The iPhone 12 is here it's more expensive than the last generation iPhone 11, but there's also the iPhone 12 mini, which is a more budget conscious model. It's also a lot less expensive than the iPhone 12 Pro, which comes in at a thousand bucks. Of course, the iPhone 12 isn't the only flagship quality phone. That's under 900 one phone that has been making serious headlines over the last few months is the new Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe, which offers pretty much everything you would want from a galaxy s20 phone, but at a lower price. Now not many people are still deciding between the android and iOS ecosystems, but I wanted to compare them anyway, not just for those few that are considering switching but also to see if the companies are pretty much on par with each other, which device is better. I put the iPhone 12 and the Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe head to find out.

It really helps support my work and I would appreciate that support both the Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe and the iPhone 12 take most of the design elements of their more expensive, siblings. That's to say, the galaxy s20 Fe looks like a galaxy s20 phone, while the iPhone 12 looks very similar to the more expensive iPhone 12 Pro. That's a good thing. It keeps the devices looking modern and fresh.
The iPhone 12 has squared off edges similar to that of the iPhone 5, and it looks great. It has apple's new ceramic glass on the front and back for a premium, build quality with an aluminum frame around the edges. The galaxy s20 Fe doesn't feel quite as premium or have the same, build quality. That's because Samsung has built it with so-called gloss stick, which is really just plastic. I don't mind the feel it's soft and looks fine, but it's definitely not as premium as the iPhone's build around the edges.
You'll get power buttons and volume rockers, while on the bottom there's a charging port USB-C for the galaxy, s20, Fe and lightning for the iPhone 12. Of course, there's one other major difference between these two phones as designs: the fact that the iPhone 12 still has apple's notch, while the galaxy s20 Fe, has a hole, punch cutout for the front-facing camera. Now the notch on the iPhone is very easy to get used to and most won't have an issue with it. But the expensive display on the galaxy series is still very nice, we'll have to wait and see if the iPhone series ends up shrinking its notch, a little but at least for the iPhone 12. It's still well and truly here.
Speaking of the display apple has finally moved to an OLED display for the iPhone 12, and it looks great. It has a higher pixel density than the Samsung phone 2, which is only 1080p, though the difference isn't that noticeable. The brightness does seem to be a little higher on the galaxy s20 Fe compared to the iPhone 12, but not by much under the hood. Both phones have a lot to offer. The iPhone 12 features apple's new a14 bionic chip, while the galaxy s20 Fe has the Qualcomm snapdragon 865 processors.
Now here's the thing both of these phones will easily be able to handle everything you can throw at them. But the fact remains that in two years the iPhone will still be performing excellently, while the galaxy s20 few ill be starting to slow down the iPhone performs better it has for years, and it still does now we'll have to wait and see if the next-gen Qualcomm snapdragon 875 can catch up. But for now Apple is miles ahead. Benchmarks confirm this: the iPhone 12 scored an impressive 1591 on geek bench 5's, single core and 39.65 on its multi-core score, that's quite a bit higher than the galaxy s20 Fe, which still scored a very respectable score, but just not at the heights of the iPhone 12. Apart from software, the camera will likely be one of the main points of comparison between these two phones, and it's a close race.
The iPhone 12 has a dual sensor: camera with one 12 megapixel wide sensor and one 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor. The galaxy s20 Fe, on the other hand, has a triple lens camera, with a 12 megapixel wide sensor, an 8 megapixel telephoto sensor and a 12 megapixel ultrawide sensor because of its three lenses to the iPhone's two. The galaxy s20 Fe is a little more versatile able to capture solid photos in a wide variety of situations, while the iPhone 12 isn't necessarily as versatile. However, it can still capture better photos. The majority of the time part of that is likely to be thanks to the iPhone's new image processing deck.
It's also a little more consistent. While there are times you may need to retake a photo on the galaxy s20 Fe, that's a lot less common on the iPhone to be fair. Both of these phones have excellent cameras and there's definitely something to be said for the versatility of the galaxy device. You'll be happy with the camera on either of these devices. The battery life is pretty good on both of these devices too.
The iPhone has a 28 15 William hour battery and, while that's a lot smaller than the galaxy phone's 4 500 William hour battery, it's still easily lasts through a full day of use. In my battery test, which involves streaming a YouTube video at full brightness for three hours, the iPhone 12 ended the test at 75, while the galaxy s20 Fe ended with 77, so the galaxy phone's battery is a little better, but not so much that it's worth buying one over the other. Then there's software, I'm just not going to get into the android verse iOS debate here. That would be pointless. What I will say is that Samsung's iteration of android called one UI is a little bloated, despite the fact that it adds a ton of features.
Io's is getting more and more features. These days like home, screen widgets, although Siri still isn't anywhere near as good as Google Assistant, though it definitely beats Samsung's Bixby. Both of the phones offer biometric authentication on the galaxy s20fe that takes the form of an in-display fingerprint sensor that works pretty well on the iPhone 12 it's face ID, which I really like, and I've gotten used to so which phone is better. Well, probably the iPhone 12. It performs better, takes more consistent photos and has a more modern design despite the notch, but it's also more expensive.
If you can afford it, I recommend the iPhone 12, especially given the fact that it will last much longer, but the galaxy s20 Fe is still a great phone, and you won't be disappointed in it.
