Blackberry KEYone Pristine Review

It was going on your shoe man pristine back with another video welcome to the pristine review, the BlackBerry key one. This is, in my opinion, a very, very impressive piece of hardware and shout out the TCL for keeping the BlackBerry name going. You know been an absolute joy using this device and my understanding is that before the end of the year, blackberry is also going to be releasing another device which is just gonna, be all touchscreen, and this supposedly it's going to be a follow-up to their D tech, 50 and D text.60 line, so I believe this phone may be called the D Tech 70 I'm, not sure, but you know I'll continue to do my research and as information comes in I'll, let you guys know about it. So you guys already know the order of business with my reviews. First I'm going to start off with the specs. We've got a 4.5 inch, full HD display IPS. Sixteen twenty by ten eighty-four thirty-three PPI we've got an outscore 64-bit Sam dragon 625 processors.

We've got 32 gigs of on-board storage, three gigs of RAM, which is a correction when I did the unboxing video I believe that I've met I, believe that I said four gigs of RAM, so my apologies I, don't want to mislead anybody. This has three gigs of RAM. Now there is a version called the black edition. That's not going to be released here in the States. That's just going to add some release overseas and that's one that has four gigs of RAM, rather than three, and I believe, there's something else different about it, along with it being all black.

So if you want that version of the blackberry q10, it's 7.1.1 fresh out of the box, nougat we've got a 3505 William hour battery, which lasts all day, eight megapixel, front-facing, camera, 12, megapixel, rear, rear camera with dual tone: LED flash and laser autofocus. So those are the specs just to remind you guys of what we're dealing with here, but the BlackBerry key one. The build quality in my opinion is just absolutely stellar. This has to be one of the best built phones and 20s maintain. In my personal opinion, this thing is built like a tank TCL and the BlackBerry team I mean they used nothing, nothing somewhat.

It seems to me, but the most premium materials to make this device. Maybe it is absolutely built like a tank, and it is actually a beautiful gorgeous device. It's got a little of weight to it. You know it's all metal or aluminum. We've got Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front I believe we do have the physical keyboard here, which I am also a fan of, but you know, I do have to say that you know over the years I mean I've.

Gotten is so accustomed to just typing on a digital keyboard and I find myself using the digital keyboard more so than I. Do the physical keys and I think it's just because you know the physical keys I mean they're, tiny, you know what I mean, and so I can't type as fast as I can on the digital screen because of the digital screen. You know you get customized the size that you want the keys to be. You know these are all just one size, and so you basically have to conform to the size of these keys, and it just may not be conducive to your typing style. Furthermore, you know what I mean, especially when you've gotten so used to typing on a digital keyboard.

Now the good thing is I mean it does light up on me. So you can see exactly you know what you're what you're typing and it you know it's great- that you've got one button of one key functionality. I mean you basically can program every one of these letters to do something but like when you're, when you're having to type like punctuation- or you know, remember in the tag capitals, or you know always having to remember to hit the alt button. You know I'm saying if I want to hit, you know, make an @ sign or a question mark. You know it just takes a little more time to do those things as opposed to knowing exactly where those things are on a digital keyboard.

So you know the physical keyboard didn't pan out for me, as well as I thought that it was going to now. The one thing you know: I am able to type a little more efficiently, but I'm typing slower. You know what I mean it. It's taking more time for me to type messages out as opposed to you know the digital keyboard. You know most of the time I'm pretty accurate.

You sometimes know I seem dyslexic, because I'm typing too fast, and I have to actually I have to go back and just you know, retype. Furthermore, you know the mistakes that I made from typing too fast, but I have to say that the overall build quality in this device is it is. It is solid. This is one of the most well bit phone well-built phones that you can get your hands on. In my opinion, in 2017 we've got this nice soft material here on the back.

I'm, not exactly sure what you know what it's called I'm, not sure. If it's a plastic or a rubber, yeah I just know it feels perfect in the hand, and so it's very easy to grip the phone. But urban. The ergonomics of the phone to me is absolutely just just just wonderful I mean it's curved on the sides curved from the back to the front from the front to the back, and it's rounded on the edge of something. So it's very easy to get the phone in hand, and it's very comfortable to hold, so I have to say the build quality is stellar in my opinion.

Now the performance before you know, as I mentioned, we've got a Snapdragon 625 processor. For those of you that don't know this is one of the most tried-and-true processors that there is I, don't care what anybody has to say about that I think some of the most that some of the best performing most battery efficient devices have Snapdragon 621 processors in them. So you know, in my opinion, you know I understand that we got the Snapdragon 835 state 21, a 20s of the world out there, no matter it doesn't matter. You know the 625 here. Can definitely hold its own against all of them.

I've had zero lag at all whatsoever since I've had this device now I have watched a few reviews. You know on this device a little while ago and a lot of wells. Some reviewers have said that this phone is extremely lagging and that that has not been my experience at all whatsoever. So I mean you know. Maybe BlackBerry has pushed out some updates.

You know to address that matter. If that's something that got back to them, which you know if that were the case, then I'm glad that they did that. But I have to say you know. In my experience, using this device, I've had no lag. Everything has been buttery smooth all the time every time.

Ok, so that's just that's! That's my personal experience with the performance. You know it's nice and snappy. Apps they open nice and quick, is very happy. There's hardly any load times, of course, with some of the more content heavy apps. You know expect there to be a few more seconds additional that you may have to wait and for that app to open up, but that's on any device.

It doesn't matter what processor it's running you know so um, you know, I got to say the performance has been wonderful in this device. Now the cameras you guys already know about the camera. If you want to check out more about the camera check out the video that I did on the BlackBerry t1 slash forward, slash the camera. Ok check that out- and you know that they're you know I'm talking about the camera I'm talking about the chemist that camera specs and there's actual there are samples of still shots from the front facing camera rear facing camera. There's also video footage from the front facing camera and a rear facing camera as well.

So go ahead and check that out. If you haven't already- and let me know what you guys think about that: ok mm-hmm now the battery life as I mentioned, this phone has a thirty-five. Oh, five William hour battery in it alright this phone- this is definitely considered one of if not the battery champion in 2017. It has right now it has to be a crop man. It has to be either between this the mate, nine and the Motor Z to play.

You know those phones, you know the mate nine. It's got a four thousand William hour battery in it, you know now. The interesting thing is the Motor Z to play, which I'm recording this video with that has a three thousand William hour battery in it, so it actually has a smaller battery. Then last year's Motor Z play right, and so a lot of people were kind of scratching their heads like okay. Well, why would they reduce the battery size? Okay, the battery life isn't gonna, be what we're used to it being well.

They've got the snapdragon 626 processors, which I believe is a little more battery efficient, and it is it's. It's optimized perfectly for that phone I mean I've, gotten killer battery life on that device, and- and it's the same thing here- on the blackberry and quinoa. Now this has a bigger battery, obviously, so I'm sure that's attributed you know. ? I've had why I have such good battery life. If you look at it right here, you see right here, I'm at 57 percent, the last time I charged.

This phone was like a day and a half ago a day and a half ago literally, and so a lot of this also just have to do with usage as well. I mean again, you know I'm, just not one of those persons that you know it doesn't uh. You know tons and tons of downloading, and you know, like I, said I stream music on Spotify when I'm internet. You know when I'm in my car through Bluetooth, but you know, I've been off the last three days: I mean I've been chilling, you know just trying to catch up on some rest, and so I haven't really been doing much with the phone, and so I'm sure that that's also a contributing factor, but just the fact that I've gone that long without charging the device- and it's still at 57% I mean the battery life on this device is exceptional. It is exceptional all right now additional features, this phone, it you know it's.

You know I feel like it's. It's BlackBerry's best mixed in with Android. You know, so you know, you've got the Doubleday to sleep, double tapped, awake. You know they take that out of LG's playbook, you know, but that is a good feature to have I love the fact that, like I mentioned the physical keyboard, it also acts as a trackpad. And so if you don't want to touch the screen, you don't have to touch the screen.

You see what I mean. So that's pretty slick. You know I like that pretty cool. Now each one of these keys can be programmed to do just about whatever you wanted to do. So, if you have somebody in your contacts whose first name starts with an A, and you want to call that person, you just hit the what about one of my best friends growing up and growing up with this cat ever since I was a baby literally.

This is my brother, my family, my boy Andre. If I want to call Are I just hit a boom, and it's calling Are right there simple. As that, you see what I'm saying I mean. So you know that that is a dope feature. To have I mean that really will cut down on actually getting into your phone.

You know like say: if you want to make a phone call, you know you got to hit the call button, and then you know scroll up and down your contact list and find the number well with this. You can just you know whatever that person's first initial is you just you know, hit the button. Furthermore, you know program that letter. Furthermore, you know to call that individual and there's different, there are different options that you can use to program these things. It's not just you know, hitting the letter to call someone, but that's just what I set it up.

As you know, you know some of the people that I talk to most frequently then I just got it set up to where hey. If I want to conjure a man, I hate the if I want to call. If I want to call my mom's, you know I'm, saying I just hit him, and you know call bonds. You know I'm saying if I want to call my wife I just hit the W for wifey, you know I'm saying and its dowser right up. You know now I also like the fact that we've got this little button right here, which is the convenience key now inconveniently the power in the sleep button is on the left side.

Okay, that's pretty inconvenient. You know what I mean now, if you're, if you hold your phone with your left hand, and that may not be such a know such an issue for you, you know, but me I mean even though I'm a lefty I'm very ambidextrous. You know, so I'm left-handed, but I rock with my phones. In my right hand, most of the time you know, so it's its. You know I always like to see all the buttons just all on one side.

You know what I mean. So it's interesting. We got the convenience key here. The volume rocker right here, okay, but the power button is on the left. You see them saying so.

The good thing about the convenience key is that can be programmed to be used kind of like as a sleep button I mean, so you know, as opposed to having to reach up here or if I'm, holding the phone and I don't want to double tap it. With my other hand, I can just press the convenience key, and it turns the screen off. You know what I mean and if I want to reopen it, fingerprint sensors right here on the space bar I can just go ahead and tap that you know I got it set up to do a double security enter my pin code in and boom I mean you know it's right back to my home screen and I. Can you know, do business as usual now. Another feature that I really like about this device is to detect security.

You know this has to be one of the most secure devices that there is I mean blackberry. They really stress and emphasize security on your device. So I really am a huge fan of that. You know we live in a day and age where you know these hackers they're going crazy. You know I'm Santa being so, there's no better feeling than knowing that your device is.

Did you know, so you know, there 's's the know, security features that you can apply yourself? You know, pin college or passwords fingerprints, but I feel like BlackBerry. They go the extra mile with to detect security just to ensure that your device is secure and if there's any kind of breaches of any kind- and it will let you know- and it also prompts you on what you need to do- to make sure that your device is more secure sighted, so that it's not susceptible to you, know hackers or anybody trying to get into your device and steal your information. You know that. That's that's critical, you know, that's very critical, I mean, so I love, I, love that feature, so you know final thoughts for this particular device. You know I have to, say I can recommend this device to anybody now.

Is it for everybody? No, it's not! You know what I mean one of the many reasons why another one of the one of the two things that I struggle with this phone is the fact that the screen is so small. It's a five four point. Five inch display, and you know I'm so used to rocking big phones. You know I'm, saying five point five or better. For me, you know I, typically, don't rock with phones that are less than five point: five-inch screens, it's either a five point: five, a five point: seven or six inches.

You know I, just like big phones and so for me. It's been a little of a challenge from time to time. Just because you know I, wear reading glasses a lot of times, I may not have them with me, and I really have to strain my eyes to read content on this little screen. You know what I mean and I understand. You can go into the settings, and you can adjust the font sizes and things of that nature.

But, of course the font is gonna, be bigger on a bigger screen. You see what I'm saying. So you know if that's something that you may, that you may struggle with, and I can't say that this phone is for you now some people they like a smaller device. You know- and that's fine I mean I- think that this you know this. This would be perfect for you.

You know what I mean, but you know so, just between you know the small screen and the fact that I'm not able to type as efficiently as I thought I was going to on the physical keyboard. You know those are the only two struggles that I have with it, but I mean aside from that I mean everything else is perfect, I mean you know. Viewing content on this device is a breeze. You know I thought that it was going to be. You know, kind of kind of suspect because of the smaller screen, but it's not really a big deal.

I can see everything nice and clear when I'm looking at to videos or any other kind of content, it does have a single rear mounted speaker, which is right here, which is extremely loud. I mean I'm actually impressed with the sound quality from this device, considering that it is a single bottom firing speaker, you know now it would have been nice if they would have. You know: here's the receiver right here in between the selfie camera and the LED lights and the proximity sensor. You know that would be nice if they had implemented another front facing speaker right there, but you know maybe we'll see that in BlackBerry's next iteration of the key one, or maybe it'll be the key to or something like that, and maybe they'll have that feature in there. But I have to say you know.

Overall the way this latest phone performs how snappy it is the battery life the build. You know the cameras are being very, very solid. You know: front-facing eight megapixel camera 12, megapixel shooter on the rear, again check out the video that I did on the camera. It's called blackberry, t1 forward, slash the camera check that out and let me know what you guys think about that I have to, say: I mean there's way more positive things to this device than there are negative. You know so in my personal opinion to me that justifies the price tag.

The price tag is five $49.99. So with taxes you know, you're going to pay them a little. I think I paid like six. Oh, four or something you know with the taxes and who knows I mean right now you may be able to catch this bone at a sale. I mean it's been out for a little while, but it's an it's a very, very hot commodity.

This bone has been out for, like maybe three and a half of four months, if not longer, but since It's come out, it's been sold out and on back order every time I tried to get this device I recently just got it like a couple of weeks ago. You know so um, you know I, you know if you can get your if you can get your hands on this device and a deal great, but I mean you know. I. The price tag is five 49.99 I feel like that's a solid price. You know for this particular device and everything that you're getting with it.
