Hello everyone welcome to our channel in this video I'll be comparing the fossil Gen 5 to D, who are we watching? Gt 2 will be an in-depth comparison, so stick with me till the end and let's get started. If there's someone new to our channel, please consider subscribing to our channel, as you do regular videos for very smartwatches like this one smartphone reviews, tech, tutorials and much more also check out our playlist tab as we have dedicated playlist for who RV, fossil Samsung and Fitbit smartwatches so be sure to check them out. As there are more detailed videos about these smartwatches I will be comparing these top-of-the-line smartwatches against each other in various aspects. So you can make a good informed decision to purchase either or I have linked all the accessories and deals on these smartwatches in the description down below which I'll be talking about during this video so be sure to check them out. So, let's start with a brief unboxing experience and Christ, so the photo Gen 5 came in a box like this one I was quite impressed with the packaging quality. But for me the winner in terms of unboxing experience and packaging quality, is the hue.
We watched GT 2, which came in a box like this one. Who are we made sure that the unboxing experience was premium. Don't get me wrong. The fossil Gen 5 was also good, but since in this video I'll be picking one over the other, then this is my personal opinion, which I understand me vary among individual. Ok.
Now, let's talk about Christ, so the fossil Gen 5 cost me a whopping, 390, Canadian dollar plus taxes. Since who are we watching GT 2 cost me about 300 Canadian dollars, plus tax. Now before you start commenting about the cost just to let you know, the price may vary depending on the time of the year. You are shopping around and the deals that the stores are for him. I got them in January 2020.
But all that being said, the availability of Hawaii in Canada is limited versus the four thousand five, as I was able to find the fossil gen5 in most of the retailers like Best Buy, staples vision, fossil outlets and Amazon, but the Huawei watch gt2 was only available on Amazon and possibly envision electronics, but nowhere else so in terms of price. Whoever gets the lead, in my opinion, okay, next category to compare against will be the exterior, looks and customizable options. Now fossil comes in to where it is like the Carlisle's, which are more masculine and Juliana which are more feminine and all of their designs, as you can see our eye catching, and they are also in different bands and the one I have has a premium. Quality brown, leather band and the cool part about the band is its leather from top, but it's silicon from the bottom, so you don't need to take the band off while exercising, which is ingenious, and I appreciate it versus the Hawaii. If you get a leather band, you have to swap it for exercises, which is why I got the silicon band option in the first place.
Now both these watches have 22 mm band, so you can even interchange the band between these smartwatches or use any aftermarket, 22 millimeter bands, and it will fit on both of these watches I'm, more inclined towards fossil for the fact that they have a wide variety to offer, but all their watches are 44 millimeters, and you get no other size options versus the hobby. Watch. Gt2 comes in two sizes. The one I have is 44 millimeters, but you can also get the 42 millimeter option and in terms of styling you pretty much hair get two options in each size, as shown over here, which is not a lot in comparison to the fossil, but hey. If you've got a smaller wrist might go with the hue we've watched, gt2, 42 millimeters, now I don't have bigger, forearms or wrists, and you can see in this picture.
Both of these watches fit quite well on my wrist. So, for me, 44 millimeters works the best, especially you get more screen real estate with the 44 millimeter phosphate 5 has the 3 button layout with the rotating crown in the middle, which is not available on who are we watching the gt2 and I, really like the rotating crown, as it's quite useful for navigation? But again it's not robust. It does not work in some applications, but hey it's there, and I like it. There is a microphone in between the top and the middle button and an actual speaker on the other side. While we watch gt2, on the other hand, has two buttons layout and no rotating crown wow.
He has a microphone on the other side of the watch and the speaker is under the buttons over here now. Both these watches are capable of making Bluetooth phone calls and, yes, it will work for the WhatsApp, audio call and the speaker quality for both these watch is awesome. However, if I were to pick one I'll go with the Huawei speaker, quality, which is slightly superior to the fossil gen-5 way. Has this 3d curved glass design, where it's all glass? No bezel the glass at the edge has this numbers embedded under, so you don't feel any Ridge while moving your finger over the glass, and it really feels great versus the fossil Gen 5, which has the glass with the metal body, which is not a deal-breaker, but you do feel the tactile difference using side by side. So, overall, in this category, fossil Gen 5 wins as I am impressed with the multitude of customizing options.
The rotating crown and styling on the contrary, Huey be is also great, with the 3d bezel, less glass and design. But if I were to pick one for the design and exterior it will be the fossil gen5. Next category is specs and internals. You can pause this video and read through all the detail list on the sides of each of this watch, but overall in terms of screen, quality and brightness. While it takes the lead, as it has a resolution of 454 pixels and a pixel density of 462 pixels, with 1000 nits of brightness and the 3d bezel-less curved glass design.
Overall, the screen of who are we. What gt2 is more robust and crisp versus before so Gen 5 in terms of processing power? The fossil Gen 5 has the snapdragon 3100 processors, which is powerful among the other Google very smartwatches, and it has eight gigs of on-board storage for apps, music and pictures, but it has only one gig of ram, which is noticeable if you were to do speed customs, on the other hand, Bobby what gt2 has its proprietary Chiron a1 chipset, with enhanced power, saving capabilities and a whopping 2 gigabytes of RAM, which is the highest among most of the premium smartwatches. But sadly, it only has 4 gigs of on-board storage, with about 2.5 gigs of usable storage, which can only be used for music, and you cannot store pictures or apps on war. So fossil takes the lead over in terms of processing power. Both these watches has all the sensors you can ever need, like the heart rate, monitor pedometer altimeter, accelerometer gyroscope.
Both these watches have a built-in GPS. So you don't need your phone to track your run outdoors, but who does not have the Wi-Fi and NFC which fossil has? So? If you are someone who wants to use contactless payments, forget who IV as there is no NFC, unlike the fossil Gen 5, which has pay since who are, we do not have Wi-Fi transferring songs from the mobile to the ward is time-consuming process. I have done a separate video for it, which is linked up here in the card sections. You can check it out once you're done watching this one. Now, who are we? What gt2 has the latest Bluetooth 5.1 versus the phosphate 5, which has the Bluetooth 4.2, so the Hawaii? What gt2 has more robust connection slightly longer Bluetooth range and more data transfer, speed and booties watch does not have the option, unlike the Samsung Galaxy, elective 2, and the Apple Watch. Booties watch our swim proof, and you can take it for swim.
However, the Gen 5 is 3 atmospheric pressure, water resistance versus the hue, which GT 2 is 5 atmospheric pressure, water resistance, so don't take the fossil Gen 5 deeper in the water. With all that being said, picking one over the other in terms of specs category, it comes down to your personal preference, but for me fossil Gen, 5 Vince, as it has the Wi-Fi NFC for Google Pay, more internal storage and the Google virus, with options to download functional apps. Next section is navigation and menu layout for sale. Gen 5 has a classic various interface and with the rotating crown it's just awesome and flawless, you can scroll down to get seven quick options along with the battery level and connection indicator. The quick options include settings, airplane mode volume, options, battery customization mode, google play sorry, Google Pay turn off, watch display and do not disturb mode I wish.
We can customize these options and add more options. Like the Samsung Galaxy watch active tube. You can scroll up to get notifications. You can swipe right to access Google Assistant, which is the virtual assistant by google, and it can do multiple tasks like sent an alarm check, weather, so reminders show or send text messages and much more. This is not even an option on who are we watching duty to which I definitely miss out? If you were to swipe left, you can access five customisable widgets, you can enter the menu by clicking the count button and use the count to navigate around the menu one thing I found with the crown is, although it's super convenient to use, it does not always work with all the apps.
On the other hand, who I avoid gt2 has two button layouts. The top button can be used to enter the menu you have to swipe up or down to go around the menu swipe right to get back to the home screen on the home screen. You can swipe left or right for various statistics. You can swipe down from the top on the home screen to pull out the quick options like Do, Not, Disturb, Showtime, Find, My, Phone, alarm and settings with the battery level indicator date day as well as Bluetooth connected or not icon. Furthermore, you can swipe up from the main screen to pull out the notification.
One other important thing is: you cannot interact with any of the notification on the Huawei watch gt2, unlike the phosphate five, where you can even reply, delete and much more, which is another drawback of the gt2. So that being said, the winner in this category, for me personally, is the four thousand five as I like the rotating crown, the Google Assistant and the fact that I can interact with the notifications which I can't on the Hawaii. Next up is fitness tracking, which is a huge one for agent five has the Google fit for your fitness tracking phosphate file was actually able to detect the strength, training moves, I did in the gym, like bench, pressing shoulder, press, etc. , and to top it up for surgeon. Five has a ton of workout tracking options, as you can see over here in terms of heart rate, tracking phosphate five was not over shooting like the galaxy ? nor it was under shooting, like the Fitbit versa ?, so in short, I'm quite satisfied with the fitness tracking options.
But one really important note I have to say over here is that the workout tracking feature on the fossil Gen 5 is power consuming, especially if you were to track your outdoor run with the GPS on and continuous heart rate monitoring, as well as music playing from the watch to the Bluetooth headset expect your battery to drain about 50% in just 25 to 30 minutes, which is a deal-breaker even for me. What I have noticed is turning the GPS off and just tracking my 30 to 40 minutes strength, training, workout with continuous heart rate, monitoring on as well as music playback can drain about 30 to 40% of battery life. On the other hand, who are we what gt2 does not have a ton of workout tracking options and self detection of moves, like bench press or shoulder press etc. ? But it has all the bare bones of fitness tracking to access the exercise options. You have the dedicated bottom button, which can take you directly to the workout screen where you get a lot of options, as you can see here with the settings on each, so you can customize your goals and reminders.
The heart rate tracking is robust and just like the phosphate 5, no complaints, but the most amazing part I really like about the Huawei watch duty 2 is the amazing battery performance with the fitness tracking, for example, running outdoor with GPS, continuous heart rate, tracking and music playback from the watch on I have noticed only about 5 to 7 percent of battery level drop for about 30 to 40 minutes. Yes, you heard it right, just a single-digit drop and if I were to track the strength training with the GPS off, it will be only about 3 to 4 percentage battery level drops, which is just exceptional literally no other watch, except maybe the Fitbit verse I can do this. So for me, despite less workout tracking options, while we watch gt2 wins only because it's exceptional battery performance with the fitness tracking, sometimes there were instances where the phosphate v battery died, while tracking my outdoor run stay tuned by subscribing as I'll, be putting more in depth, fitness tracking options and real-time monitoring for these watches, as I have done for the Samsung and Fitbit Smartwatch, which I have linked up here in case. If you guys want to check it out once you're done watching this one. Now, let's talk about battery life before we even compare quality watch duty to wins in this section here, I can probably say that I only charged my while we watched GT to maximum three times per month, most likely it's just twice a month on an average.
While we watch GT to 44 millimeters will last about two weeks per charge, and that's because the Chiron, even chip, which is highly power efficient in the fact that the Hobby does not have an app store, and so there are no third-party battery consuming. Apps like it is on the faucet and five world. Gt2 has a 455 William hour battery, which is relatively bigger compared to other smartwatches. Now, fossil Gen 5 has the googles, whereas which is well known in the tech industry, for its notorious battery performance. However, I really appreciate fossils.
Effort of adding its own software for extended battery mode. I have done a detail, video about it, which is linked up here in case, if you guys want to check it out once you're done watching this one, but even with that we're, obviously you will have to compromise by turning off the Wi-Fi location, NFC screen brightness and all what I am able to get is max of two days of a battery life and if I were to use the Gen 5 at its full potential, with everything turned on, it won't even go past 10 to 12 hours. Fossil Jennifer has the largest battery capacity of five hundred and forty-five million power, but with all that extra size and the battery modes, it's not even worth to be compared to who are we watching E 2? So, basically, if I were to use the additional features that the fossil Gen 5 offers? On top of Wu Die t2, like the Wi-Fi, NFC, Google, Assistant third party, apps and games, I can't even go past one day without charging any fiber to sacrifice all those features, then I'll be going maximum two days versus who are we? What gt2, which will go about two weeks plus keep in mind? It can track the exercise with the continuous GPS on and the heart rate tracking monitoring. Both these watches have their own proprietary charging bricks, and they are not wireless charging capable like the Samsung Galaxy watch active to which I can even charge from back of my s10 Plus now phosphate file has this magnetic charging brick and the cool part is you can even turn the cord around after sticking it on to the back of the watch, thanks to the unique design? Now the Huawei watch gt2, on the other hand, is my personal favorite, because the magnetic charging brick, which has a USB-C port, so I, don't have to carry the cable all I have to carry. Is this brick and I can even charge it up from my s, 10 plus USB-C charger, which is really handy so just keeping the personal preferences aside while we watch gt2 wins here definitely.
Lastly, let's talk about software. Apps games and watch face options and wrap it up with my final C. Phosphate 5 has the Google's very OS, which is well known for a ton of apps and games. I have done a video for the top three games on fossil Gen 5, which is linked up here in case of Cassiano check it out once you're done watching this one gen-5, a huge selection of watch faces from the Play Store in terms of apps as an example, you can get gallery where you can browse around pictures. You can even get functional apps like maps, camera, Find, My, Phone, audio recorder, web browser, flashlights, Spotify, etc.
On the other hand, why we watch gt2 does not have any app store, so you cannot add any additional apps or games. All you have is the built-in apps, like contacts music barometer weather, stopwatch timer, alarm flashlight and find my phone I can appreciate? Who are we to include basic functional apps like Find My, Phone, alarm, stopwatch flashlight, but I, really miss apps, like camera control gallery to view images? There are good pre-installed watch face, but that's it. You cannot add any third-party watch face as you can on the photo gen-5. So you are limited with options so for me personally for Son 5 Vince over here. So my final verdict is that both of these smartwatches are top-of-the-line smartwatches.
Undoubtedly to make it simple if you are a various fan, and you want a Smartwatch which can do smart functions like interaction with the notifications, cool third-party apps games and watch faces, go with the fossil Gen 5 and if you are someone who does not care about smart features, but want a watch with exceptional battery life of two weeks with all the features like awesome, fitness, tracking, continuous GPS and heart rate, monitoring, onboard music storage and playback bare bone apps, like Find My Phone, stopwatch smart alarm ability to make audio calls directly from the watch. Awesome sleep tracking, then who Ali what gt2 is the best option currently in the market? I personally use who are we what gt2 most of the time, especially when I'm travelling as I really like the battery life, and it has all the features that I want like ability to call directly from the watch find my phone from the watch on world music storage and basic apps. Yes, I do miss third-party apps, like the camera control gallery, watch your assistant NFC for the contactless payment Wi-Fi for faster data transfer. But none of this is a dealbreaker for me and I. Guess it's the same for you guys as well.
So the choice is yours. If I were to pick, one I would go with the Huawei watch gt2 and save a hundred bucks with exceptional battery life. So that's it I, really hope the video helped you to narrow down your choice and needs I hope you found this video helpful. If you did, then please give this video a thumbs up and a sub would be massively appreciated as I'll. Be posting more awesome.
Videos like this one. Thank you so much for watching, and I'll catch you guys in the next one peace.
