Okay, so I'm back with some uh further thoughts on the Apple Watch Series six uh, particularly this graphite finish, which I've had now for about uh three and a half days, and I've had the Apple Watch Series six in total. Coming from the series four for a little over a week, I originally got the uh gold finish. That's over here um, I want to say. Maybe I used it for about four days before deciding that the color just wasn't for me. So then I switched uh to the graphite and um. You know.
My initial first impression was that the graphite color was surprisingly uh, surprisingly lovely, and I can say that, after wearing it for three or four days that impression has just grown. The color has actually really grown on me overall from the stainless steel finishes. Um the regular stainless steel was just not really ever the color. For me, I wasn't really interested in that color, and you know I'm aware that it's kind of a popular uh watch finish and color, and it's also popular amongst the Apple Watch but um that that that never factored to me um overall of the three. I would definitely still give the edge in terms of looks for me to the gold series four and the same gold as used in the series five.
I just think it's kind of a rich, elegant, um, earthy kind of color that I really like the new gold is more of a true yellow and if you like that, look, and you have yellow jewelry to match it with. As someone commented previously, then this might be great for you and actually, if you're, a fan of the stainless steel, the yellow is, is very light. You know you can see it compared to the previous gold, it's a very light yellow and in some lights it does kind of look like stainless steel. So that to me is my least favorite um and coming in at a very, very close. Second, now is the new graphite finish um.
In some lights it's kind of like a kind of like a gunmetal gray um in darker lighting. It does look black and just in my opinion, it has a lot of character and personality more so than I would say, the previous space black, which is a more true black. You know, I think, just you know the way it catches the light um. It is a slightly lighter color and whenever I do glance down at my wrist with this watch on um, I'm impressed I've been impressed with the finish now. The overall question you know going from a series: six uh, going from a series, four to the series: six um, that's a little tougher um.
You know. Having used the series six for a week uh, I can say that, obviously the style is basically the same and I would say for most people, if you have the series 4, there's very little reason to upgrade, but if you are going to use the series 6 for a while, there are some things that might convince you uh. The first thing is that the battery life is basically identical: um they're, the series. Six might be slightly improved. I know they in the tear downs the fixity tear down.
They said it, you know, has like a three percent larger battery, maybe because it no longer has the force touch sensor on the screen, but it's insignificant enough that your quality of life won't change. You'll still be charging it every night. It won't change the way you use and charge the watch habitually at all. But what is nice actually is the faster charging. So if you slap this on the puck, it does charge noticeably faster than the series 4.
So if you're going to stick it on the, if you come home, and you want to juice up twenty percent, which will last you, you know a couple of three four more hours that might just take like 15-20 minutes to get that 20 and that's that's a nice. That's a nice upgrade. The next thing that I would say has been a nice quality of life improvement going from the series 4 to the series.6 is the always on display. So having skipped series 5, I never experienced that before and truth be told. I didn't think that it would be too much of a game changer, and you know- maybe it actually isn't.
You know if you're used to wearing an Apple Watch, and here I'll put on my series six and um. You know just to give an example: it's pretty smart about knowing when you want to see the screen. It doesn't take too much of an exaggerated motion like if I'm sitting at my desk and I wanted to see the time it just takes a little. You know like it's not too much to get your wrist up and get the screen to activate. But having said that in the week that I've been using the series six, it is nice uh not to have to do any motion at all to get um to be able to glance down at the time- and you know even just this morning as I was typing out- some notes and my thoughts on the series.
Six, where I had my hand on the keyboard- and I just looked down at the watch without having to make any motion to be able to see the time. So that is a nice quality of life improvement and I would say another reason to upgrade from the series four to series. Six, especially you know if um, if it's something that you have wanted for some time, and then I think for me that about sums up all the differences that I can point out. Really it's just the new finishes, which you know like apple, is smart to do you know like if um you know, because these are accessories, so it's smart to switch up the style here and there to get consumers to buy, and you know fact is I'm one of those consumers and then the always on screen if you're coming from a series, four other than that battery life, the overall body shape screen quality is all the same. If you have a series 4, you can very happily use it for another year and wait for the series 7, which probably is the financially smart thing to do, and I think that kind of that about sums up my thoughts.
There are other small things that I noticed that I did want to point out. The first being is the crown so on the series 4, the crown, and I'll see if I can bring it in up close without destroying the focus, and obviously this won't come up on the camera, but the crown has a very slight slightly more resistance than the crown on the series 6 on this series 6 at least- and it's super, super slight- the difference, and I think it's especially noticeable when you're clicking through things- I don't know if that has to do with the here. Let me just get to an any screen where I can scroll and there hopefully should be um clicks yep. I don't know if you can hear that on the camera. I bought it up to the mic, but the series 6 to me just felt very slightly lighter than the one other thing that I will point out that is more noticeable than that is that the screen quality.
Let me see if I can get this to go to the lock screen. There is a difference in color temperature, and then this might come across on camera. Let's see so, the series 4 there you can see is definitely a little warmer. It kind of has almost a green tint, whereas the series 6 and the same applies to the other 76 that I have is a little on the cooler side. You know maybe a little more blue and I do prefer that screen on the series 6, but when you're wearing the series 4, you don't notice that at all- and in fact the watch faces themselves, as you saw over here with this white background, imperceptibly different, the one other small minor thing that I noticed that even between screens on this on these two series sixes the graphite series.
Six that I have is very slightly uh less bright than the screen on the gold series six. So there might be some panel variants there. It won't really come up on camera, because this difference is so subtle. And even I will admit that it is a subtle difference. But it was enough that I bumped up the brightness one notch.
For years, I've been used to keeping the brightness on the lowest setting on my series four and now for the graphite series. Six. I did bump it up to the second level and I think that's about it. What will I do? Um, like I said, the graphite finish really has grown on me and so like the easily convince consumer that I am I am. I think I am going to keep the series six, and I will try to sell the series four, or I'll trade it into apple for that 155 dollar.
Credit uh, because I get to keep whatever bands I have versus selling it. I would lose a band. So that's my decision. I think for most people out there, especially if you haven't tried the series 6 this series 4 will serve you very well battery life functionality. Most of it is the same.
Just a few nice to have on the series 6 is nice to have. I did have some quick thoughts about the series 4 versus the SE, which I think is a more of an interesting comparison, because if you ask me, I think if you are in the market for a SC looking for a refurbished or used series, 4 might actually be the better way to go because it does have, I believe, the ECG sensor, and it does have an altimeter. I think all of these watches have altimeters the series 6. It has an always-on altimeter, but when I'm hiking and stuff I do get height elevation gain information on my series 4. So there definitely is the sensor for it there the series 6 they just have it set up to be always on.
So if you are in the market for a SC, the series 4 to me seems like the identical, identical watch and um yeah. That's it, so I think my advice for most people, if you have the series 4, would be to hold on for onto it and that is more appropriate to upgrade every three to four years uh. Before I finish, I wanted to quickly talk about the new solo loop and I have one here that I've been trying out and uh. You know all the sizing issues aside, uh my wrist tape measure. You know I like wearing the watch on my right wrist because I'm left-handed, and I have the crown on the left side, which is backwards for most people um.
My quick thoughts is that the band itself, it is very plush soft pliable, is a worth the fifty dollars. That's up to you. I think the original floral elastomer bands feel like they're a little better made. These are comfortable. It is comfortable to wear, but if you for me, if I wear the size that fits very snug on my wrist, so this is a size, six um, the tape measure size me as a seven.
I tried it on in the store and the six felt snug and nice and the seven felt slightly loose. But after wearing this for a couple of days, I think the seven might be a better size, and I'll show you very quickly what the six looks like, and actually it does look like the appropriate size. I think if you, if I wanted the better oxygen sensor, reading I'd, have it here, but the real thought I have on it is that it's not very breathable if you get the snug fit, and it's kind of attached to your skin, there's not a lot of gaps here. So at the end of the day, and let me just mute my phone at the end of the day, I notice that I will have you know a skin crease from the edge of the band, which you know is normal. If you wear a watch band snug, but it does feel like the skin is also a little moist, and I think if I went a size up, that issue would be relieved and here I'll show on the series 4 with the regular sport band.
I like to wear the small medium on the third to last pin, and it is a little roomier, but because of these little gaps, which are kind of tough to show on camera, it just breathes a little better. So while this band is very soft and comfortable- and I do like it- I'm not sure that I'll be keeping any of these bands. I think this will go back, and I'm going to keep the graphite, which is uh. It really is just growing on me so much uh, along with the uh, the cypress green band, and that's it hope that helps some of you guys out there. Thanks for watching.
