A bit of a rainy morning today in Shenzhen I made it to the pagoda. Let's have a look at it there. It is beautiful now today's phone check it out, maze I, don't know if you heard of a brand called maze, but this is a Chinese company started off as a mp3 player manufacturer and lately has been doing some decent smartphones, but this next one this latest one that they've done is looking very, very interesting. It's the first one of their phones to have a Snapdragon 805 processor in there, and it's only just come out literally a few days ago, I had to get my hands on it and give it a little review and see what it's saying without further ado. Let's get ourselves down on some steps here and let's get this open and let's check out the Chinglish, astronautics and I. Don't know what this says here: it doesn't make sense and that's the beauty of Chinglish.
It doesn't make sense anyway. Let me sit down over here and let's get this bad boy, open, righty-ho, here's, the penknife and let's get this bad boy off him. We are checked this out. Oh, it's nice that very, very, very thin bezel beautiful symmetry top to bottom and the black nice little richer there on the camera that flash looks serious to check it out. I bought it in the white color, because I thought it looks more striking in the white.
It does look more striking. Well, it is in the box else. Do we have it's a nice box, you know, looks pretty slick okay in their charger in there and some cables? Okay box looks quite nice. You know it's nice and slick I like the designer, like the branding here. It's a nice finish on that feels good quality wool.
This looks nice. Okay, there's the boxing. Okay, let's have a closer look at this bad boy, so here we have it made still 16. Let's take these stickers off you phone shiny white, finish on the back I like that. How do we switch this on MMM fly me.
This is their own. Skin English skip, skip sin roll the fingerprint place your finger here, ooh, let's get in there Wow this fingerprint sensor on the screen, how fantastic, what a fantastic addition to this phone- very good. Okay, this is the UI, not bad. It could be a touch sharper and a bit more. The design, oriented higher quality, I think okay.
Anyway, let's take this up and have a better look at some other features in the phone. Okay, Here I am let's head on up with this phone. How do I rate it so far? The design, I love the bezel, thinness I. Think that's amazing. How does it feel in my hand, it's not feeling as good as I thought it.
My I'm not feeling I've got an expensive phone in my hand, I don't know if it's the way, it's quite light. You know, and the material is like a slightly plastic is kind of vibe, which I guess it's: okay, because it makes it lighter, but in terms of feeling like an expensive phone I'm, not really getting that feeling to be honest with you from it, but having just switched it on and seeing, for example, the fingerprint feature built within the screen I mean that is pretty impressive. Let's see that there's not anybody around I don't want to disturb people, because last time there were some people and I don't want to disturb anyone at the pagoda. Nice eh, let's have a sit down here, have a chat about this phone. As you can see, the bezels are super thin on this.
When I read online on the maze website, it says 91 or something percent screen to body ratio. Now, I, don't know how true that is, because I've seen somewhere else online. It's saying eighty-four percent, but officially according to me soon, the ratio is ninety-one point something percent and the processor, as I mentioned, is a snapdragon 845 in here, and it's their first ever phone to have that processor. To have it's not dragon processor, so now maze is officially with the big boys. You can see they're trying to make a mark now on the Chinese smartphone industry, which I think they have certainly done with this.
The design is very, very nice. I love the fact that it's symmetrical bottom to top I. Don't like the way, it's feeling in my hand, I was wanting it to feel more weighty, given the other features screen. Fingerprint reader, for example, so I'm slightly disappointed with that, but let's crack it open. Let's put my fingerprint there and see if it works there we are, that was instant.
Oh wow, I've never ever tried an in screen fingerprint reader before that is the future right there and I. Don't think we need to have anything on the back anymore. If that can exist, then from 2019 onwards, I think all smartphones should be integrating down to the screen. I've always been more of a fan of fingerprint readers than facial recognition. I, don't know why I just feel it's more secure, and I like it thumbs up for the fingerprint reader next camera.
Let's get it open, where's. The camera up there, ok, there's a camera. Let's take a selfie first, ok, I'm gonna, take the beauty mode off because often attorneys fall, and you'll find they've got a beauty mode automatically, starting which I hate heavily beautified nope. No, no there we are. How is that? Looking not too bad? It's not too bad.
The colors could be a slightly better, even though the beauty mods off I'm still feeling like a grayish, glowy vibe slightly just a tad, and let's do a snap of the pagoda. Now that looks nice. Oh, that looks beautiful. Look at the detail and I love the way. It's showing me the picture all across the curved screen and I think watching movies and just using the phone with that kind of display.
It's going to be a nicer experience to be fair: okay, cameras, decent, it's a 12 megapixel and 20 megapixels, dual camera at the front. At the back and on the front there's a 20 megapixel, selfie camera just down the corner, and they've managed to integrate all of that into a really thin top forehead and quite a thin bottom chin too, symmetrical that symmetry. It really makes the phone stand out to me. I think phones like this, for people who don't like a notch. This is the one for you.
If you're in the anti notch gang this fawn were made for you mates who had you in mind when they designed this phone, the anti notch gang they literally did they've managed to fit a headphone jack into so the anti not and ancient headphone jack gangs you'd be happy with this check it out. USB C port nice little of speaker grille at the bottom. You've got the SIM tray. True SIM tray area here, volume, rockers and power button there and a beautiful super thin bezel. We've got six full inches there, 402 PPI, which, as I said before anything over 400, is pretty rich.
So, let's see how it performs: let's get some apps and stuff open and see how it does okay. So, as you saw there it loads up very fast, that's not bragging! Eight four fives is doing its thing in there now this is definitely serious phone. This is not no gimmicky phone at all and what I like about it? Firstly, is just this design: the edges are almost non-existent. I love this curvature in the screen and on the body it hits the eye very nicely and when you're, using the phone and watching things or playing with things, it just makes everything look better. So design is top-notch I.
Also love this in screen, fingerprint reader I mean wow I, don't know why old phones don't have this now I didn't even really know much about it. To be honest with you, I'm super impressed with that I love that very much the camera is decent -. It looks like a serious camera -. It looks pretty professional, but I, don't like it the way it feels in my hand, I feel like I'm holding plastic is phone in my hand, I really am gutted about that feeling, like the Nova 3, when I held that phone I felt like I'm, holding something special like a piece of jewelry or something and that's the feeling I want when I hold a phone I want to feel like I'm holding a piece of art. That's how I want to feel and the UI design I'm not impressed with ? I, think they could have pushed the ball out a bit more with the UI design.
It's too simplistic. It's too, like basic Android phone vibe I'm, not really feeling it the UI, but they could fix that they could produce it a nicer skin or do something with that and the feeling of the phone they could do something with changing the materials and whatnot. Having said all of that, the question is: is Sic phone, or is it a standard phone and based on just what they've managed to do with this area? Here, it's going to have to be a sick phone, and the second reason why it's a sick phone for me is when I read about this company made soup they've started off from just little mp3 players somewhere, not that long ago, nobody's really taking them that seriously and the power that they've managed to pack into this extraordinary design is enough for me to grant this sick phone status. I, don't feel it's a standard phone I wish it felt more Wow in my hand, but regardless you cannot knock it for what it's done, and this has definitely I think is going to change the game a little, because they've shown that design matters as I've been saying design is the key, and they have managed to hit the spot with this, so sick phone. Yes, this is definitely a serious flagship of 2018 the processor.
The memory respects the cameras and, most importantly, that beautiful design not a bad shot at all.
