapter.

Now we're on the start screen here. I'm going to go ahead and put in all my information and install my sim card now, it's cool is that this phone actually has a sim technology built into it. So if you want to, you can actually connect to Google Phi by using a sim free setup. So that's really awesome. Now I'm actually going to be putting my cricket SIM card into this phone and using that, but if I wanted to, I can easily set this phone up with Google Phi by using the e sim.

Now that I've installed my sim card I'm, not going to connect to my Wi-Fi network now I'm going to set up my fingerprint I have to start by making a pin code, and now it is set up the fingerprint I. Just have to rest my finger on this fingerprint sensor and that's getting set up right now. There we go I'm all good to go. The fingerprint has now been added now if I want to I can add a fingerprint, whether that's mine or somebody else's, but for now I'm good with one fingerprint, ok, and now we're on the home screen of the device. So there are some applications installing right now, in the background, just some system apps that are updating, but so far everything looks really cool.

Now this phone does have gestures as the default, which is really awesome. So if you swipe up partially, you can access the applications that are running in the background and if you swipe up even further, you can see all of your different applications, but I'll tell you what the experience here is super smooth. It just feels really nice and refined, and you can tell the software- is extremely optimized for this hardware. Now the device features a 6-inch display coming in at 1080p. It has an 18 by 9 aspect ratio, as you can see up top here.

There is no notch, so it has kind of a more traditional style here, there's also a decently sized bezel on the bottom, as well as the top. However, I think the phone itself looks very stylish, nice and modern I, especially like how large this display is, and the actual display itself just looks really nice and cleared now. I do have a bunch of different wallpapers pre-installed here. There are different pictures of landscapes, textures life, Earth, art, cityscapes, geometric, keep looking solid, colors and seascapes. Now my personal favorite is the geometric shapes, and you can see there's a variety of different geometric shapes here to choose from, so that looks really cool and unique.

Now the front-facing camera on the top, there are 8 megapixels on the back side. Here we have a 12 point, two megapixel rear facing camera. Now you do get portrait mode and all of those benefits, even though there is just one camera here we also they flash and, of course, the fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is really quick. You literally just have to rest.

Your finger on the back and the device will immediately unlock. I am really excited to test out the cameras on this device, as I know that pixel phones have a great reputation for good photo and video quality. Now this device is 4 gigabytes of RAM, it has 64 gigabytes of internal storage, and it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor. Now, unfortunately, you cannot expand the storage on here with the micro SD card, as there's only a slot for the SIM card. Video recording maxes out at 4k at 30 frames per second, which is great to see this device features a three thousand seven hundred million power internal battery, and it runs Android, nine pi and, as I mentioned before, the device is super, quick and very optimized to run Android very well, so you're, probably not gonna, find a better device to run stock Android than a pixel device.

So we already went over the front here. It has a 1080p display 18 by 9 ratio coming in at 6 inches, then, on the right side, we have the power button and volume rocker. On the left side. We just have the slot for the SIM card. On the top side, we have a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack, which is great to see on the bottom. We have the speaker, microphone and USB type-c port.

Then, on the back side, we have that 12.2 megapixel, rear-facing camera, the flash and the fingerprint sensor. Now, despite this phone being made out of plastic, it still feels really premium, and it also looks stylish and honestly, once you put a case on this phone, it wouldn't really even matter what the material is on the back as you're going to be looking at the case anyway. Now one thing, I notice, that's a bit unfortunate- is that the Google Pixel 3 AXL does not have wireless charging and that's a feature that I liked a lot. So I really wish it did have wireless charging. Now, let's also take a look at this case that Google sent me we're going to cut through the tape on the back here.

We're gonna pull out the sleeve, and here is the case itself now. This is a unique looking case. This case has a cloth material here on the outside. It has a kind of like a highlighter yellow, colored power button here. The volume rockers are also covered in the cloth, and this is just very interesting.

I've, never really used a case or felt case made out of this material, then, on the inside it says Google, Pixel 3a and has a nice felt material. So that's nice, though, because you won't have to worry about the phone game scratched because it'll be in contact with the felt now, let's put the phone into the case, and that was super easy to install. You still get convenient access to the USB-C port on the bottom, as well as the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack on the top. There's also a little of a lip to this case, so that, if you happen to lay the phone face flat, or you drop it face down, it won't have contact with whatever surface it. Lands on the volume rockers are really easy to adjust with this case, as well as the power button.

Now, there's a couple of other interesting things that I noticed about this phone as I've had a chance to use it for a little. Now there is no face unlock, so that's unfortunate, so the only way that you can unlock this is with a pin code or a swipe gesture or with the fingerprint sensor on the back. Now, that's not necessarily a big deal, but if face unlock is a feature that you really like, then just know that you can't find it on the Google Pixel 3 AXL now. Another cool feature is that, if you're, a big fan of Google Assistant, all you have to do is squeeze the bottom of the device and Google Assistant will appear what's the weather like in Los Angeles, so that is very convenient to have that squeezing feature on the bottom here in order to trigger Google Assistant, so I hope you enjoyed this unboxing first impressions, video of the Google Pixel 3 AXL again I would like to thank Team, pixel and Google for being kind enough to send this device out to me.
