So you just got yourself a fancy-pants Apple Watch, and you've been using it for a day or so and notice something horrific. There are small scratches around the casing of your stainless steel, Apple Watch. Well, it's not the end of the world. You can actually fix this yourself for between five and ten dollars, and I'm going to show you how to do that today. First off, you got to keep in mind that stainless steel scratches and polished stainless steel is a scratch magnet. Stainless steel is a very soft metal.
It's actually softer than the 7000 series aluminum being used on the Apple Watch sport. That being said, you don't have to live with scratches on your Apple Watch, and you don't have to take it to a jeweler. You don't have to return it to Apple or anything like that very easy to remove for about five to ten bucks. I actually noticed a bunch of light scratches on the side of my Apple Watch casing and that's what kind of drove me to make this video because well, there are probably a lot of other people that are going to suffer from this problem now. The first thing that you're going to need is some mag and aluminum polish or any kind of metal polish.
Something like that now keep in mind. This will only work with the stainless steel version of the Apple Watch, but I went ahead and pick up this mother's mag and aluminum polish. This little tub was like 496 at Walmart in the auto department, and I also got myself a little rag here, something with some fibers that's kind of rough, because you're going to need to rub in that compound into the watch. So this compound right here is a micro abrasive and how it works is actually removes very, very thin layers of the stainless steel, repolish --is it and removes any surface scratches in the process. So if you want to pick up any of this stuff for yourself, I won't be sure to leave it linked down below.
For you, but we're gonna, take our polish first and our rag open up the Polish and dip a corner of the into the Polish. All you need is a little on their then you're going to take that corner of the rag and just rub it hard against the side or wherever these scratches are appearing on. Your Apple Watch just makes sure you watch out for any of the ports or holes or anything there. You just want to try to keep it as clean as you possibly can, and once you've done that go ahead and take the rag away, and you'll notice that the tip of it has now turned black and that's letting you know that it has just successfully removed thin layers of the stainless steel and if you wipe it with a clean part of the rag, you will notice that these surface scratches are 100% gone. So once again, we have a nice shiny scratch.
'Less Apple Watch right here. It's pretty fantastic and just to reiterate this whole thing for you, I'm going to do it again: I'll scratch, my Apple Watch intentionally with a household key right here, and I'll. Show you how this works, so I'm going to scratch it lightly on the corner, just to make some surface scratches something very visible that you can see right here, and we are going to do this same process with these scratches. So all we need to do is take some of this compound dip, the rag into it, rub it on the corner, there kind of pressing hard into it and then, after a few seconds, you can go ahead and wipe it clean with a dry rag and, as you can see here, there are no more scratches. It's literally that simple, you don't have to take it to a jeweler.
You don't have to take it back to Apple. You don't have to complain on the Internet about some made-up thing called scratch gate. It's very easy to remove scratches from stainless steel so that about wraps it up for this video and obviously this will not work on Apple Watch sport as it features an aluminum casing. But if you have Apple Watch with the stainless steel casing like I, can you restore it to fresh goodness, get rid of those minor surface scratches? If you have a chunk taken out, it's not going to work, but any minor surface scratches should be easily removed. With this compound and a small rack very, very simple and easy to do, and if this video helped you out, please feel free to leave a hate thumbs, as it does help out the channel.
