We might be downsizing this year, guys, I feel, like 2020, has made us all, rethink our choices and lean heavily towards minimalism and compact everything, including phones. That's why ASA's before 8 will be nothing like you expect. For starters, the companies got a pretty good idea of how much you loved their flip camera phones. I mean, I remember, reading all your comments about the seven and guys I flipped so much support. Obviously, that's something ASUS's team realized on their own too, and is planning to give you three options. This year, three before 8 phones to choose from a pro, possibly a vanilla and a mini.
Well, they called it compact, but let's go with mini, and you know what I found out more about the mini than the pro. What's even more interesting is that ASUS decided to tease their unveiling event with a message that puts the compact in focus and the cutout of what supposedly that phone's body. So what does that tell us that the before 8 mini is actually a big deal for ASUS they're, putting all their bets on this version and, like I said, no wonder, users are going bananas about mini phones. You've got your OnePlus word buyers, your iPhone 12 mini fans. By the way we talked about the iPhone 13 mini last week.
Make sure you check it out if you haven't seen it yet so, like I said, OnePlus and Apple are coming out with midi smartphones. Sony is known for doing that and even google is keeping their pixel a-line alive. I just saw some pixel 5a leaks the other day. There's no doubt we found our smartphone sweet spot, the specs of a flagship in the body of a compact at a reasonable price and guess what before, 8 mini is about to check them. All really ASUS could sell this year, an all-around better before than last year's, and that's quite the feat, as you all know, how are they planning to do that from what I can tell it's all about cutting down the excess and adding performance on top, so 0.8 mini is going to go from the 6.6 inches, something to a 5.9 inch size. That's roughly how much an iPhone 12 measures so a bit bigger than the iPhone 12 mini, but before 8 will be slightly smaller than the pixel 5a.
So there's that the screen is going to be OLED for sure with wait for it, a 120 hertz refresh rate, something we've seen top-notch devices sporting this year. So a real treat for a compact, because the mini will most likely carry the flip mechanical camera. No before has gone without since the 6th you're going to enjoy a notch free whole free display with no bezels inside either. That's still a big win yeah, even in 2021, because most phones have their displays interrupted by selfie camera cutouts. Sure many are looking to fix it by putting the front shooter under the display, but that's a whole other endeavor.
So ASUS has got a great thing going for them with this mechanical solution. Now, because we're teasing the camera there's something else, you should know, there's a big chance that this mini will get major applause for one thing: Sony's mix, 663 sensors, one, that's not out yet, so it could make this compact before 8, the first to sport, it this one's joined by a 64, megapixel Sony, mix 686, which is likely going to serve at the main camera. Are we looking at a triple camera or quad like the before 8 pro is about to be couldn't say for sure? What I can say is that, overall, the difference between this mini baby phone and the mighty pro is going to be tiny like they are going to share the same snapdragon, 880, processor and even the same memory or better. That sounds crazy, but guys benchmarks are showing 16 gigs for the mini and just eight on the pro. Personally, I find that hard to believe, but I guess we'll know for sure.
In a couple of weeks on May 12th, the cat's going to be out of the bag. Battery and charging will also be confirmed. Although I'd say that five thousand William hour cell is a safe bet and a 30 watt charging is in the cart. Don't care too much about the size, then go for the before 8 pro okay. So what are we thinking here? 700 800, I don't think ASUS is going to shoot for more given the situation we're still struggling with, plus most phone makers have cut their prices, knowing that okay yeah phones are important, but man.
How can priorities change when the world's on fire? How do you feel about the before 8? Could this phone become the best mini around best compact android of 2021? Let me know, thanks for watching and don't forget, subscribe and hit the bell button. If you want to see more videos like this, it really means the world to us. See you guys.
