Hey there so Apple sent me the new Apple iPad Pro twelve point: nine inch with a smart folio keyboard and Apple Pencil second-generation and a Magic Trackpad. It's a lot like the last one. It looks now front and back besides the same dimensions on the front of the iPad Pro twelve point. Nine engine still has the same true depth, camera up top, which means that I can use face ID to unlock it same liquid, Retina display, which is gorgeous and everything looks great on it same same same Siri capability, it's light its thin, and it's powerful. Of course. The other big difference is a brand-new LIDAR scanner.
That's right: LIDAR, like you'd, find in a self-driving car. Somehow they took the hardware and the technology and a squeeze, though the laser sensor inside here. We also have the new a 12 Z Bionic CPU, which has eight cores of graphics power. So it's going to be more graphically powerful, but it also works better in what they call peak performance situations. This is running iPad, OS 13.4. Why is that a big deal? Because this guy now supports mousing? That's right.
It supports a mouse, it has a cursor, and it makes it a lot more, like an ultraportable laptop I've, been using the iPad Pro 12 point 9 inches with a smart folio keyboard which one's about 179 and an Apple Pencil, 2nd generation which one's about 129 for a couple of years now- and you know this- does make it a more productivity friendly tablet because obviously have the keyboard, and you have the pencil but iPadOS 13.4 with Mouse support his next level. It really changes the experience, and you know I've been using it with the Magic Trackpad right here. If you've used a Mac with a trackpad, it's very much the same, so you might notice right now, that's the mouse on it, and I'm doing this I'm doing this on the. So. That's me just sweeping through I'm, not touching the screen, but that's yeah, so you can select things it takes some getting used to it's gonna function, a lot like a laptop now.
One of the things that Apple introduced is something called the magic keyboard which is instead of this guy is going to be a keyboard with a trackpad on it. I did not get to test that, but it looks incredible. It's also about $299, so you're, adding quite a bit to the cost of the device. So this has the new a 12 Z Bionic mobile CPU, which has more powerful graphics. Eight core graphics in it has better thermal management, so a better high peak performance and I just drove it to a wall, but you know this is a lot of fun for gaming, but it's also a really powerful system for CAD work for 4k video editing.
So you know Wow, look at me driving against the wall. They should, I get off the wall into the water I really struggled to over match the mobile CPU and, in fact, what's fascinating, is that the benchmarks on the iPad Pro 12.9 enter virtually the same as the benchmarks for the last edition, which ran the 8 12 X CPU, but because of the mobile GPU, where they've added power, the metal score, the graphic scores are higher. Let's talk a little about that that LIDAR scan scanner, which is, is about scattering the laser across your space and creating what's called a 3d mesh of the environment. So this is different from what you'd find on the iPhone, where it uses a combination of the cameras, AI the sensors within the phone to figure out what it's going to do with an AR object. In this case it is relying on the LIDAR and the updated AR kid 3.5 to help it figure out. First, it knows the surface the flat surface, immediately, I don't have to scan I, don't have to do this anymore immediately.
I can place a 3d object down and because it's LIDAR, the surfaces that it's recognizing are not just flat surfaces, it can recognize curved surfaces, so I was able to put an AR guitar electric guitar on top of a couch, and he looked like he was really sitting there, because the mesh has seen the shape of the couch. The problem is: there 's's almost there are no apps, except for the measure app that's inside that comes with iOS and has been updated other than that there aren't other apps where I can test it out and really see the power of it. But I do think that developers are going to take advantage of this. We're going to see some really cool ways. I've seen some videos of some games like a lava game, where the lava on the ground really recognizes the environment you in or IKEA where, when you're placing furniture in a room, the analysis is not just looking at.
Oh, here's a flat space just put a couch there, it's seeing the empty spaces, and it's analyzing not just what's missing, but what's already there and making suggestions for you about what you might want to put there at the 12 megapixel wide and 10 megapixel ultra-wide cameras, they both take excellent photos. Obviously the 12 megapixel is virtually the same camera as the last iPad Pro the 10 megapixel ultra-wide is brand new. We of course, can shoot 4k video, which looks excellent and, of course you can edit it on the iPad Pro. Obviously, the iPad Pro is perfect for drawing, especially with the Apple Pencil second-generation I've been working on this here, and you know it's if it's kind of like drawing on paper. It's also worth remembering that you know it's still an iPad, so it has a single port.
That's at USB, C port. It doesn't have a 3.5, millimeter, headphone jack. You can use your air pods or any Bluetooth. Headphone will work for it, work with it, but you also do not have any other ports as you might have in the laptop. So this 12 point 9 inches.
iPad pro starts at $999 for 128 gigabytes of storage. If you want to get the 11-inch iPad Pro, it starts at 799 and again 128 gigabytes of storage and of course, you can go all the way up to a terabyte of storage. What do I think of Apple's iPad Pro 12 point 9 inches I, like it, I mean I liked the last iPad Pro in fact, I loved it I loved, drawing on it, I loved using it for all kinds of creativity, apps, I, love, editing, video on the big screen? You know with using premiere rush or even iMovie. You know it's powerful. It's always been powerful, but now it's a little more powerful I.
Think that we've not seen yet all the apps that can take it full advantage of the hardware, especially obviously the LIDAR hardware, but I am really excited about the change with iPadOS 13.4, because that transforms the tablet into something more. This is more than just an iPad. This is more than just a tablet. It's basically a computer in a tablet size waiting for a keyboard and mouse to turn it into a laptop and that's coming with the magic keyboard. You just got to be willing to spend enough money, so yeah I, like it I, think Apple's the leader in tablet in the tablet space I think this is a beautiful device fun to use, not cheap, but probably worth the dough.
Hey thanks for watching. Please remember to rate review and subscribe.
