BlackBerry Classic in 2020! Mixing New and Old, a formula for success! By Ians Tech

Hey there guys welcome to another video some of the video I wanted to give you a look at the blackberry classic, and this is definitely the epitome of old-style blackberry, and it was originally called the Q xx, and this one specifically has classic on the back here, but it has that very iconic style with the keyboard and has 10 on here. So just give you some specs on the device, so it did come out in December 2014 came with blackberry, OS 10. We have a 3.5 inch display with 720 by 720 8 megapixel camera on the back 2 megapixel front facing camera. It has a Snapdragon s4 plus processor, with 2 gigs of RAM has a 25 15 William hour battery. It is non-removable which is kind of surprising, so this is an honorable back. Furthermore, it does have, so there's an LCD screen.

Let's see that came with BlackBerry OS 10. This one is running ten point three point: three, the s4 plus processor is dual-core as an Arena 225 GPU. It does have 16 gigs of internal storage, but can be expanded via the SD card slot and yeah. So it's a pretty nice phone. So just give you a look around the device here.

You do see the screen here in the front. There's our 3.5-inch screen, and we do have a blackberry branding on top there. We have our earpiece. You can see the camera right there to the right, and we do have our call key blackberry. Key.

Your navigation touch, point feedback key and key and our keyboard, and it is that really nice, nice blackberry keyboard there on the bottom. Here we have our micro, USB port. We have our speakers and microphone down here on the side. Here we do have removable, SIM, tray and SD card tray. So it's kind of interesting a little different on the top.

Here we do have our microphones. We have a power sleep key, and we have our 3.5 millimeter headset jack. On the opposite side, we have our action key in the center there we have our volume up and down on the back. We do have the 8 megapixel camera there, as well as LED flash, our classic branding and a large blackberry logo. The back here uses kind of a kind of Ridge pattern, the same as the z10 I'm.

Not super fan of this I did like how they used kind of like a leather at leather, --is--, kind of material in the BlackBerry Bold, and then the q10 kind of used a carbon fiber, look and I kind of prefer those, but it does still have a nice look to it around the device. It has a stainless steel band which looks like a brushed kind of band, and it has a really nice heft to it. This phone feels really nice in the hand, and it's just totally different from the z10 I did just review the z10 on my channel, and this is way beyond better. In my opinion, here's just to give you a quick comparison between the z10 and the classic they're, almost the same size, you're just losing a half. You know half an inch point, seven inches from the screen, because the keyboard here this has a 4.2-inch screen, and it just has a much more plastic kind of design. I, just don't like it.

It is lighter, but it just doesn't have as quality of a feeling as the blackberry classic did here. I saw the front of this one. You got that 4.2-inch screen. You got the earpiece there, flanked by these two large plastic chins and blackberry, branding down there and then, as you can see, they have similar looking materials on the back there. So, except the z10, which has a removable back here, and so, as you can see here, we go removal back, and you have a removable battery.

You can replace and that's where you would insert your SIM card and your SD card. So one thing, I learned about the blackberry, classic and I think is kind of unfortunate, is that it actually uses the same processor, RAM and everything the graphics processing as the BlackBerry z10 and the blackberry q10, which both were released in 2013, while the classic was released at the end of 2014 I think that they could have definitely given this a better processor at that time and probably would have you know, kept it. You know going a little faster. You know into the future, however: I still think that it's still a nice phone, and it still runs pretty well and here's just a quick, sound sample, so BlackBerry OS does have some pretty nifty little shortcuts. Furthermore, you can use.

So, if you're on a webpage- and you don't want to go all the way at the top, you can just hit the T key. If you want to go to the bottom of the page, you're going to set the B key, and if you wanted to search for something on the webpage, you can just hit the S key, and then you can just immediately type something- and my typing isn't the greatest on here, because I'm not used to a physical keyboard. However, I do still love it. You can also scroll through a page by hitting the space key, which is pretty nice, say you're in an app, and you want to get out of it. You can hit the back key and then to close out of these in the multitasking.

Pane just hit the back key again, and you can close each one of them that you want. You also have a universal search, so when you're on your home page, you can just start typing, and then it will actually search through the phone for you, which is pretty cool, and you do have a voice assistant also included. So one of the biggest downsides of the blackberry classic has got to be its app support, even though it allows you to install Android apps that work with Android 4.3 jelly bean I still have had so many issues trying to get any of them to work. So here's Google Maps. This is an older version.

The only one I was able to get to install and, of course the map part doesn't work. So it also asked me to install a newer version of Google Play Services, which I could not so that was unfortunate. I also was not able to actually log into any social media apps that are included here. So I did not try Facebook, really a fan of Facebook. The Twitter app that's built into BlackBerry OS does not work gives me an error.

I have not tried. LinkedIn YouTube is basically just a browser. URL, that's all it does. So you can watch YouTube in the browser that works. Just fine I did try Instagram.

That did not let me log in and the Twitter app for Android I downloaded an older version, and it basically gave me an error, so that did not work. Also, YouTube does not work either social- you that that gives me that just crashes, so it's kind of like hit or miss with the app support blackberry world fits no longer lets you download any apps. So your only option is the Amazon App Store, which is quite limited. Aside from that, you can download the Play Store, but you're really, you know just on a whim, not sure what you're going to be able to actually get to work. So the games that I was able to work.

I did get the local game to work. Altos, adventure, honesty, I'm, sorry, alt, says it Odyssey that worked Temple Run worked. However, whenever I tried to turn him, he just didn't recognize, and I just died each time, so that was kind of fun ways does work, but there is an issue with this phone I think, because the GPS does not work. It is very inaccurate and shows me in a completely different place, so you can see the load times on these apps are kind of bad, but let's see if it actually recognizes where I'm at because I don't think it will nope, it says I'm in a completely different place than I am so, but the Maps does it do work. So that's one working app there Maps app does work also, but it also gives me an incorrect location, so I'm not sure if there must be something wrong with the GPS on the phone yeah.

So just continues to show me in the wrong location in my town, but that's okay. It does work, it does show you your traffic, so this still works, and you can still use Waze and that still works just fine, but you're very limited on app support. So it's classic is definitely a more business centric device, and although this would include the camera, there was a version that had no camera, which is kind of interesting. So, as I said previously, it has an 8, megapixel rear shooter. Here, on the back, we have a LED flash and then a 2 megapixel camera on the front, and it's a pretty decent camera on both sides.

I'd say a little better than the z10, and I'll show you some photos and videos from that. Now you hereare a sample of the video on the blackberry classic you so are the blackberry classic still a viable smartphone to use in 2020, yeah I'd say so. It still has quite a bit going for it and although the app support is very limited, you can still use a lot of things in the browser, and it has a wonderful keyboard. A pretty nice screen, and I'd say the rear. Camera is a pretty good camera as well.
