Okay guys so here's what we're going to do I want to take photos and videos using all the lenses and modes available in the galaxy s xx, and I'll, try and involve you in the entire process so that you can experience the camera as realistically as possible. All photos and videos will be made available for you to download. You can judge the quality on your own and the first things we are doing already is shooting this video using the front-facing camera on the galaxy s, 20 I'm, shooting at 1080p I mean I, can shoot at 4k also because there's that option, but you're, probably watching this on a 1080p screen. So it makes no sense for me to do that, and now you know what let me just make it a little more interesting. Let's go into life focus video mode. Now this is a pretty interesting mode, because it's sort of blurs everything in the background and keeps the person the subject in focus I think that's pretty cool, can't think of a use case really, but if in case it's something you want to use, it's probably there.
But there are a couple of effects that you can use. So let me just try this out real, quick, okay. So there is this: it's a pretty silly one I mean I, don't know under what circumstances you would use this one. It's not even that accurate, but here this is an effect that I really like. So everything is sort of black and white, and I'm the one in color I.
Don't know how it's working out now, because I'm in some shade but yeah again, it's there and then there's this twitchy, glitchy effect, which I think is pretty Trippe, and now they're going to zoom past all of this and get to a better looking scores where we can. You know, take some period pictures so that by the way was a hyperlapse video that I shot using the galaxy s 20 couple of things: I'm, not using any third-party microphone I'm using the microphone that's built into the phone, so you have again as realistic an experience as possible, and I am using a gimbals right now. The idea is to showcase the quality to you and not the stability, but I'll do a stability test a little later, so you will see that also it's a pretty hot day to be doing. This I did not know that do subscribe to my channel I did put in a lot of effort for this. Also, it has gotten a little windy, so it's that sort of plays with the microphone you bear with it anyway, I'm just finding a spot, so we can start taking some photos but the regular 12 megapixel primary lens, and then we'll go to the ultra-wide and then to the light, focus the portrait shots, and then we'll do some videos.
Okay, that's the plan, so I'm just going to find some shots. I'll share that with you. Alright, so that's a pretty cool shot, I think it's called shadows. It's got greenery, it's got the sky. One thing that I do want to talk about is this right over here? If you see I'm on the regular 12 megapixel mode and not in the sixty-four megapixel mode, which is this okay, we're going to talk about that? A little later, but first primary lens child megapixels there we go and that I think is a great picture.
First, it applied HDR automatically, so the sky is not white, it's blue and then there's still great color balance with the greens. The same applies to this picture as well. You know the sky retains its color, while the ground retains its own color, and I'm really impressed how Diaz 20 is able to manage color exposure and white balance to get that natural look, irrespective of whether it's outdoors or indoors, and it really balances outdoor light very well to adjust for getting these really natural-looking photos. I. Remember how Samsung cameras used to take really saturated photos, high contrast, and I'm really glad that they've toned that down in their software to get to natural-looking pictures.
Now this one's a primary lens, and now that is what I took using the ultra-wide primary ultra-wide and again, let me just give you another example: that's primary and that is ultra-wide and very interestingly, the ultra-wide lens actually has a better dynamic range. Look at this photo look at the shadow and how dark it is on the ultra-wide lens on the right as compared to the light shadow on the primary lens on the left. Maybe in this picture it did not do a great job, because the primary lens captured the whites, the shadows and the blue of the sky very well overall, a better dynamic range in the primary lens here, but in this one again, I think the ultra-wide has shown better dynamic range because the stone has more detail and just more information. The dark parts are lit better and yeah. Overall lighting, the dynamic range worked out here in favor of the ultra-wide lens.
Alright, we've taken shots using the primary lens and the ultra-wide lens, but there is a light focus mode for portrait shots, but there aren't enough opportunities here for me to take those shots. But I did take some earlier yesterday and here they are and as you'd expect, these shots will also quiet nice. You know the edge detection and the separation between background and foreground is pretty good, except for the picture on the right side. Where it had some trouble getting that chain and to focus, but otherwise I think it really does a fabulous job. The separation between the background and foreground is epic and even in low-light, so this was shot at 9:30 in the night, and you can see that even with less lighting I did a phenomenal job at the start of the video we used live focus on the front camera and I said: there's a similar light focus video option on the rear camera as well.
So I did do a video quickly on that mode as well. So here it is now. Let's talk about video, and I'm gonna start shooting some 1080p videos in 30fps. Why 1080p is because you're, probably watching it or not, LED TV screen, 4k videos and 8k videos can be shot using the galaxy s 20, but you're going to need a 4k or 8k playback, monitor or screen or TV, which you probably won't have instant, ATP and 30fps, because the entire video is shot in 30fps. So it just makes more sense for me all right.
So, let's get on with it and now, let's talk about it, gave videos sure you can shoot them on this phone. But where are you going to play them back? You're going to need a 8k display for that which you probably wouldn't have now the 8k videos are the most useful. When you play them back, you can actually extract images out of them. So here's what I mean this is a 8k videos. If I show you, you will see that it's 76 80 by 4320.
Let me play this, and you know: let's stop this video out of specific okay. Let's say that there is this aircraft that's going by right, and maybe you want to take a shot of this just tap on this icon on the left corner. That shows an image when you do that it actually takes a snap, and you can click on it and that's pretty much a good quality photo right so, and you can look at the details of this picture, it's as high quality as it can be. So this is totally usable and that's the whole beauty of 8k videos. You can just stop any moment in the video and make a photograph out of it, and now what's left is difference between a regular video and a steady shot video.
So a video that's shot in steady mode. The only thing is that the regular video is shot using the regular lens and the steady mode video is shot using the ultra-wide lens, so it's slightly lower in quality, but it is much more stable. So, let's check that out. Okay, just by looking at the first few seconds you can tell the study mode is really steady. There's just no denying that, but as long as your lighting is good, the quality difference between normal mode and steady mode is not going to be a lot if your lighting goes down.
However, the study mode quality is going to be quite poor, and now I started running, and you can see that the steady mode is just so much more stable than the normal mode. So yeah there you go. That's your difference now, there's also something called as the space zoom that Samsung's introduced, where the galaxy has 20 and in the ultra, as well with the 100x, but in the galaxy has 20 and there's 20, plus you get up to 30 X. Let me show that to you real quick. So here is a view that we have in front of us right, and currently I am on 1 X zoom that you can see is already pre-selected.
I could go out and that will be ultra-wide mode at 0.5 X. But you have all these options on the right hand, side now this is 1 X again this is 3 X. So you can see that there is a slight deterioration of quality. Now, when you tap on 3 X again it'll give you all these options, you could go to 4 X, you could go to 10 X, and then you could go to 20 X, and then you could go all the way to 30 X. Now here are some shots that I took using 10 X as the zoom level and I think they've come out really well.
This may be a little low in quality, but it's still quite usable and in this one I was about to shoot that parrot, and then it just flew, but I'd still think it was a great photo and with one single frame of reference, I stood at one spot and I zoomed, all the way out to 0.5 X, and then I zoomed in to 1 X. So this is what it is from that same spot. You know it just zoomed in a little and then to 3x, which is the hybrid optical zoom, which you know still retains pretty good quality. And now this is at 10x, and then you could route 20, X and then to 30 X, where the image almost becomes unusable and low in quality. And now it's time for me to just wrap all of this up, go back to the studio and put all of these pictures together.
So I'll see you there. So I did get back to my studio, and then I realized, I still haven't, talked about low-light photos and the night more in the galaxy s 20, so I head out again in the night to take some shots, and here they are so here are some photos that I took at around 9 p. m. the sky is absolutely dark, but there is some ambient lighting, so you know there's just enough for low-light, photography and I have to say it's, probably one of the best cameras that I've ever held in a smartphone that can take such beautiful photos in low light generally, even earlier, flagships have struggled in low-light, but this is as good as it can get. You know this is probably the best I've ever seen, and I'm not gonna lie about it, but I did try the night mode, and this is where it gets tricky in these photos that you see right now.
The night mode sort of over exposes the picture. You know there's just more lighting than required, so you don't know when to use it, but here I think it worked out pretty well. It lit areas that were dark same with this. The sky is less noisy in this one, with the night mode enabled and even in this one the leaves are better lit here. So it's a hit or miss with the night mode and here's a sample video a shot in 1080p at 30fps.
At the same time, that I was out here, which is 9:00, 9:30 p. m. and I have to say it is a little noisy. It's not that great, but video is all about good lighting and if lighting is not as good, the video just cannot be that great. But, having said that, I think it's still usable, it's still decent, and it's its pretty much the same as what I would see in the galaxy has 1002 note 10, if not better or maybe marginally better, and lastly, I want to talk about selfies.
So as long as there's ample lighting around you, the selfie shots are really good-looking, they're, very high quality and the very natural-looking, but in low light the quality is not as good I. Don't have samples to show that, but I did take a couple of shots and I have not added them over here, but I can tell you from experience they're, not that great, so just make sure you've got good lighting, and here are some selfies that were taken in life focus mode where you can blur the background. So the subject stands out really nice and clear and I think it did a pretty phenomenal job again, it's all a function of how much light is available around the subject or the person. Now it does have some problem when it comes to hair, so the edge detection can falter a bit but otherwise great job. Now there are four things that we still haven't talked about: the slo-mo and super slo-mo mode.
The 64 megapixel photo mode, the HDR, 10 Plus, video, recording mode and single take mode. So let's pick up slow motion and super slow motion. First, very simple: not enough people use it and there is no real innovation. It's pretty much the same as you saw in the galaxy s 10 or the Galaxy Note 10, HDR, 10, plus video recording. It's actually a pretty great feature.
You know you can record videos that are very rich in quality and colors and contrast, but you can only view it on your Galaxy as 20 or pretty much any display that supports HDR. So you can't upload it to Facebook or Instagram. You can share it on WhatsApp. You have to upload it either to YouTube which support HDR. But again you can only play it back in true HDR mode if your display supports actually are- and now let's talk about that, sixty-four megapixel mode, very honestly, guys the sixty-four megapixel photos are not significantly better than the 12 megapixel photos.
I mean the difference is so minor that more often than not, you will not be able to tell the difference and about that single take mode. Essentially, it does a couple of things in just one shot, so you know, let's say you're having a fun moment or a party or someone's going crazy. You go to that single, take mode hit record or that shutter key, and then it'll just create a collage of things. You know like, like a gift like an ultra-wide shot like a small video loop, and then it'll just store it all together for you to view and share yeah. So it does it just does a lot of things for you without you having to do much, that's pretty much.
What it is, I, don't see it being used a lot, but you never know and that wraps it up. It's everything. I have on the galaxy s xx, camera and, to put it in a nutshell, I think it is the best smartphone camera that you can get in the market as of now, but again, people have their own preferences, so I'm going to leave all the photos and videos for you to download the link is going to be in the description below, go ahead, download and check it out. Yourself judge the quality. If, if it's something that appeals to you go for it, then if you've got any questions feel free to put them in the comment section.
I'll do my best to give you an answer and, as always guys don't forget to subscribe and hit that like button I'll see you in the next one.
