Apple Still Using "Fake" Sapphire On The Series 6? Scratch Tested!

Oh, that was painful to do what is he doing Erin? What are you doing? I want a Lego man for 150. What why would you pay so much for a Lego? So if we're doing a long term, video on the durability of these watches shouldn't we figure out how scratch resistant they are first, but wouldn't we figure that out while we use the watches, are you asking me if we should scratch these watches on purpose? Yeah, I mean okay, you already scratched it enough during your workout with those burpees. We should like to test it out with actual stuff that scratches them, but they're. So pretty fine find me things to scratch it with, and I'll make a video about it. Why do we have two knives? All right, so yellow is the stainless steel blue? Is the aluminum, so I'll keep the straps on just for clarity's sake, really don't want to do this mat there we are so, let's start with the normal keys this screen. How about to the finish? I don't think I'm actually scratching it to just oh, no, I'm totally scratching it so keys.

Leave a mark on the stainless steel be hard to see. Can you see the damage from the burpees? I did over the wall mildly annoyed. I want to go with no coins top coins on the side. It looks like it got scratched, but it just kind of rubs off coins. No, it's hard to tell on the stainless steel there's a lot of scratches this way on the stainless steel watch.

So we'll do vertical. I'm going to say, coins are a no for both rock screen. Do this corner rock on the side, looks like stuff is coming off. The rock not onto the Apple Watch got nothing on that screen. I'm going to pick this corner, and we're going to do vertical ones like this.

Oh, it feels like there's a lot of friction there. Nothing on the screen, nothing, the body of the SE. Oh, that was painful. To do, there's, definitely scratches or one scratch. That's not coming out on the face of the series.

Six stainless steel version, this corner right here- oh my god, I've just put it in it's, not moving that totally left a mark. So we're going to do the actual most picks now nothing on this stainless steel, oh poor watch, it might be. I can't honestly tell like, I might say, copper no bump up to four. Oh, you hear that I'm gonna start scratching the inside of the watch. Yeah, so four definitely leaves a mark five on the aluminum gee, nothing for the five.

I should have bothered yeah. You can totally like to feel the friction right away. Six, so six is leaving some faint marks. Faint marks. Oh lot, more marks now.

So this was what four this is six I didn't do the screens four on the ion x screen nothing five. This is six seven, so seven definitely left a mark. I'm going to go back down to six in this corner. There is some scratching on the set six, so between six and seven, which is normal when it comes to just regular uh, double tempered glass, the stainless steel version supposedly have a sapphire cover on it, and so it should technically take up to nine. This screen protector is actually sapphire.

This nine pick will not leave a mark on the uh. The screen protector will leave it on that. We'll find out, got the six seven. Oh, there's a bit of friction there right in the middle brick, see that there, with the eight pick, is an actual sapphire. I'm assuming it's different because, as you just saw it's scratched on the eight, so the eight does nothing on this sapphire screen protector and this nine pick doesn't look like it's doing anything either.

But if we take the nine pick, it leaves a mark brick. I think these are supposed to be scratched. I can't see anything so on the screen. Furthermore, I don't see anything nothing either. Oh, wait! There's one big scratch here.

Okay, that looks bad, but I don't think he scratched the screens. This one is just like scratched everywhere from his workout, I'm so confused. Did he even scratch? These again? Oh my god, I was like. Where did you go? What are you doing? I honestly walked out, and I was like oh he's gone like did he go home? Okay? Well, while you're in there, I have a quick question: did you scratch the watches? Yet yeah did you scratch the screens or the sides, because I can't tell like everything really, so they didn't scratch they. I can't tell oh they're terrible now.

I don't want to wear them anymore. What okay, then? I'm not looking at this properly. I can see one big scratch here: yeah, that's the box knife like on this side, but I don't see anything on the screen. Am I not looking for this screen? I think it was the corners. I think that corner has mild scratching.

Furthermore, I can see okay like a tiny bit, but it's like barely noticeable, but it's still to me: okay, yeah. It's still a scratch. Okay, yeah! Okay! Now I can see if it's like small, but it's there. So this was, I think, six or seven, but it's scratched like a normal screen protector which is expected because that's just tempered glass, the sapphire thing like this has scratches all around okay. That's awesome! I mean they don't look that bad.

I know what I pay so much money for something still scratched yeah, but now it's like, I don't want to wear them anymore. Does anybody want these watches Aaron doesn't want them anymore. You can go cuddle Monty again. You guys see Monty he's right there now as a recap for all the stuff that we used to scratch. The apple watches with like the keys and the coins generally didn't have effect on the screen or the bodies of either Apple Watch.

The only thing from the first part of the scratch test was the box knife, and I've got my microscope set up here. Big cut along the middle of the watch is very visible on the uh aluminum body of the Apple Watch, and so I've been looking at the sides of my Apple Watch, and this is the only thing that I've seen on my aluminum uh Apple Watch, SE in terms of scratches and stuff, and I kind of look back on all my other aluminum devices from apple, the Apple Watch ones and visually. I can't see any scratches the only one that looks terrible is the series three that I dropped on tile and I don't know if you can see it, but you know there's pretty big gouges right along the finish of that device. It's funny I'm going to get to the point that I'm trying to make in a minute here, because I'm going to show you how beat up my series 3 is- and this isn't even a month old, and I'm not terrible with my devices like as I'm moving this around, you can kind of definitely see just how ugly the edge of the Apple Watch looks, and so that's kind of odd, because you've got between these two devices. You've got one where the screen.

This is the SC scratches between six or seven on the screen, whereas in this one scratches at about eight, definitely not nine, it's definitely uh, not a hundred percent sapphire. It's a sapphire crystal, and I think we all kind of know known that, but it hasn't gotten any better. Since you know the last time somebody on the internet scratched it with a nine most pick. So, at the end of the day, do you go with the product whose screen is much tougher, but the body will look like crap after a month or do you go with the one where the body looks perfect after years of usage, but the screen is definitely going to look pretty beat up, and I for me personally, after using all my watches over the last five years, is that the screen scratches a lot, whereas in the aluminum body, looks pretty good after over time, and so, despite the fact that this thing looks terrible along the edges with all its scratches and whatnot, I think I still might default to this because of the better scratch resistant face. I don't really get bothered by the scratches on the body like this is my series three, and I dropped it on tile, so there's a giant gouge right there, but everything else.

The screen really bothers me like this is the series five, and this thing the screen is pretty scratched up, which is pretty terrible. So that's kind of all. I got for this video kind of setting a baseline for to see kind of how terrible this is going to look in about two months after using both of these devices on a day-to-day basis. First time watching, why not videos? I do encourage you! Click subscribe, because every single time I post a video, and you get notified because you've hit that notification bell, you get to see Monty right, say, bye, Monty spinning, chair.
